  1. How's the game for ps3 i'm playing it on a ps4 so i'm a little curious. Also is anyone excited about MGS online.

I don't have it, but it runs between 20-30 FPS, so (very) slightly worse than GTA5. While I found GTA 5 bearable on PS3, MGSV seems to be dropping way more, thus performing like crap. Then again, it is 10 year old hardware, so what they've squeezed out of it is awesome, but seems like a bad idea to me, really...

It also clearly inferior port to X360, which seems to more or less constantly perform like 5 FPS better. Nothing to write home about, but on those low figures it does make a noticeable difference.

  2. Yes, you'll have to redeem the disc version on Steam anyway (with the option of logging to UPlay during gameplay) anyway. Since the game is also a SteamPlay game, you might be occasionally able to find the "Mac version" a bit cheaper, yet being the exact same game when redeemed on Steam.

And since they're all practically the same version, the CDLC will work on them all.

  3. I haven't tried active pickups, but both my guitar and my bass have passive ones and at least for learning they're just fine and many players use passive pickups even when gigging. I guess it all comes down to preference of what sort of sound you're looking for.

I might be interested in changing the pickups on my bass, but just because they've been made by Cheap-o Co., not because they're passive.

  4. While I haven't done that many CDLC's in the past, I've never had this problem, and I'm a bit lost. So long story short, these show up and work perfectly:

But e.g., these do not. Later on when green/orange repeats, they show up correctly again.

What am I doing wrong here? First I thought it was somehow about the sections, so I completely removed them but nothing. Doing non-DD.

  5. I was just chuckling away at this parody on YouTube: "Things beginner guitarists say" - Jared Dines but when he got to "praising" B.C. Rich I found that a bit weird and googled up about that, and seems that they're getting some bad rep out there. Now the reason I'm asking is that I found one locally (Korean made), for quite cheap as apparently it need some little maintenance, and while I haven't still seen it now I'm not that sure if I even should.

I understand that the "edgy" look might not be for some, but then again I don't like Les Paul's either (oh yes, I just went there) so that's not really what I care about, but I've read that the overall build quality is a bit so-so. Now I'm still a very beginner so I'm not looking for a high end guitar by any means, just something to keep in Eb or so for those metal songs that I play, so that I don't have the need to constantly re-tune.

I read that the pickups are quite shitty, but I guess that would be a great way to learn to change them as well. I can solder, just don't have the tools currently and haven't done it in years, but I'm pretty sure I could get that done anyway.

Do you think that a Warlock would be worth it, or should I just scrape the idea in full and take a look at other stuff that's available?

  6. I finally got (around making things) it working with OBS. Biggest problem was getting the sound run through headphones and OBS simultaneously, but I finally managed to figure that out as well, and now it all works pretty nicely. I'm getting some framedrops in the recording, but I'll try to tweak that a little - still, not much you can do with HD 4000, but I feel now it's better than what I got with Screenflow. A bit lower resolution, but I doubt anyone on YT honestly cares.

Just gotta see how I'll manage the guitar cam. Now my face puts young Brad Pitt to shame, whereas the rest of me is the laughing stock of Jabba the Hutt, so I'll have to see if I have the means to crop anything gut the guitar out. Although not sure it that makes much sense either...

  7. Well my country is banned by PayPal, and there is no option for paying with a gift card in PayPal (technically there is, but it's either Visa gift cards or MasterCard gift cards etc which I can't find where I live). So is there any other method I could contribute to the site? I could buy like an iTunes or Amazon gift card and give it to the admin if that makes "Peon" vanish from my title :)

If someone was to approve that (@@Amin gets a promotion then) I could take e.g. BTC in exchange for PP donation, I could do that for $5-10. Could donate some myself at the same time.

Although 'Peon' is according to the post count, right?

  8. One thing I have found that makes a huge difference to fps while recording is going into your task manager and making the rocksmith process have high processor priority. This seems to smooth things a lot.

I'll give this a try tonight, thanks!

I use Bandicam myself (desktop pc), but I have heard great things about Open Broadcaster software and I know it is what Kailjin uses to capture all his vids.

I tried Bandicam (along with few other OSX-specific recorders) without much success. I'll give this a go.

    2. I don't know of a sub 100 dollar one, the Avermedia Elgato is extremely popular but Amazon has it listed for $135.00 right now. However unless you're offloading the encoding to another computer this will not help you. So what I mean is you'd need to run Rocksmith on one computer, and have the Capture Card connected to another PC that was actually doing the encoding that would be connected to video out on the first PC.

I do have my old C2D computer unused, although not sure if that's really useful anymore nowadays.

  9. I'd like to record some gameplay videos, but I guess my computer is just not up to it since I get like 25 fps while recording. Unless I totally butcher the quality, that is. Without recording I get nice and stable 60fps.

    Guess my questions are:

    1. Would recording to an external HDD help at all? I got some laying around, 7200rpm ones I guess, but only USB2.0.

    2. Is there any, say sub-$100, recorder solution that would be useful? In times past I've heard of Elgato and the likes, but do they help when the source computer is slow to begin with?

  10. I'm thinking about a system color or symbol for visualising the available parts (Lead, Rythm, Bass, Vocal & Multitrack)

I kinda like the idea but will this start to be a little too much information in just one little image?

  11. @@Huumetucca, at mac you need ability to run nvdxt.exe so you'll be able to generate dds files. I'm thinking of switching to nvtt libary(core lib of nvdxt) so you could use it without wine and so on. you can wait untill I'll switch to nvtt or switch to PC version of the toolkit(there was one wiveskined version somwhere here).

It's already known issue, sorry :)

Ah, okay, cheers. I guess I just need to reinstall my Windows then.

  12. I see most of the CDLC here are for PC only (for the pretty obvious reasons, I guess) but as a Mac user I have to run the conversion and every now and then I see others asking for that also. So that got me thinking what does the community in general think about doing the conversion, checking that it works, uploading it to e.g. Mega and then leaving a link in the comment of the original upload for the author to either include in it or not?
