Since I've been focusing on a lot of bass work lately, I've realized how much some of my older bass tones sucked and even still, I am not yet very great at designing bass tones. My experience with bass playing in general is extremely limited. If anyone has better bass tones for any of my CDLCs, please send them over and I will include them... I am working on updating CDLCs that need better bass tones like Quiet, Perfect and others

Yeah it is crazy to me how I've played guitar for 30 years and within the past year or so, when working on audio mixing, it occurred to me "what does the bass sound like anyway?"  It just another rabbit hole for me to chase as well.

  2. I tell you what would be super cool....if perhaps you know someone who could put together CDLC for "Love" and/or "An Ode to No One".    I was thinking Ode had one but it wasn't very good...but checking, I don't think anyone anyone ever did one.  And it is such a  fun song to play.

  3. Yeah, over the past year or so I have been working with self-recording and learning about mixing.  I actually did Nail the Mix for a bit just to get into the finer points of audio work.  I have noticed that the more I learn to really hear what is going on, the less I enjoy RS because the harshness you were talking about is almost unbearable.  But I figured you had some background because your tones are better than a very large majority of CDLC...not just getting the effect(s) right but the EQ and the smoothness to the sounds.

  4. Just saw that announcement last night.  Never was a Jane's Addiction fan.  But they will be about 2 1/2 hours from me next week and I am working on being able to fit it in.   From the dates I saw, I think its cool they are playing some off the normal touring path venues.   It has to be way more difficult to get those things set up than just playing major cities, but I respect the bands that do that.

I jumped the gun on the Bodies upload... main distortion tone is too muddy and I'm trying to dial in a better tone to update. This one is tricky cus its very heavy distortion but very tight and mostly lacking high range. The playing is so fast it really needs to be dialed in a specific way to sound clear - and I haven't really been able to get Rocksmith to handle this kind of tone very well

Got a pretty good tone right now going, sounds great on its own but still not quite matching the song mix

Havent tried it yet, but in the past your tones are spot on.  Youre worst enemy is the limits of RS itself.

I'm working on a couple non-SP songs but should have them done soon

If anyone has any requests for the next SP let me know, redo of anything already here or otherwise.. don't have anything particular in mind just yet

(will prob do Snail if no requests)

How about "Ugly" or "Cherry".  Very underrated in my opinion.

Thanks for the great feedback! I really appreciate it.

It is somewhat difficult to get the tones right for SP songs since they are so heavily layered and processed. Its fairly easy to get good sounding tones without the song playing, but once you try to add them over the song it becomes much harder to find a sound that fits in the mix.

You're limited to 4 tones per arrangement (L/R/B) so that's not too bad, but when it comes to SP the songs have lots of little variations in the different sections so it can become a problem when you're obsessive like I am

I was also heavy into SP back in junior high and highschool.. they were huge for me, first band I saw live also. I saw them on the reunion tour a few years back and it was amazing... they played for a few hours and hit pretty much every song I'd want to hear, along with quite an incredible stage show. If you're able to see them on an upcoming tour, I'd really recommend trying to go. I haven't been much into their recent albums and I'm hoping the MCIS sequel they are currently working on changes that.. but they still have the magic live & its great to see the whole band (minus D'Arcy) back on stage.

    Hummer should be up shortly.

I'm much the same way about the newer stuff.  Just doesn't hit me the same for whatever reason.

It's funny you mention the live show...it really just dawned on me that I never saw them live.  I used to hit a lot of shows back in the late 90s early 2000s, even bands I didn't care for much, but I don't even recall the opportunity to see them live.  I'm from the St Louis area....I'm sure they had to have came through though right?  I haven't been to a legit concert in over a decade now....but I really would consider it if they come through.  I mean, I had tons of live bootlegs for them....remember viewphoria?  And that jam, breakdown during Silverfuck?  I freakin loved that riff!

  8. Was just able to run through the Some "Lead" and play the tones on their own.   Once again your tones are great.  I love the multi effect.  I just sat and noodled with that for 10 mins by itself!   I imagine SP is really tough to create tones for considering everything they through in there.

Everything seems great on the play through.  As a player I don't really ever notice how certain things are shown on the note highway.  So you are probably just being too hard on yourself as the creator to make those octave bends look right.

Bottom line is that it is 110% better than the other version out there (not that I don't appreciate the work it took for even the "lesser" CDLC).  Didn't realize that we are limited to 4 effects in a song...that makes it even harder to make a really good SP track.   I can't tell you how much I appreciate the stuff you are putting out on CF.  I have a bunch of your work now and its great fun.  I literally grew up to playing along with the tab book from Siamese Dream everyday after school as loud as I could before my parents got home.  Playing this stuff again just reminds me how much I love guitar and music.  Thank you.

Ok, got the Soma solo tabbed out, and most of the intro/clean sections. Still have to do all the distorted parts and bass. I have some good tabs I'm working with but the best is in text format and I'm transcribing my own tab arrangements. With any luck I may be able to get it done sometime this weekend. Still gotta beat sync the chart and all that tho.

I'm also working on adding the lyrics to all my already completed SP songs.

    Man..this is SO much appreciated!

Man, I tell ya what... making all these CDLC and playing along, I really appreciate Jimmy Chamberlin as a drummer even more.

Yeah.  He was the first drummer that (as a pure guitarist) I recognized as bringing songs to life as much as a melody or lyrics etc.
