  1. About the language:

    I guess a charter will tag his release with the language name.So searching by Tags is a possibility.

    When tagging a release, it would be fine to read suggestions how to "tag" efficiently.

    Better would be a List of common Tags to select.

    About the difficulty,

    Lead may sometimes be impossible (Buckethead), while rhythm and bass of the same song may be easy.

    Those behind Dynamic Difficulty and RocksmithtoTab showed the way to estimate charts.

    I'm sure their experience will help to create and add a

    new automated function to the Toolkit, which estimates difficulty level of arrangements.

  2. After spending some time with a cDLC, I may realize notes are not on beats, tone is bad, sync is off, dd works badly, missing bass, vocals.

    I come back to customsforge to inform the charter, and I realize I had informed him 2month ago, and he didn't care, and has a hundred similar cDLC...

    I would like to know the charter before spoiling 20 minutes to realize the cDLC is worthless.

    EOF gives the opportunity in Song Properties to add text, but this text is not displayed in RS2012/14 (with the name of the song).

    Same for the Option "Track/Rocksmith/Popup messages" was not updated to RS2014 version.

    When I start to play a cDLC, I start in RR with slow speed. By the time notes are showing up, and lyrics start, I would have time to read who made the chart, which normally makes me think : oh no, not he again, or else, great glad he made this, what else did he do.

    For a bad charter, I would put the cDLC in a folder "to be corrected", instead of asking.

    I correct cDLC most of my time now, which does not give me much time to work on releases.

    So yes, I do sign my cDLC's in lyrics, and inform about other things, like versions, bonus arrangements, adoption, credits to Tabcreators.

    But I respect the integrity of lyrics, no mixing with comments.

    I can't follow people saying : No don't - :blink:- like some military command.

    Yes I do! And those who share my reasoning, please do like I do. B)

  3. Yes, what I meant to say is

    - the position to the nearest grid may be random, which makes grid snapping sometimes unpredictable, with R +ctrl+shift

    - sustains are moved, but they are not shortened to next grid as with R +ctrl+shift

    Useful to know for tech-notes at the tail of sustains.

    Tech-notes are not grid snapped moved with notes

  4. About grid snap shortcut keys :

    G: grid snap off/on
    G +shift : grid display
    , .            cycle grid snap settings (on/off; 1/4 to 1/48)

    With grid snap on:

    R +ctrl +shift : grid snap selected notes (and shorten/lengthen their sustain!) to closest grid, randomly forward or backward

    [ +ctrl           : move selected notes without shorten/lengthen sustain to previous grid snaps         (Quertz ü, Azerty right to "p")
    ] +ctrl           : move selected notes without shorten/lengthen sustain to next grid snaps   (Quertz +, Azerty right+1 to "p")

  5. I doubt this Egyptian scale video will be very useful to beginner's,

    I may be wrong, but this requires intermediate knowledge (about chords, cage system, basic scales) to exploit it.

    However to progress, Rocksmith-only won't help you, except Session mode.

    RS is a fantastic introduction to E-guitar, and it allows you to play with a band.

    That's all, it does not help you to improve and correct technique, on the contrary, it will teach you keeping bad habits.

    Youtube lessons are a must, however, it's a giant recycle bin.

    And all these "fast food" five minutes lessons don't offer a progressive or a complete program,

    so it's a great idea to create playlists of well done video's by topics and levels.

    Why not start with a Pentatonic minor and it's scale sequences, and related chords and arpeggios ?

    Here's a 90 minutes video from Pebber Brown (one of Buckethead's teachers) that covers that large topic, including a pdf sheet

    I'm currently gathering Youtube lessons, separating levels and topics, as I'm helping parents to get their kids interested in guitar play.

    So I'll keep an eye on this thread. B)

    But please keep it structured.

  6. nice idea, how about giving it more flexibility :  I prefer names of the following structure

    Buckethead - Gory-Head-Stump_v1_p.psarc or

    Buckethead - Gory_Head_Stump_v1_p.psarc or

    Buckethead - Gory Head Stump_v1_p.psarc

    giving the user the possibility to choose word separating characters.

