  1. I didn't sign up because while I was doing some reading on it I found out that the sub version doesn't print the tabs, so you can only use it on the computer.

I knew there would be a catch...

If you want to print them to paper you need to buy the individual tabs outright.

So, you can't screencap and print those?

  2. Midnight release in the UK :D . Might be cos R* North is Scottish (I think?).

Started life as DMA Design in glamourous Dundee, started on fairly generic side-scrollers, but produced Lemmings in the early 90's, and the first GTA in the mid-late 90's. Moved to edinburgh, because they're all fur coat and nae knickers these days.

  3. Couple of other things to watch for.

If you're putting heavy gauge strings on something with a trem, you may need to adjust the spring tension to get the trem properly balanced. This is pretty simple(open the back cover, adjust the screws securing the claw to the body).

Also, depending how the nut is cut, much larger strings may require some of the slots to be widened, which is really best done with both experience and the correct tools.

  4. I tired one a few years ago; I did quite like it, but ended up going with an SE Custom instead. Build quality is great. Only thing I would advise is a set of straplocks(I go for Schallers as default, but my Jackson came with Dunlops. None of them have broken yet, so as far as I know, they're all good), because nothing will spoil those good looks faster than being dropped on the floor.

Well, except maybe being dropped on a landmine.

  5. I have an MIM strat. It's been in the process of being refinished for a while(family stuff has been getting in the way), but it's a good guitar.

Fingers crossed it still is after I'm finished with it.

  6. Some people get upset to learn that there's a McFly CD next to my Megadeth CDs and Lady Gaga sandwiched between Lacuna Coil and Lamb of God. I'm eclectic. I don't really think of them as guilty pleasures as such, the title is reserved for my love of Eurovision...

Nothing wrong with Eurovision. Whether it's the suggestive milkmaids in the Polish entry, or the fact that Alestorm did a cover of Estonia's 2008 song, Wolves of the Sea...

Anyway, the thing in my music collection that probably doesn't 'fit' the rest of it is, more than likely, the collection of Gilbert & Sullivan light opera.

  7. I'd buy a Strat in a heartbeat.  No point arguing one way or another, it's just what you prefer.

I'd definitely get in a shop and try out some guitars though, don't just buy something online cause it looks nice.

Besides, if looking nice was what you were after, the PRS SE range sits around his price point, and they're very pretty.

  8. You're in Serious Guitar territory with the budget. Id go for a U.S. made Strat on the second hand market. But I think you could also get an American special new for that price.

Can't comment on SGs. But I think a new Gibson is in range.

Must be nice to have that cash burning a hole in your pocket

In that price range, it's probably more like a new Gibson SG Special. I have one, and I do like it... BUT... the neck is chunky, and it;s poorly balanced(to the extent that I'm considering buying a Bigsby to add some weight to the heel end).

And having played a friend's SG standards(Gibsons, one with humbuckers and one with P90s), I can tell you they do feel very different(though not as good as my LP classic).
