Gave it my best but this song is a little too fast for me. I did over the week so it was great practice.

Beginner bass

I'm not happy with this because I just can't get up to speed. My fingers start flapping. Ok at 95% speed.

Obiviamente aquí se trata de tocar de todo y todos los géneros son bienvenidos, además de que de todos los géneros se aprende algo y se disfrutan a la hora de tocarlos con un instrumento. 

Y sí, te entiendo perfectamente. Yo también me estoy haciendo más "tolerante" con los años y puedo apreciar arreglos de bajo o riffs de guitarra que me gustan, incluso aunque sean canciones de "mi amor... te extraño". 😄  

En el sentido contrario, déjame contarte un caso real como "advertencia", jaja. Se trata de mi hermano menor, que como base le gustaba Type O Negative y Deftones, y fue él quien me introdujo a Tool y Perfect Circle... Pues resulta que en algún momento tuvo una "revelación" o quizá tenía algo medio reprimido, o qué se yo... Pero empezó a decir que "la música comercial está chida". Y después me comenzó a recomendar videos de Back Street Boys y One Direction (que si no fuera por él ni conocería a ese grupito) Y yo como... "No mames, qué pedo! Qué le pasó a este güey!!!" 😂😂😂

Por otro lado, cabe agregar algo que oí decir a Martin Friedman, el guitarrista de Megadeth. No sé si sepas que él vive en Japón desde hace muchos años. De hecho ví una entrevista que le hicieron en japonés, que lo habla perfecto, y señalaba que en Japón no existe una división clara entre los géneros como en EEUU, por ejemplo que los "rockeros" sólo escuchen rock o los raperos rapp, etc. y eso le gustaba. Yo en ese momento no lo entendí... pero por ejemplo la rola "Usseewa" que recomendé en la semana 500 yo la escuché por primera vez cuando mi hija y sus amigos la cantaron en Karaoke en un cumpleaños, y veo que las canciones que escuchan ellos incluyendo de anime usan mucha guitarra eléctrica y son medio "pesadas", y son rolas que compusieron bandas de verdad, pero se aceptan sin ningún problema. En fin...

I played this with a pick, because I think that's how it's supposed to be played. Playing those fast riffs and chords with fingers is beyond my ability and endurance. No respite here!

its funny you mention backstreet boys because the producer for most of their hit songs was max martin whom is also responsible/guilty for making most of the pop hits in the 2000s. heres the link to just some of his songs

That the dude is a machine! He has done 100s of top hits and has worked with almost any pop star you can think of. And hes also  said that he is a metal/rock fan at heart. I think lots of producers in the pop industry must be like that aswell..for example i also remember ian katpatrick (producer of some of dua lipaas songs / pop star) also said he like metal/ rock...or skrillex being in a rock band before he went solo and created skrillex and worked with other pop stars ...etc

I mean you kinda have to be listening to all types of music to get inspiration to create something new /unique or grab the best elements of those other styles to make something catchy. Kinda like dave grohl has said in interviews about his drumming patterns for nirvana came from disco.

I didnt know about Martin Friedmann living in japan. That whole story seems like the subplot to cyberpunk 2077 though hahaha. Because there, the rock guitarist in the game is salty bout jpop/rock taking over but in the end gives kudos to the jpop band for mixing new elements with rock and creating their own new thing.