  7. Muscle memory ?? Doesn't exist! In fact it's an automation process. The more you train certain patterns of scales, the less your brain has to tell your fingers what to do. All comes down to reflexes that are commanded not by the brain, but by nerves in the backspin.

    Patterns of notes don't care if they are played on lower or higher frets or strings, memorize them and play them anywhere.

    Besides speed is a coordination process of left and right hand. It may be that your fingers on the fret are faster sometimes than the right picking hand, so learn economy picking.

    Technique is important, keep all fingers close to or even on the fret, pick or fingers close to the strings.

    Any excessive movement is loss of time ( check youtube tutorials)

    The younger you are, the easier, faster and long-lasting this process, so don't loose time training scales.

    Unluckily I was born much too early  :(

  8. I've test r1350 with options checked in Win8.1

    "Make the keyboard easier to use (ease of access center)",

    In EOF these options don't influence the behavior of shift/ctrl anymore, except if you turn on

    "Sticky Keys". So don't.

    Another Question (resulting from the Sticky Keys Syndrome):

    EOF allows a lot of undo's and they often happen out of current display view.

    Would it be possible to see in the information panel what was the last action (to undo / or redo)

  9. Still not sure what showlight does, how to influence it, can't see no showlight option in Toolkit.

    Is this related to Rocksmith events, like in EOF Crowd happy, wild.

    Because I've no idea what is "High/Low Pitch tick" either

  10. I got strange behaviors like that, specially after setting leading silence in Audacity, and trying to make adjustments later in EOF. Maybe some ogg compatibility problem. Try reloading the mp3.

    There are also two options to add silence

    - Stream copy - silence is added lossless without re-compressing (could fail)

    - Re-encode - silence and wave data get re-compressed (not lossless, but probably meaningless)

    If you set silence out of EOF, in EOF you can adjust the notes and beats to the start of mp3 with

    song/properties/delay. Delay does not change the ogg. Try values until they sync.

  11. I would like to add that Lyrics (or Vocal track) don't have to be limited to song texts.

    Depending on free space it may be use to :

    - identify charter, version, credits, day of release , tabber ...

    - give instructions how to play a set of notes that RS doesn't display (i.e up/down strums ...)

    - give information about bonus tracks or techniques (i.e in exercises, ...)

    as there is no other way to display those.

    I mean of course at the beginning or end of song without interfering with Lyrics , or if it is instrumental only.

    When adding Lyrics directly in EOF, it's easy to write more words in a bloc, but it's recommended to reserve one word per bloc to get a good spacing between texts in RS.

  12. I could not find a help topic for the -n option.

    About different guessing options, I thought of respecting the real duration of sustains, (except if they have none) and fill in the rest with usual "rest", not dotted, and give the option to add this as a second track in Gp5. In weird guessing cases, it would be easy to copy the part of a correct guess from another track. Just an idea.

  13. All notes were perfectly snapped, when I find the reason, I'll inform you.

    I was rather sure that making DDC to know where to start and end a phrase would require to exponentially analyzing and comparing all groups of notes starting at 2 up to at least half the number of notes. While this is not impossible, we wouldn't need to do phrases then.

    Meanwhile, it's good to know that defining phrases is recommended.

  14. Thanks Chlipouni for the insight of the DDC process.

    I'm going to check the log files, but I'm rather sure, all set of notes in scale1 are (if you can decypher my image) absolutely identical.

    I can't understand why phrase Id 2 and 3 are not getting the same Id as Id 4 then.

    Question is if and how far the DD process interferes with phrases which have been defined manually in EOF.

    Am I right to conclude that the higher the phrase number in DDcreator, the more identical or similar set of notes can be found, and the more responsive becomes DD in RS?

    Usually I read recommendations to set phrase number to 4, so on what depends the best choice?

  15. Dynamic Difficulty is rarely well responsive in cDLC on phrase levels.

    When a phrase is leveled op or down, identical notes in other phrases don't level.

    This happens because most of us don't define phrases,

    Phrases are sub-elements of sections, they subdivide a section.

    A phrase should not cross two sections, it should not start before or end after a section.

    To avoid problems, usually the whole song is divided in sections (more or less respecting its note structure)

    and we check "also add as phrase"

    1 section = 1 phrase, while a section can have multiple phrases.

