  1. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Microsoft, Google, and others are any better. But they keep their system open.

    I'm avoiding them as can be, and I support small organizations. I'm writing here on Opera 12.16, best browser ever made.

    And I didn't start the PC / Mac arguing.

    Your conclusion to go for Mac because of Asio4all is, well lets say , sarcasm, or nonsense

    I made my contribution to this thread, while you still fail to inform us what wonderful soundcard and system is yours, and how much it costs to claim nobody needs Asio4all because you don't need it.

    You judge down Guitar Rig also, well yes, Mac, Ipad Apps, Amplitube, they all have such cute poppy designs, but Guitar Rig (you fail to describe its negative points)  which I'm not using because I'm not a pro, no need to switch views, all your settings are on a front board, well yes, footpedals don't look like footpedals.

  2. There's no "Big Daddy" telling me where to store files, or what applications I can and cannot use.

    Why I don't like Apple and it's products? Because they consider users immature, on Ipads, you can't see that data files are stored in the subdirectory of the application, and if you erase the application... Peripherals are too expensive, same for cables.

    In fact all problems on Apple products have One solution : you pay the Cie,

    That's why it has become too big, such as influencing information.

    Don't put me on trial, read this and follow the bread crumbs to what lies beneath.

  3. How about this picture of an A Major Scale:

    http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/43f1/7us5aujo42d1sjwbg.jpg?size_id=6

    Looks great, isn't it. What's best its a free scale generator, where you can add other notes freely and save the generated picture.

    So you can change your desktop wallpaper. B)

    Give it a try at http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/scalegenerator/

    I edited a blues scale up & down and imbed the image here

    http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/images/scales/gmcscale__e10000001010100_b0000001010000_g0001010100000_d0001010000000_a0101010000000_e60101000000000.jpg

    Going up you slide to each D

    Going down you slide to each A#, and after the last lower note F you replay the G

    I also made a colored Guitar Fret in Excel

  4. Some month's ago, I admired people able to chart songs in Gh, Rb, and even more in RS. I thought it was out of my reach, and finally I wanted the FFP Hard to See so badly, I took the adventerous path of Cdlc creation.

    Now I know anybody can do it. Anybody who has the motivation to gather data about the song (tabs, lyrics, videos ...).

    Best to start is a song not long (about 3min.), with a clear beat, regular easy rhythm and simple 2-3 chords and no bends, slides, or other ornements (like Linkin Park)

    If you have Guitarpro6, you can save/export a tab with a unique tempo (bpm) as a wav song, and there you have a single track (eventually with a drum beat),where syncing is done and the bpm known (finding and adjusting the right bpm is often tedious)

    If you find a decent tab, it takes an evening to get it running in RS. And it's a great feeling.

    So why not give it a try?

    Personally I spend about 30 hours on a song before I feel ready to release it. A lot of time goes into finalizing (detailed syncing, fret fingering, tones, accents, bends, tech notes, structuring, adding personal notes, experimenting), which most user's won't even notice.

  5. Mac vs PC; latency is just a matter of sound-card,

    And on the PC, you have solutions for all, emulators for all, and no Big Daddy telling you where to store files, what applications are allowed, what's humor and what's not.

    The Ipad works, because you are limited to what "they" allow, the PC not so, because we are free to use it as we like.

    :ph34r: No thanks to any kind of domination, protectionism and censorship from the 1%. :ph34r:

  6. Any basic generic sound chip like Realtek needs Asio4All for all Music software (CUBase, Ableton, Fruity Loop and the plugins)

    Amplitube is also a plugin.

    Setting up Asio can be tricky : Here is how it should look somehow, First click on "Panel", follow the red arrow, the green arrows show

    the "play" button that activates in and output devices.

    After this you should not have any latency problems, even if Amplitube quality is set to Hi.

    Med, Eco buttons make it less demanding on the hardware.

  7. About the Latency, you need to download/install Asio4all.

    Asio appears only in the configuration menu of software that uses it.

    It must be configured in Amplitube Settings, and in the windows taskbar

    Asio takes exclusivity of the sounddriver, so you can only play through Amplitube.

    There is an alternative to Amplitube, and thats Guitar Rig 5, which seems more professional.

    Many café artists use it in public performances.

    No wonder, it's a Native instruments product.

    They give a free Guitar Rig 5 player which you might try.

  8. I took a wider view to point out that everybody has a choice to how far he accepts a business model

    which could develop because so many people choose the easy way, which is to pay even if they think it's wrong.

    And the companies don't care if the users feel cheated, so why would the user care for their expenses.

    It's well shown in Carpenters "They Live" : buy, consume, obey, stay asleep, submit, don't question authority, money is your god

    Everybody has a responsibility to say stop, that's not right.

