Do i need a cfw to run ps3 custom songs?

please help!!!  if anyone could be so nice as to put step by step instructions on how to get my songs on to ps3 i would greatly appreciate it.  I know im a noob and it might be frustrating for someone with the knowledge to take the time to explain, but please do. I have downloaded the correct .edat files.  Now i dont know what the hell to do next.  What do i need to open these with? how do i get them to be .pkg?  can i run them on CEX or just DEX?  Do i need a cfw?  please explain.  remember im a noob so if you could explain it for a moron it would be appreciated.  Thank you soooooo much to anyone that takes the time to help me.

You would need custom firmware on your PS3. The only problem with that is if you go online  and it gets picked up by Sony then they will ban the console and the only way around it is to buy a new one.