    We leave the task to define more phrases to the DD creator.

    It is easy to define phrases

    by using EOF "Catalog" in song menu, which is the most underrated feature because it seems always deactivated.

    Catalog gets activated when 2 notes at least are selected.

    It groups and names ranges of notes and finds all identicals.
    Catalog note blocs can be displayed (Q), and played below the main "Piano roll".

    Catalog note blocs can be named freely, and their name can be used as phrases "LeadScale1", "BassScale2" ...

    Instead of starting with a global song view (using Lyrics to structure), start with the 1st repeating pattern of notes.

    Procedure would be :

    1. Select the first repeating set of notes and define its name in Catalog.

       (it must start on a main beat called measure, to make it a start position for a phrase)

    2. Give the same catalog name to the phrase (shift+P) at the 1st beat of the selected notes.

    3. Use the catalog feature to search (F3) for identicals (sets current position on it's first note)

        (or shift+F3 to jump to previous identical)

    4. Give all found set of notes the same starting phrase/catalog name.

    5. Repeat procedure for next set of notes

    6, Check for unrepeated rest of notes following defined phrases (solo, intro, outro ...)

    7. Gather phrases into a section, without checking the "also add as phrases".

    This may need to be done for all parts lead, rhythm,bass, selecting "specific to PART_..."

    when adding a phrase.

    Catalog is not related to Phrases, it only helps to create them.

    This means you can give same phrase names, even if single notes, ending notes are different.

    This way Dynamic Difficulty works correctly.
    Success/fail on one phrase level adjusts all levels of the same phrase name (like in official songs)
    It may take more time, depending on the song, until one gets used to.
    And it helps analyzing song structures.

    Example :

    In a 1st section called "intro", 4 phrases are freely called "Scale1"  and another called "Scale2"

    http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/0d08/puniaho9c981301bg.jpg?size_id=6

    In a 4th section called "postvs", 1 phrase only among 2 others is called "Scale1"

    http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/f79b/w5235ha5t7lj69dbg.jpg?size_id=6

    I let the files go through the DD creator (with 6 phrases set) and it kept my number of phrases.

    http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/b167/25dmq383jhocdg2bg.jpg?size_id=4

    Now, when I increase the level in the section intro (it's not possible to increase the level of a phrase separately),
    the phrase "scale1" in the 4th section "Riff" is automatically increased, without being selected and only this phrase.

    Check XML level of the events
    The XML of EOF : Phrase names get replaced by a phrase ID (position depending)

    <phrase disparity="0" ignore="0" maxDifficulty="0" name="Riff1" solo="0"/>
    <phrase disparity="0" ignore="0" maxDifficulty="0" name="Riff2" solo="0"/>
    <phrase disparity="0" ignore="0" maxDifficulty="0" name="Riff3" solo="0"/>
    phrase disparity="0" ignore="0" maxDifficulty="0" name="Scale1" solo="0"/>
    <phrase disparity="0" ignore="0" maxDifficulty="0" name="Scale3" solo="0"/>
    <phraseIteration time="5.976" phraseId="4"/>
    <phraseIteration time="9.910" phraseId="4"/>
    <phraseIteration time="13.845" phraseId="4"/>
    <phraseIteration time="17.779" phraseId="4"/>
    <phraseIteration time="42.369" phraseId="3"/>
    <phraseIteration time="46.304" phraseId="4"/>
    <phraseIteration time="49.255" phraseId="5"/>

    All phrases Scale1 get the Id=4

    The XML of DD Creator : Phrase names of EOF get lost and replaced by another name and phrase ID

    <phrase disparity="0" ignore="0" maxDifficulty="3" name="p1" solo="0"/>
    <phrase disparity="0" ignore="0" maxDifficulty="3" name="p2" solo="0"/>
    <phrase disparity="0" ignore="0" maxDifficulty="3" name="p3" solo="0"/>
    <phrase disparity="0" ignore="0" maxDifficulty="2" name="p4" solo="0"/>
    <phrase disparity="0" ignore="0" maxDifficulty="2" name="p5" solo="0"/>
    <phraseIteration time="5.976" phraseId="2" variation="">
    <phraseIteration time="9.910" phraseId="3" variation="">
    <phraseIteration time="13.845" phraseId="3" variation="">
    <phraseIteration time="17.779" phraseId="4" variation="">
    <phraseIteration time="40.402" phraseId="8" variation="">
    <phraseIteration time="42.369" phraseId="9" variation="">
    <phraseIteration time="46.304" phraseId="4" variation="">
    <phraseIteration time="49.255" phraseId="10" variation="">

    Only the previous identical section seems to get a common ID.