    And then if you follow my reflexion, the first question if you need RS1 becomes "sans objet".

    Thus returning to the subject my answer  would be "No, you don't need RS1"

  9. Let's not forget the artists.

    And I'm not talking about those who get pushed forward in the medias by the Music Industry, because they fit a trend, and there's a lot of cash to be made of. In fact, there are so many commercial "artists", that it's hard to find real talents behind the scene. So if the Music Industry goes down the drain, it's profitable to give space to the many weak - sponsored musicians.

    Let's not forget also that Rocksmith gives the Music Industry a great publicity for some artist you would never have heard or cared about.

    The Music Industry should pay a contribution to Ubisoft. Let's not forget that Tabbing songs is also under copyright. So yes, there is still something deeply wrong in the copyright licensing system. And legally, I'm not concerned by contracts Ubisoft has with the Music Industry.

    It's not about 10$, it's about history, freedom, autonomy of artists and the accessibility to their music, either to listen or to play.

    We could have so much better music, and those who limit their music style to modern fast repeating 3 chords in a uniform rhythm don't know what they are missing. My fingers were enough to count interesting songs on the two RS DVD Covers, and it took me a long time to buy it and pay for the rest which makes me sponsor a level of music I don't support.

    I'm always glad to find musicians who offer their music for a small fee on the web, bypassing the intermediate merchants.

  10. It's all about Updates or New releases

    About the question, is it a Game, or a Music Teaching Software.

    Going the FIFAxx  way is probably more profitable than the Software way (Synthesia ie.)

    If Rocksmith 2014 had an update version for RS 2012, it would not have to licence the users twice.

    Why should a user pay Music Producers so many times for a same song, (Vinyl, CD, DVD, BR, GH, RB, RS12, RS14 ...)

    The update hasn't that much to offer, except for some extra features on notes.

    RS2012 had an very bad interface, retuning every time and nevertheless an average recognition system.

    RS2014 has a better interface, not good, no search engine for songs, no forward stop reverse in Riffrepeator.

    RS2014 is still too permissive in recognizing not only chords, but above all, its simply awful in recognizing rhythm errors..

    And training games are worse than in RS2012, who had a career mode.

    So we will have to go through the discussion for RS2016.

  11. That's where I don't follow, neither the Software nor the Music producers, who force me to look for alternatives.

    Rocksmith 2012 was unfinished business, which Rocksmith 2014 corrected,

    using buyers as free, no, paying testers (instead of getting paid).

    Instead of a new release, they should get an update.

    Rocksmith on PS3, Xbox, Mac may not be the same as the PC version.

    My children prefer PS3 & Xbox. Do I have to pay RS three times?

    If I buy a tool that's not really finished, do I have to rebuy finished version at full price?.

    If I use the tool at home, do I have to rebuy the tool, if I use it somewhere else?

    Of course not. Same with software.

    It's legalized cheating and stealing people.

  12. In a section Intro of another cDLC, I set 4 phrases called "Scale1". And anothers called "Scale2, 3, Riff1 , 2,3"
    http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/0d08/puniaho9c981301bg.jpg?size_id=7

    In a 4th section called "Riff" I set 1 phrase called "Scale1"and others.

    http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/f79b/w5235ha5t7lj69dbg.jpg?size_id=6

    I let the files go through the DD creator ( with 6 phrases set) and it kept the 5 phrases I did.

    http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/b167/25dmq383jhocdg2bg.jpg?size_id=4

    Now, when I increase the level in the section intro (it's not possible to increase the level of a phrase separatly),
    the phrase "scale1" in the "Riff" section is automatically increased, and only this phrase.

    XML Level  of the EOF Non-DD : Phrase names get replaced by a phrase ID

    <phrase disparity="0" ignore="0" maxDifficulty="0" name="Riff1" solo="0"/>
    <phrase disparity="0" ignore="0" maxDifficulty="0" name="Riff2" solo="0"/>
    <phrase disparity="0" ignore="0" maxDifficulty="0" name="Riff3" solo="0"/>
    phrase disparity="0" ignore="0" maxDifficulty="0" name="Scale1" solo="0"/>
    <phrase disparity="0" ignore="0" maxDifficulty="0" name="Scale3" solo="0"/>
    <phraseIteration time="5.976" phraseId="4"/>
    <phraseIteration time="9.910" phraseId="4"/>
    <phraseIteration time="13.845" phraseId="4"/>
    <phraseIteration time="17.779" phraseId="4"/>
    <phraseIteration time="42.369" phraseId="3"/>
    <phraseIteration time="46.304" phraseId="4"/>
    <phraseIteration time="49.255" phraseId="5"/>

