  1. I would say Wishbone Ash, is anybody aware this band produces great guitar songs since the 70ies up to 2014.

Thanks to Joe2112 for giving us three early songs.

Andy Powell is a great prolific artist

Listen to that instrumental only release : what a pleasure this would be to play that guitar and bass on RS

  2. I have two FFDP , Hard to See and Bad Company in B Tuning, it's 4 string because I didn't have to use the hi-string,

works fine on my 5 string bass. There is also a discussion of the way to achieve B-Tuning, but recognition is not so good with emulated bass unless you have thick strings.

  3. Rocksmith is like reading a partition, if you don't try to get rid of it you won't memorize it no matter how perfect you can play it  ;)

For songs I like to memorize, I use FRAPS to make a playthrough, and a videoplayer (with stop, forward, backward, slowmotion, range play) to learn all parts without music in Amplitube, memorizing and automizing finger movements. No need for Riffrepeator or RS anymore, as I can rip videos from Youtube too. LOL

It also helps concentrating on metronome rhythm, and bend, strum up/down correctly.

I used RS 100% in the beginning, now with all free lessons available, and knowing RS flaws to make you progress, it has gone down to 10% of my guitar play.

  4. Thanks for your feedback and i do understand there is free stuff out there but i feel i would take it more serious and do better if it is coming out of pocket. If anyone else can help me out i'd appreciate it

What I ment to say, Pebber Brown also offers you personalized online teaching, if you want to pay, but at least you see before what you get. www.guitarmasterclass.net looks quite impressive too.

  5. Yes, Jamplay looks great, but there are a lot of good free lessons on youtube, and when you have made the tour of these, and reached a decent level, you can consider paying for online teachers.

Just check the great lessons of Pebber Brown, who not only adds documents to his videos, but he is one of the rare teachers that corrects your technique before you even start to play.

I'm working on his Caged 5 position system video (one of 600) for two weeks now, I posted the link here, somewhere in a video thread. He's also funny, maybe not intented, but funny nevertheless.

  6. An additional harddisk costs less then 60$, and my Rocksmith files take less then 40gb of a 700gb hd, so what's the point?

Use best quality whenever possible, don't reduce size of your mp3, use constant bitrate, I like to see 20mb cDLC, and frown at 3mb.

In case of missing preview, file sizes are not doubling, in fact they get shorter.

  7. Best way to start is to adjust volume of the mp3 right from the start in Audacity, in such way that the isolated top and bottom peaks of the wave form touch the window border. Some rare peaks (5-10%) may overide the borders, but not too many, because sound gets deteriorated, specially the heights. Check this with headphones.

From that on, you have a constant volume parameter on which you can rely to adjust the volume in RS as recommended above.

Tone adjustment depend on their gain/presence in the amp/pedals/cabinets adjustments.

Mostly the values lie under 25, for bass even under 20.

If your song has a lot of low fret / low string notes, make it louder.

If it has more hi-string/high frets, make it lower.

It may even be useful to use two different tones, for high and low notes, which are exactly the same, except for the volume.

However every tone that tends to be acoustic needs a lot more volume up to 40.

  8. I recommend that when you get these crashes, isolate the songs you played or wanted to play last in a subfolder of DLC.

Move this folder out of the DLC folder if you don't play these songs.

If you really want to use these songs, check customsforge, there may be a new or other version.

You can also import them in the Toolkit and repack them, so they get that default tone.

Check also if you have songs with same name which conflict. Names can be changed in Toolkit.

Check list of problematic songs here

That's the way I get rid of hangs, but I never had that many.

I would also check the Harddisk (i.e Harddisk Sentinel) for bad sectors,  which can corrupt song and program files.

  9. I'm also stuck with several projects. I like your initiative, we should make more team work here at cDLC, also it may not be so easy to work on same projects.

I particularly like your blackmoore's night releases, so I may check "Wish you were here".

I'm still reworking "manhatten" my notes on paper were quite different from yours, so I decided to tab them in GPro.

For a novice tabber, this is very timeconsuming, with great learning effects, to understand these damn art.harmonics.

Some measures sound better then yours, others not so good, a matter of pauses, sustains and staccatos.

I'll sent you the file by the end of this week.

I'll think I will add it as an additionnal arrangement and keep yours.

  10. Testing is a very time consuming repetitve process, specially because starting rocksmith is sooooo slooooow.

And you have to exit Rs to reload a changed psarc file, which you must not forget to copy in the DLC folder.

And if audio exclusivity is on, sound is cut off or lowered in EOF or GP, GPA, mulitasking is not always possible.

Believe it or not, in very fast scales, like John5, notes seemed ok in Eof (av delay well adjusted), but in RS in RR with a speed of 1, they where out of sync. Missing (grace)notes also become very obvious.

One major problem to seek and erase minor errors that make a great intuitive playable cDLC is that EOF has no real RS 3D preview and that you can't stop your cDLC in Riffrepeator and rewind to check the details I wrote about.

