pretty fun song https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4zebKHkDZhIVW5WNFNaSU9iODA/view?usp=sharing all my basses have to few frets so i probably wont get a better score.

but the 23th fret doesn't count anyhow since the latest update

ah i had no idea.... i tried to bend to the 23 fret and it seemed to register but the score... multiplier was unaffected.

same thing for me ! i had some recognition system problems during the last (and most easy) part tho

Maybe this isn't the best place to ask this, but...

Does anyone have any advice for building up finger speed, strength and endurance for some of the faster music on bass?  I've been working on playing Amorphis Under the Red Cloud, but after playing the song a few times, my fingers are completely worn out!  Most of the song is pretty easy, but there are a few of the faster sections that I struggle with.

left hand, right hand or both ? most important thing is to stay relaxed

Right hand.  I play finger style/finger picking style, if that makes a difference, I can't use a pick.  I generally use three fingers during the faster sections, but like I said, my fingers get pretty tired.  I am making progress, yesterday my (right) hand was dead tired after playing through Under the Red Cloud twice, today I managed to play it three times before they gave up on me.   :)

I try and keep both of my hands relaxed, but do find my self tensing up from time to time.  So any more advice?

well, the thing about 3 finger technique is that it's easy to start to hit the strings with a lot more force than required, and you end up getting tired even faster than with 2 fingers... and that unexperimented ring finger can get tired easily too. work on that by playing stuff with constant 16th notes (power metal did the trick for me) and endurance will come in no time (pay attention to not making triplets or gallop though). Did you try to play it with 2 fingers only ? Maybe you will find it less tiring. And playing it with a pick will definitely be easier too !

@@JokerTheAnarchist we're all sorry to hear that, mate...

Cool bass lines that week, i also think that Invaders is the hardest Maiden bassline i have ever played.

Have you played Gengis Khan a few weeks ago ? ;)

Rime of the Ancient Mariner is definitely a harder one too !

guys, a kind of weird blank ad appears over the customsforge page when I open it, i couldn't access to anything, do you have the same problem ?

( but I fixed it by using the "inspect" function and suppressing it B)  ! )

  4. hey guys, and happy new year everyone :D
here's an ok score because I'm too lazy to practice, and I don't really like this song :

    Hangover cured boys.

Master Class Bass 99.82% (I could very easily 100 this, but the song is soo long and boring to play haha)

Of course it is since you're not play a bass, but 6:30 is not really long.

On real bass it is boring as well

I wouldn't say boring or long, bass or not, but it's definitely no fun to play for me :( I need to start filling the song selection list (you guys too)

(glad to see I'm still the first at MC bass this year ;) !)

  5. okay @@JokerTheAnarchist... I thought my bait was too obvious, but you're free to take it anyway :') I'll mess with you a little more :

    http://i65.tinypic.com/2ls7yv.jpg

don't get too cocky when you've beaten up this score tho, you don't even realize that you would need years of practice to get your stamina and 3 finger technique solid enough to play it on an actual bass.

                ( sorry guys, I know, I'm a kid :') )

  6. I have Christmas Wrapping up over 98%.

So are there no FreeBirds planning on trying this track on a tuba through a microphone?

here's my disastrous try on keyboards lol

    http://i64.tinypic.com/2ql9zif.jpg

yeah I can't sightread bass tabs on keyboards :'( they should put an option for sheet music (that would make us lazy bass and guitar players learn to read them, which would be cool)

and a better try on BASS !

  7. HEY GUYS
just had some tries at that rainbow song (I made a mistake on the easiest part :| )

    http://i67.tinypic.com/se3fx1.jpg

I'm not going to spend practice time on this one, I would say 7 in difficulty
I just used it as a warm up to practice one of the hardest (and best) songs I've ever played... Fatal Tragedy is nooo joke.

ALSO ! I'll just leave this link here :
    http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/719817-A-guide-to-achieving-low-latency-in-Rocksmith-on-PC-Forums
Highly recommending it... it really made the game better for me, as I had some latency before.

    RS2014RE Updated Steam news

is realtone cable going to past?..

so we can play acoustic guitar... can't wait to see some Paco De Lucia as MC lead song ;) would play it for sure

  8. Late, but successful attempt at Gengis Khan ! Some serious 3-finger stamina exercise here, what was this doing in Advanced class ? I would say 8 in difficulty ! and definitely less for babymetal (tried it one time with sound muted, but didn't practice it more because damn, I hate those baby voices)

    http://i66.tinypic.com/2ry2cg5.jpg

sorry guys for having put Fatal Tragedy on the list, we MC bass and GoG players are gonna have some hard times this week...