    XML Level  of DD Creator : Phrase names of EOF get lost replaced by another name and  phrase ID

    <phrase disparity="0" ignore="0" maxDifficulty="3" name="p1" solo="0"/>
    <phrase disparity="0" ignore="0" maxDifficulty="3" name="p2" solo="0"/>
    <phrase disparity="0" ignore="0" maxDifficulty="3" name="p3" solo="0"/>
    <phrase disparity="0" ignore="0" maxDifficulty="2" name="p4" solo="0"/>
    <phrase disparity="0" ignore="0" maxDifficulty="2" name="p5" solo="0"/>
    <phraseIteration time="5.976" phraseId="2" variation="">
    <phraseIteration time="9.910" phraseId="3" variation="">
    <phraseIteration time="13.845" phraseId="3" variation="">
    <phraseIteration time="17.779" phraseId="4" variation="">
    <phraseIteration time="40.402" phraseId="8" variation="">
    <phraseIteration time="42.369" phraseId="9" variation="">
    <phraseIteration time="46.304" phraseId="4" variation="">
    <phraseIteration time="49.255" phraseId="10" variation="">

    And the link to another section seems only made to the last same phrase.

    I hope I clarified how to go further with the lazy "Section=Phrase" option,

    to make cDLC closer to official quality

    and make Riff Repeator and Dynamic Difficulty work as they should.

  13. I'm not aware that a section starting on a beat without a note could  (would?) cause problems in RR. I never ran into that issue.

    Look at the start of "Boys of Summer"

    No Notes on the Intro Section and DD in RR works fine.

    http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/ec04/oz4ebk0uclq8qzhbg.jpg?size_id=4  http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/4046/g5lxm7ncpgr004pbg.jpg?size_id=3

    To resync beats on notes,  shift Left-Click+Drag moves the beat without notes,no need to change "Auto adjust notes" in preferences.

    Sections display the main structure of song.

    Sometimes, a chorus may not restart on a main beat, often after a solo with a different speed (time signature).

    Instead of moving beats, it may be more correct  to change time signatures (i.e. a 6/4 or two 2/4  instead of 4/4) before the chorus note, and reestablish the main TS 4/4 on the Chorus note.

    It's useful to say, that phrases in a way subdivide a section.

    Being a sub-object of a section, they should not start before or end after a section.

    The easiest way to respect this is to keep Sections and phrases 1 to 1 equal by "also add as phrase".

    But a section can have multiple phrases.

    Phrases can have free names, and I guess if they repeat, RS understands this as a same bloc of notes.

    If you succeed/fail on one level, all levels of the same name will be adjusted (in official songs)

    In cDLC, automatic adjusting of Dynamic difficulty works badly, often not at all, because of insufficient structuring the song.

    I level 100% of a bloc of notes, but the next same bloc remains at lowest level.

    One way for better structuring / dividing a song is to "Song/Catalog" a same bloc of notes,

    Catalog blocs can be displayed (and played) below the main "Piano roll".

    Catalog Fret blocs can be named freely, and their name can be used as phrases "LeadScale1", "BassScale2" ...

    You can search (F3) for the bloc's repeats to seek the first beat of this bloc, and give it the same phrase name.

    I only discovered the "Catalog" feature recently after reworking the shortkeys for EOF.

  14. Let's not get hysterical about legal aspects, the internet is a free communication tool and it should be allowed to do what you can do when you meet friends in public places, to share all kinds of things you have, whether in your mind or in your hands.

    Those who are wrong, are the intermediates, who block the sharing process for their own profit. Providers of Culture and Tools will always exist, even after the temple has been wiped off the merchants. They always see your freedom as a threat to their client's revenues, but never the indirect profit they get from it.

    I'm from the old "Amiga" ere, commercially dead, but still alive thanks to free users. RS would be just another dying music teaching system, (like the Piano Discovery system), if it wasn't boosted around the planet by the custom users.

    About the use of servers, they are legal, if they conform to the legislation of the country where they are implanted.

    Even Kim Dotcom knows now its more secure running them in a tiny spot of old Europe or some island.

    Finally donations only live from confidence. We will not be asking to receive a certification of a financial Auditor service. B)

  15. 2 ways :

    Either you do finger picking with the thumb and index, if the song is meant to be played like that.

    More commonly with a pick , you mute the middle string with the finger on the 3 lying on it without pressing it to the fret.

    It can also be represented like this

    6

    x

    3

    Rocksmith tries to recognize the muted string then, and some users believe it often fails.

    To bypass this apparent problem, some use

    6

    ..

    3

    So Rocksmith only tries to recognize 6 and 3, and cares less for the muted string.

    But it has to be muted.

