  1. Maybe the plays through at 90% are helping more than I thought.  Just before I shut down for the evening I had another go at score attack and whilst I still felt way out of my depth and like I was just thrashing around, I was surprised that I managed to get up a bit  If I keep running through at 90% speed, maybe I can get up over 80% accuracy.

    Beginner Lead 75.36%

  2. @@MonstaS4 I don`t know why all think that it very hard. I feel it very similar difficult as was one a song by Metric, all phrases learnable, usually base scales, no any shreds, skip strings and fast chords. My skill is bad, but i got >99% after a few plays, that usually is impossible for int a song.

@ - You're absolutely right, there's nothing complicated about the structure of the song.  It's just the sheer speed that causes the problem for me.  I can play the song reasonably at 85-90%, but that last 10-15% is a huge difference.

It's no problem though, I'm still practising it, and learning from it, although at a lower speed level.  I'm working to miss the least notes possible at a full play through at 90% in RR  :)

@@diddie17 wow, I did not expect that so it will be difficult. Sorry.

It might not be, it might just be that all of the alcohol that I've had over Christmas has settled in my fingers  :).  How the other beginners do will tell us if it's just me.

I'm ok to keep going on it though, getting the speed up is part of learning.

I had the same feeling that you @@diddie17 with this song : before my first try I thinked that it would be easy but rapidly my smile disappeared from my face...

I am today confortable at the speed of 75%, and I'm not sure I will be able to play this song at 100% before next saturday. But I like this song and I'll try to practice more than usual.

So good work and good luck to the beginners ! :) To be continued...

    Thanks @@Sebastien92.

I've put some more time into it tonight, but I'm not going to submit another score unless I get much better.  Right now, any improvement would be because I just get lucky thrashing away, and by chance happen to hit more notes than previously.

I'll keep practising, but realistically, there is no way I will sensibly be able to play this within a week, neither my fingers or my brain work quickly enough  :)

  4. When I saw the song I thought I was going to enjoy this one.  In reality though, it's way too fast for me at my level, I'm comfortable playing it at 85%, struggle at 90% and am totally lost at 100%.

We're here to improve though and so I'll keep going at it  :) .

Just as a marker though and to give at least a target to beat, first score is -

Beginner Lead - 63.28%  (played on score attack easy, but I don't think that's an issue as there's no DD)

  5. Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone, It looks like I'm in good company with the day.  Listening to Buffalo Riot on Soundcloud right now!

I had a crack at the intermediate lead and am struggling.  First score is here, but I'm struggling with the speed in certain areas, and also the note recognition at the standard D tuning.

    Intermediate Lead 79%

  6. Happy birthday @@diddie17 , I'd usually do a little famous birthdays bit but I am a bit tipsy and no fit form to operate a search engine :) hope you're having a good day and no one bought you a Christmas/birthday present instead of.getting one for each occasion, that is just not cricket! :)

Thanks @@NoonyDeloony, I had a great birthday!  In some ways not a great time of year to have a birthday, but on the flip side, I've never had to work on my birthday, and I pretty much always get to spend it relaxing and having fun with the family :)

  7. Well, it is ultra close at the top of the bottom  :).

I switched guitars to the strat with 10's on instead of the Brian May with 9's on to see if I could get better note recognition.

It gave me a little, but not enough to beat @@franfit , only to draw, but with a better streak.  Hopefully that's enough to take me back to the top by the tiniest fraction.  Sorry @@franfit, although I'm pretty certain you've got more in you yet  :)

    Beginner Lead - 93.29% - 148 Streak

  8. I did have a crack at intermediate, but its pretty clear that I'm not good enough for intermediate yet.  I still need my training wheels :).

There were several sections of the song I couldn't get anywhere close to.  I couldn't get more than a third of the way through on score attack, but eventually managed to get enough of the hard sections on "Learn a Song" to get a play though without DD kicking in.

    Intermediate lead - 85%

  9. I guess I need fingers that move faster for Christmas.

After playing this for what seemed to be a million times, but Rocksmith says 36 times, I got a small improvement.  I'm not sure I can do any more, so I'll have a go at the intermediate and see if I can get a score that's at least not too embarrassing.

    Beginner Lead = 93.01%

  10. Rule #2 (It's allowed on Easy, providing no DD)..

Not sure about the timing tolerances though! I suppose everyone should play on easy for non-DD songs, to ensure fairness. :)

At a subjective level, I just had a quick go on easy, and it doesn't seem to change my scores any, so probably it makes zero difference.

I'll probably stay with hard, and use easy only if I can't get through a song without 3 big red X's  :)

  11. So here's my final score for Metallica - Die, Die My Darling (were you curoius about what happens when you play non-DD song in Score Attack at Easy difficulty? It's just like playing on Hard):

    Begginer Lead - 97.35%, streak 183

I could well be wrong, but I thought I had read somewhere that the timing tolerances were more forgiving on easy than hard and so even with DD removed I thought we were required to submit hard score attacks and not easy ones.

As I said though, I could well be wrong, and I'm happy for someone more knowledgeable to educate me.

  12. Once again I'm out.  Beginner song too difficult for me on lead and has no rhythm section.  Think I might be out for good this time, don't think I'm cut out for guitar.  Good luck guys.

@@Collision - Don't give up!  Different songs work for different people.  I couldn't even post a score last week, Just couldn't get to grips with it.

I must admit I'm not a hugely competitive person and so it doesn't bother me when I'm at the bottom, but I do try to use it as inspiration to improve.

I look at the improvement @@Smile has made and it gives me hope.  Of course he practices until his hand is about to fall off.  I don't think i have that dedication and time.  He has gone from beginner through to MC in an amazingly short time though.

As long as you can see any improvement over the last month or so then it's worth it!

What are you having issues with?  I only ask as it might be something like note detection or something holding you back and someone might have some good tips to help.