I foresee an evening of tone designing ahead! :P  On the topic of which, what tones do you guys have on your hotkeys?  I'm guessing it's a good idea to have one clean, one distorted, but what else?

I don't.  I turn the bass right down in the game and send my bass signal directly to my amp.  That way I can actually hear how I sound (bloody awful, usually lol).

how do you do that ? bass into amp with jack then amp into PC with real tone cable ? can't this damage the cable or something ?

  10. happy birthday to you, bassmate @@Vodka !

slowly gaining ground in my battle against recognition system, only misses are definitely due to it. I start to pray when I have to play something like 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2, that's pretty annoying. I think it's just the A string, anyone has advices to get rid of that ? please guys

    http://i65.tinypic.com/qr19g4.jpg

this one is more like 7-8 difficulty to me. pretty cool song tho

@@JokerTheAnarchist I did`t try offence to you. It was only advice, how make everyone happy. Of course you can to play emubass, its allowed.

Allowed bcs :  We can use the rule only if we can monitor compliance. Everything else is on the conscience of the participants

I can't really understand what you wrote in orange...

it basically means that it's pretty unfair, but if it was forbidden we couldn't verify if it's respected so it's your choice if you're happy with winning without a bass.

But no problem, I'm as free as a bird now.

*Mics up cazoo. Scores a trillion in MCbass*

and this bird is trying this as soon as possible

It didn't feel any different. I would just need a week to get used to the bigger fret spaces, but that's about it.

What about the evidence  that you are as good  with real bass,  as you is good with guitar (emu-bass)? Then everyone will be happy. And then you can safely use emulated bass in future, everyone will know that you is a god both instruments. :)

It's not about being sure that @@JokerTheAnarchist can do 100% with a bass, that does not matter ! It's about not using that kind of advantages, to make sure that everyone is not getting "forced" to use them if they want to reach the same scores.

I don't know man. Emulated Bass is in the game, it's there to be able to play bass arrangements with a guitar, why shouldn't we be able to use it? It's part of the game. It's not cheating.

It's not cheating, but it's easier than playing a real bass. It's just about keeping the fun of the competition : as I was saying, there's no point of playing a bass if you can play a guitar with octaver more easily.

    @@Steven Briquette

And no offense, but what makes you think that for us "talented MC lead guys", switching to an actual bass guitar would be harder?

    - because you're guitar players

    - because bass is not a guitar tuned an octave lower, it's way harder (already said that).

Just pick a bass, play the MC bass song, and post your score. If it's as good as your emulated bass score, then perfect. I'm not even saying that you couldn't make it ( using the word "talented" was not sarcasm dude, of course you're a good player ) , it's just no fun to use a guitar instead.

    hey guys
This is my best score on MC bass with an actual bass, after some work in riff repeater and more than 15 tries on score attack, trying both fingerstyle and with a pick.
    http://i67.tinypic.com/2hd7hmq.jpg

And this is my best score with emulated bass, with less than 5 tries...

    http://i68.tinypic.com/6pahli.jpg

don't trust the play count, I practiced first on bass then on guitar and then on bass again, and made a lot of incomplete plays

And I'm a shitty guitar player, I never practice, and feel really uncomfortable when playing guitar.
So yeah, of course for you talented MC lead guys any MC bass song is a piece of cake if you play it on emulated bass...
but playing bass is not playing guitar with an octave pedal that tunes you an octave lower. Bass is WAY harder than this because of bigger strings, more force required, harder string muting, etc. "MC Bass" is not "MC lead but without playing chords and solos"

I'll always get better scores on emulated bass than on real bass. - Not even mentioning the fact that most of (if not all of) my misses on this song are notes that I actually played right, but got misses because of shitty recognition system and my bass not supporting dropped tunings -
So it's like doping in sports competitions. If I only wanted to make the best scores I can, I'd just tryhard on guitar and stop playing bass on rocksmith. Sorry if I take things too seriously, but come on, let us have some fun, don't accept scores from emulated bass.

Hope other bass guys agree with me ! have a good evening ;)