    Maybe the DDcreator's can explain this.

    I hope to contribute to go beyond the "lazy Section=Phrase" option,
    to make cDLC closer to official quality

    and make Riff Repeator and Dynamic Difficulty work as they should,

    considering most users are probably beginners or enter intermediate level.

  16.

    So I take it that uninstalling that windows update didn't fix it for you?

    I didn't uninstall all back to the 14 august, as this could only be a temporary solution.

    I wanted to know the reason and hopefully found that in the "Make the keyboard easier to use" settings

    No, uninstalling  Security Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems KB299365 did not work for me.

    Unchecking all options in "Make the keyboard easier to use" (ease of access center) still resolved problem

  17. Obviously this sticky key with the ctrl and shift button is a windows problem.

    So I finally did the obvious and checked windows sticky keys,

    on win8.1 called "Make the keyboard easier to use" (ease of access center).

    They somehow turned on "Toggle keys by holding down NUM Lock for 5 seconds)

    They have some kind of humor, as I never asked for this.

    The sticky keys have gone, for a while ...

  18. I was rather skeptical about this project, but it has become an amazing tool.

    I'm sure it will generate ideas in peoples mind, they could not think of before.

    Like creating a compilation "Best of Buckethead's Riffs"

    I came up with the idea to convert the "etudes.psarc", which contains about 35 teaching lessons under names like "$[33147] - $[34420]"

    I also became nostalgic with Dos batch files. So I adapted Azreals batch file my way

    for dlc's I put on my desktop or in a folder on the desktop, to convert into a folder Gp5 on the desktop (on Win8.1)

    title RocksmithToTab Batch-Convert

    REM paths:
    set RS_PATH=%userprofile%\desktop
    \
    set GP5_PATH=%userprofile%\desktop\Gp5\

    REM Convert all files on Desktop:
    for /r %RS_PATH% %%f IN (*.psarc) do ( RocksmithToTab.exe -o %GP5_PATH% %%f -fgp5)

    I noticed, the "guessing" process of notes duration is wrong when notes duration were shortened by a "Rest" in the original GP file.

    It's not a big issue, but maybe it's possible to activate different guessing procedures, eventually by command line options like -g1, -g2.

    I also notice that some  cDLC don't convert, they have to be regenerated in the Toolkit first.

    They are not only elder ones.

  19. I briefly tested r1296 under different compatibility settings (Win8, 7, XP) w/without administrator rights.

    Results on my machine are the same and worse :

    Every shift or ctrl click remains sticked until released by another key (cap.lock or alt because they don't execute any command)

    Which means every note or range of notes gets selected, by simply clicking the left mouse button.

  20. sometimes when you press shift, it seems to "stick", and sometimes not work at all

    Thanks for confirming what I mentioned in this thread

    Same goes for the ctrl. This is very annoying, because you can select a whole range of notes not in view and change their position or status without realizing. To free the sticked key, I click on Cap.lock, which is neutral.

    I thought it may have to do with an update of Win8.1, since it started then, or compatibility settings, like administrator, but I was wrong,

    It starts and stops randomly

  21. Why do I always have to click first on topics where people ask for help. :huh:

    In EOF you add notes as they are played after one another. Then you select them all.

    In the menu Note, ProGuitar, Arpeggio, you select "remark" (or ctr-shift-G).

    All the notes are then gathered on the first, the ones played later are "ghosted".

    Thus is created your arpeggio chord, and all the notes included are marked with a blue/green background.

    With F you can set Fingers on the chord.

    To change the arpeggio chord, simple reselect other notes and remark /ctrl-shift-G