I would recommend that charters make a video playthrough in the final stage before release, which they can move frame by frame

forward/backward to check these stupid fret hand and finger position changes, and which arpeggio is required or not, and remove these strange notes in slides, place notes on more intuitive playable strings, i.e to make bends easier, instead of fret 2, set on lower string on fret 7 or 6.

  11. @ firekorn

I have about thirty cDLC I did which are not released.

Some are hard to do, I'm not satisfied with the notes, some parts are good, but too many are not.

When I don't like to play, why share them ?

There is a quality requirement, and that is self-criticism

I'm just waiting to get more experience in charting.

In fact I feel I need more ear training, achievable by youtube teaching lessons.

Sometimes working too long on a song blows your mind, requiring some distance.

But 2 month should be enough to check back with new ambition.

Riffrepeator, DD, tone volumes, acoustic tone, merging lead and rhythm notes are easy corrections to do

No one asks for difficult corrections : like tabbing notes yourself if they can't be found.

Of course, I sometimes use private messages for songs I care.

That's exactly why I came to the conclusion of an "autofollow" flag for charters.

And Test play is required :

90% of charts are not right, notes are not positioned on the right strings, slides have unplayed notes, fret hand positions are not correct, arpeggio's or ghost notes are missing, finger positions change when they can stay in position...

  12. I have found numerous problems in several CDLC's that I have downloaded here in the last several months. I'll partly take the blame because I don't always give feedback, but when I do it seems to go mostly goes unanswered. I can't tell you how many times I've gone to a song and read all the thank you's and great job's done and so on, just to download the song and have issues ..., but yes some people need to do a better job with their CDLC.

    Uncle

I can't agree more. It's easy to loose sight of the last 5-10 cDLC downloaded, you play 2-3, and then, some weeks later you stumble upon the forgotten.

It shouldn't be possible to thank, unless you have played it once.

But who can resist first enthusiasm?

But why are so many charters ignoring important corrections?

Some seem to be in a kind of altered state, where releasing more becomes obsessionnal.

I overcame this addiction. B)  They don't like to spoil time with past releases.

More seriously, I think they forget to follow their own release, they don't get the messages.

I would recommend the site administrators to add an "autofollow" for each Charter to his submitted cDLC.

  13.

Then I have a new bet:

"D" is the entry in the metadata "Artist Sort"

"beneatthe" is the entry in the metadata "Song Sort"

Import the song into the Toolkit and look at the fields - and change them to what you like while you're there ;-)

Bet won, but why use the metadata "Sort" instead of the real name

  14. I'm betting that your songs didn't get renamed using the metadata because you used "True" instead of "true",

Lost your bet :P . true give same result, it displays the metadata in the log, but doesn't use it.

    ex.

    Old Filename: D - beneatthe - v1_p.psarc

    New Filename: D - beneatthe - v1_p.psarc

    Artist: Dream Theater

    Song: Beneath the Surface

  15. but then crashes after almost completing it. It has done this twice on me so far. If you need a log or something to see why its crashing

Maybe you got a corrupted psarc like I do, the log won't help because it crashed before logging, so only the last renamed action is in the log file. Check by "dir" dos command which file comes next to last log file, and remove it from the folder

  16. Great tool, saves me a lot of time finding out and renaming several hundreds of old cDLC,

I archived in case of somebody asks for them, or in case they were better then later releases. :o

I give you some feedback (log file) to nourish your ambition B)

Some minor problems, because these few files can be renamed manually using the log info.

    I used

    Artist-Song-Separator: " - "

    Space-Character: " "

    Use-Metadata-Version: True

    Use-Metadata-DD: True

    Zero-Pad-Version: false

    - Short file names are not renamed

    Old Filename: A - B - v-v1_p.psarc

    New Filename: A - B - v-v1_p.psarc

    Artist: The Agonist

Song: Business Suits and Combat Boots

    Old Filename: Arc - Do - v1_p.psarc

    New Filename: Arc - Do - v1_p.psarc

    Artist: Arctic Monkeys

    Song: Do I Wanna Know

    Old Filename: D - beneatthe - v1_p.psarc

    New Filename: D - beneatthe - v1_p.psarc

    Artist: Dream Theater

    Song: Beneath the Surface

    Old Filename: Rock - WDC - v1_p (3).psarc

    New Filename: Rock - WDC - v1_p (2).psarc

    Artist: Funeral For A Friend

    Song: Waterfront Danceclub

Special Characters are lost (french, croatian ...)

    Old Filename: Téléphone_ça_c'est_vraiment toi_v1_p.psarc

New Filename: Tlphone - Ca Cest Vraiment Toi - v1_p.psarc

    Artist: Téléphone

    Song: Ca (C'est Vraiment Toi)

Maybe you have to set a "code page", ie 850

    The "The"

I normally remove the "The" in The Beatles to rename Beatles, The

This way all names are sorted together, whether "The" is used or not.

Bet you can't solve this :P

The Toolkit will soon manage the "The" issue in its name fields

Program crash with no log info

on a corrupted .psarc file, which I could only identify by a "Dir" dos command

to see which file followed the last renamed file in the log info.

Hey, fellows, don't forget to "THANKS" the newbie Darrken, wish we get more of newbie contributors,

    and little less leechers.
