  1. Happens to me, too. Not just as often as you describe, though.

Please be aware there is also the option to restore an auto-saved message (see the time stamp in the bottom left cornor of the editor). I think it is saved every minute or so and will restore most of what you have written before you hit "post" ;-)

  2. Devin Townsend's Life, hooray!

The song is, in most parts, quite easy for an "Advanced" song, but the difficulty is dominated by the fast picking parts in every pre-chorus.

It was way too tough for me for a long time, only now that I have moved to Advanced I feel like I start to get it right. - I hope you agree with my choice :-)

This was my very first custom, it has seen a lot of revisions and I am quite proud of it. There is only one thing in the bridge that isn't quite perfect:

I think there should be some pinch harmonics played there, but I cannot identify them.

Right now I put regular harmonics in the brigde that I think sound best. They have the attribute to be "ignored" though, this means it won't count if you miss them! Therefore you can play anything else instead and maybe someone will find the perfect pinch harmonics someday :-)

If there is anything that could be improved just let me know!

    Have a nice week!

  3. A few people have raised this issue before. I see your point and the solution is not really obvious

What you can try is go to your settings -> Notification Options

    Under "Other Notifications" there is:

    "Notify me of new comments"

    And under "Pages" there is:
"Notification method to use for article subscriptions"
"Notification method for new versions of CDLC you follow"

The last seems to be responsible for the separate "version notification", so maybe you can disable the comments with one of the other settings.

If you have success, share your knowledge :-)

I only have the box for "e-mail" ticked for "Notification method for new versions of CDLC you follow" and I never got e-mails about new comments, only in-forum notifications. So maybe that is what you are looking for

I, too, would like to get rid of the endless "Thank you!" posts in the CDLC-comments. But on the other hand I don't want to miss real discussions about the songs, so I guess I will keep subscribed :(

Would be nice to have the "Thanks" button on the CDLC page to encourage people to use that instead of a post...

The desktop app should be able to notifiy you of new versions, too, yes.

  4. @@Frack nice!

We could use those "trophy"-symbols for the "Leaderboard"-Trophy, and the "plec"-symbols in your earlier post for the "Last Week"-Trophy. The different colours can be used for 1st - 3rd place.

But how to distinguish between the paths? Just writing "L", "R" and "B" onto everything would probably look ugly.

    @

"There only for top winner for 3 paths and only for MC"

I am sorry, but I just don't get what you mean :-)

Anyway, I would still like trophies for 1st - 3rd place on leaderboard as well. This would encourage both short term (weekly trophy) and long term (leaderboard) dedication.

  5. @

If I understand correctly, then I really like your suggestions :-D

So just to make sure we talk about the same thing:

    1. Last Week Trophy: Different symbols for Lead, Rhythm and Bass, and different colors for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. A user can gain three trophies at the same time.
    2. Leaderboard Trophy (=Rodman's Ranking): Different symbols for Lead, Rhythm and Bass, and different colors for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. A user can gain three trophies at the same time.
    3. Diehard Trophy: One symbol for everyone, displayed when user is on the Diehard List (path doesn't matter)

In the order above, only the most valuable trophy is displayed per user and per path. This means that a user can have a maximum of three trophies displayed at a time.

Now we could discuss if the "Leaderboard" is actually more valuable than the "Last Week" :D I'd say yes, because it is harder to get to the top of the leaderboard!

I suggest the different colors are standard "gold", "silver" and "bronze".

Then we need two kinds of symbols (Last Week / Leaderboard) with three different styles (L/R/B) each. And one kind of symbol for "Diehard".

If we apply Motives ideas, we won't need a "Multi Task Trophy"

  6. So... we have 3 different categories:

    1. Last week (3 paths, and 4 difficulties)

    2. Leaderboard (3 paths, and 4 difficulties)

    3. Diehard List (3 paths)

    This results in 2 x 3 x 4 + 3 = 27 different trophies.

Potentially, one user could have 9 of those at the same time.

I think this is too much. We will need to think about what we really need / want and how to make different symbols for that :-)

  7. *Changed the input fields for some dialogs to not automatically take focus when the mouse moves over it, requiring a click.

    Nice!

*Changed the logic that is used when EOF re-enters the foreground to avoid a hang that could occur in Windows 8.

Hopefully this eliminates that Windows 8 ALT+Tab hang, let me know if that's not the case.

The hang is gone, indeed! A major step forward, but...

when I Alt+TAB back into EOF, it seems like it behaves as if TAB is kept beeing pressed: It will skip through the difficulties rapidly in an endless loop. And if you navigate to the exit prompt for example, it will toggle between "yes" and "no" the whole time.

  8. Did you find out what Metronome = 2 means? :)

Anyway I wanted to give my songs another testrun to find bugged arrangements, when I noticed something weird:

I placed all of my CDLC in the subfolder "SteamApps\common\Rocksmith2014\dlc\CDLC" and they seem to be ignored by the GUI version of your program.

I didn't notice this before, because the last time I used the GUI I hadn't changed my folder structure yet. And in the meantime I only used my own batch file which converts only the subfolder, because the GUI cannot save the settings yet.

Thus I suggest you program should work through all subfolders of \dlc\, because I am sure I am not the only person with this structure :)

Still I found one CDLC with warnings in the bass arangement:

"Not possible to merge empty note with neighbour in bar 65 - 69"

  9. In case anyone missed it: The latest update for the Steam Broadcasting Beta includes:

"Audio from games that require exclusive access to the sound card can be recorded when using the record only game audio setting."

I've succesfully tried it out myself - and the audio works even with exclusivity on!

In order to capture the video, I had to tick the box "Record video from all applications on this machine" and put Rocksmith into windowed mode.

I don't know what kind of magic they are pulling off to grab that audio, but this is awesome. I could now finally start making playthrough videos if I use a second computer and film the stream there :D

Here's hoping they will integrate the possiblity to save the videos locally, too!

  10. Ok, now I get it. You can load up explanations of the techniques used in each song, and now this is possible with CDLC as well.

Well, that is actually quite nice! :)

Anyway, when there are new features like this added to the Toolkit, it would be a great idea to actually tell people about it!

You see, in most cases the update notes showed in the Toolkit tell me nothing, because they are so short. And in case they are longer, the rest of the text is always clipped off because there is no line break in the updater window.

Maybe this would be complicated to do in the updater itself because it is linked to github and you don't want super long commit titles... but instead you could develop the habit to leave a note here in this thread (or on the first page) to post the changelog and give a short explanation where useful, e.g. when new features are added.
