  3. Guys you all have to remember when we first picked up the guitar as a beginner and we didn't even know how to tune it it was very intimidating. As time passed and you learned your chords and some scales and maybe even a song or two you got more confident. These new songs are always going to be very intimidating when you first see them but after a few plays they will start becoming more familiar and your hands will start picking things up faster and faster each play. You may even learn a different part of the song better after each play which will help you learn the song as well. Don't be intimidated by a song when you first see it because if you do you will always have that defeatist attitude that you feel its too hard for you.  This has happened to me many times during the start of a week sometimes I will think I have no chance at playing the song but after i get over my fear of the song and keep practicing it I end up scoring in the top every week. Some songs are just to extreme for my level of skill so I won't compete with people like Mr Pi or Thrallsa or some of the other MC participants but I let that push me each week to get better. If I can get even 5% close to them I feel like I accomplished something. I am sure some of you feel that way about others in this competition and have silent rivalries with others here and thats what this is all about. You set your own goal that no one has to know and when you accomplish it it feels great.

I've passed through that. I remember that my first riffs were Nothing Else Matters and Smoke On The Water, and there i started to learn chords and all the guitar techniques with my guitar teacher. Then i started to use RS as a learning tool and here i am :D

As they said before...you don't have to stop for NOTHING. It's a real struggle to learn to play instrument, you have to be very patient with it.

Don't stop, if you practice hard..in a blink of an eye you can play a song that at the beginning was really hard for you

Im conflicted on whether i should incorporate the multiple guitar parts or not into one guitar track.

I always put all the guitar parts in one track (because Petrucci is the only guitar player there)

  5. I dont have any way to host it and the original is on sendspace so if nacholede wouldnt mind upping it then go ahead and just give peter punk credit on the forum post

Peter Punk is the original charter? ok, i'll upload it and i'll give him all the credit

  6. I make a complaint about beginner songs being in not regular tunings or songs being 18 minutes long with no riff repeater.  I will no longer participate if you think I am only here to complain.

I will also not donate to this site anymore because of you.  I see your post as a personal attack at me and that is offensive, I think you forgot what it is like to be a beginner.

I know what it feels...to be a beginner. I play since 2011, sometimes i find it really difficult to play and simply quit for a time. Then i started guitar lessons with a guitar player from a known Heavy Metal band and taught me a lot of things that i already know now. And finally i bought Rocksmith 2012 to learn more and more and have fun. I used it as a learning tool, and also as an amp (i have a really small Marshall). And then i joined Smithyanvil and started to learn more and more and more songs, practice really hard...and here i am. I am a charter here, i share my creations with the community and talk with people with my likes, and also...meet new people. I'm from Argentina but i met really cool people here, and it's really amazing. If you are a beginner...don't stop for anything. Practice hard every day, if you can't get a song done...practice harder ('til your fingers bleed LOL). You need patience to play an instrument...so bring it on mate. Don't find this or what Joey said, because i really like that the official songs from RS2014 are avalaibable to play in the Championship. So i hope you read this and please...calm down!

  8. Ok guys, listening to some songs from Metallica (Live here in Argentina in the By Request Tour) i had an idea.

If you guys could help me, we can do some songs from the tour (because they sound fuckin' amazing live). I can't do it on my own 'cause i don't know yet how to do GP Tabs and because sometimes is really hard getting some notes by ear

I hope we can make this project a reality. I count on you guys!

  9. When I first bought RS2014 I had no idea that you could ramp up the difficulty of songs so I progressively learned all of my favorite tracks as the game taught me them.  Each time it would add in more notes in a solo, I would find myself having to change my fingering because I had been playing things where it felt comfortable.  As a result of this, I'm not a big fan of DD unless the song is just insanely hard, like Cliffs of Dover or Satch Boogie.  I still haven't broken 40% mastery on either of those.

So I guess what I'm saying is that I agree with both Torkk and Flummi on this topic.  DD is a crutch to allow you to make the song still recognizable while you ramp up to learn it.  However, if the song is relatively easy to learn, then riff repeater at 100% is a better solution than DD.

I'm not a big fan of DD. But i'm putting it in some songs (like the ones from Dream Theater) because they are really hard to play and i know some people can't play them without DD. And in the first Rocksmith, DD was a pain in my ass (that's why i always removed DD in some songs) but now it's really cool :D

I think the most important part of this isnt how the song is done, but the final step.

Which is 14. here. I dont upload songs that aren't finished, cause I dont see the point :P

Don't get too hung up on perfection, or else you'll never put up anything at all. ;)

A little WIP action isn't a bad thing. I would say if you need to move on after getting a song around 90% accurate, by all means, upload it now and come back to it later with a fresh mind when you're ready to fix it. That's just my thought, just because I released a handful of imperfect customs when I started out, and it was a great learning experience, but then I went back and fixed the rough ones later.

Same here, i did my first customs with EoF (because i didn't have an idea that GPA Exists). And then i learned how to use each tool, how to put the tones, add phrases and sections and everything else. If anyone is a DT fan in this thread, i'm doing Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence (a 42 minutes song divided in separated tracks) and yeah...is hard. But well, i gotta learn how to put DDC and other important thing, how to create a GP tab from 0 and other stuff