  16. As EOF is a hybrid tool for Rhythm Games and Rocksmith.

    I'm more or less aware of the Rocksmith functions, though some seem useless or don't work as I imagined.

    I tried Popup Messages without success, i.e.

    I wondered if my problems came from accidentally hitting a key.

    That's why I checked all key commands,

    I will keep the RS keys.txt up to date and improve it, now that the toughest work is done.

    It would be nice to have a fixed font in the F1 window, to allow an even more schematic presentation.

    Some keys on Qwertz keyboards don't work, specially those used for accents like ^ on â.

    They are localized above the "return" and next to the "backspace" key.

    (the most useful increase anchor value doesn't work)

    End & home keys can't be used on short Laptop keyboards.

    Unluckily shift+home and shift+end are very useful too to select notes.

    Maybe it would be better to avoid or double these keys with a common alternative,

    as the number of variations of Quertz, Azerty Querty keyboards seem almost infinite.

  17. I reworked the F1 - Shortcut Keys to add "Quertz" shortcuts.

    I gathered ALL shortcuts, categorized to their usability.

    You may replace the "keys.txt" in the EOF folder with this "EOF keys.txt", to make it appear with F1

    Or you may use and edit it as a standalone file, and give me recommendations.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I did this because I was anxious about what happened when I worked in EOF these last days.

    (Win 8.1 made an update without my consent)

    I felt like in the Twilight Zone    :wacko: .

    First :

    the crtl shift buttons remained selected after I released them (Info Panel).

    Impossible to work like that. I re-installed EOF, with default preferences : no change.

    Solution found : Seems like EOF must now be run as administrator to avoid this.

    edit : run as administrator was not a final solution.

    "Make the keyboard easier to use" (ease of access center).
    Windows update somehow turned on "Toggle keys by holding down NUM Lock for 5 seconds)

    seems the solution

    Second :

    I could not enter a note higher than 19.

    Not with the Keyboard (ctrl+F9 -F12), not with the mouse wheel.

    A higher number in the note window changed to a muted note !

    Solution found:  set the fret limit in "Track>Pro guitar>Set number of frets/strings"

    (problem caused when I re-installed EOF)

    Seeking for solutions, I found more :

    My middle mouse button now works to open the note window (shortcut N)

    (in the Logitech setpoint tool, I set it to "generic Button")

  18. I'm not convinced that training scales  in a DLC will improve your ability.

    I'm not equally fast on all parts of a scale,

    I'm much faster going down then moving up.

    A DLC can only give you different, but constant speeds.

    First you need to find a way to discipline the technique : Here's a good "Teacher" Pebber Brown

    After technique, what really improves your ability is being stoppwatched. I use an abandoned piece of shareware called "Stoppwatch 8.15.7" which can be configured to trigger on the direct input from the RS cable.

    Saves interim times in Excel and try to beat the record, its the best way to get fast. (This software is incompatible to win8.1 on which it only works sandboxed.)

    On a scale, my shortest interim between played notes is 0.190 ms, the worst are 0.500 ms with an average of 0,320ms.

    I found out that respecting technique gives best average results, not the fastest, but much less bad ones.

    Staying cool also gives better results.

    And that's why I doubt the DLC scales : At one time they stress you.

    You lose technique, coordination, finger push and release muscles co-activate, and speed gain is limited.

    It's like Usain Bolt vs Powell, the coolest wins.

    I also found out that my times in picking open chords are not much better.

    I need to improve the technique of my right picking hand, (alternating up & down) to unlock further progression.

    That gives me points of reference and motivation to improve. Yes learning outside of RS may seem dull.

    But using the Tone designer, you can fiddle around with Amps, in between exercises, and use them on the next go.

    Anyway, it would be a good idea to program a stoppwatched scale runner, should some student programmer reading this.

  19. Long time talking about developing costs, but I wonder why new front ends and search engines.

    I'm a contributor because this site is exceptionally well made, and really only needs some detail adaptations.

    On the donation page, there were regular changes, errors, transfers, and I could not make a relationship between the amount donated and the donation goal.

    When it comes to money, many good project go down the drain, not by lack of cash but by lack of honest administration.

    (My job consist in supervising correct financial administration and I get "feelings")

    Hope customsforge won't be another sad example.

  20. I'm most satisfied with my Ibanez GRG170DX with its flexible Tremolo system and 24 frets.

    And you can see a faithful review here, in it's variability in tones with 2 humbuckers and a single coil, all single selectable.

    At its price of around 300$, I can't see anybody convincing me for something else.

    But please do!

    Or you may go for a floating Tremolo version, which allows not only to bend down but also to bend up.

    Which would make it usable in Rocksmith.

    The flexible base system makes normal bending more comfortable, and less, less strings breaks.

    None for me, in fact.
