  1. Damn it get me in ^^ but i can't guarantee how often i can test and so on. Health problems and so on.

I wouldnt treat this thing other than casual in a million years, the key to ejoying RS and this community for me is to have a casual and relaxed approach, so were in the same boat ;) dont worry and thank you.

  2. ^^ it was more a sacastic joke than the truth, of course i can't even play every cdlc but thats a diffrent story.

Just saw it as a chance to let everyone else who thinks they are not good enough to join in on the fun, after all all this talk and we only have 2 names on that list haha.

  3. I think the same way. But i will never be a tester xD i'm not good enough for that.

Hey man, im not good enough for almost all CDLC here but its cool whatever we can do to test should be ok, even if you only comment about the tone of the guitar it should be good enough dont worry ;).

  4. Just make this a sticky, also, im pretty much ok with the idea of several people testing the same, the fact that we mention what we test is to let others know of how many people are already on that, lets say we have 3 testers on 1 single song, a 4th or 5th can do another song... thats my intention at least.

  5. So if u ask me Post a List and leave a comment on every CDLC u test.

I agree, we can make this list include which CDLC we have tested, shouldnt be a big deal, just as a reference, like

    TESTERS:

    CrazyEddie

    ***************

-Song X (tested) -link to DB entry with our comments about the test we did over there-

    JayEm

    *********

-Song y (tested) -link to DB entry with our comments about the test we did over there-

And so forth, the editing in here should be minimal specially if you PM me the info (CDLC you tested and the appropiate link to its DB entry), would just be copy/paste.

  6. I agree with Olorin and to answer his questions, ill put up my name in anyones list as a "tester" on WEEKENDS, thats when i can make a commitment to test a couple of CDLC´s inside out, if i can do it in weekdays then awesome but i wouldnt count on that, im not the best guitarrist hell im not even good haha but whatever i can do to help by any feedback i can give ill be happy to do so, so if anyone else would like to do the same add yourself to this list im starting in your own post and keep the previous names in the list with any specifications of your own:

    TESTERS:

    CrazyEddie (on weekends).

Ill be posting updated lists over at http://customsforge.com/topic/1621-the-testers-list/ so if you are up for it let us know here, thanks.

  7. This comes from the discussion over at http://customsforge.com/topic/1470-the-need-to-separate-good-cdlc-from-unfinishedbad-one/

Basically this is a list of guys willing to commit some of our time to testing CDLC and commenting our findings be it at the workshop pertinent to that CDLC, via PM and/or the google docs below, if you need anything tested let us know by posting here or via PM to any of us at the list below, PERSONALLY i preffer PMs that way i get a notification so yeah, also let us know if you would like to test CDLC, this is an open group and we are happy to get more guys to join just try to keep it relaxed and follow our example, cheers :).

COMPLETE LIST OF TESTED CDLC: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqgJhtukD_LedE85eVg4V3E2TjlZZ0t0RFJnNlZSU1E&usp=sharing%C2%A0

GUIDELINES FOR TESTERS(this are suggestions but we would really appreciate any tester keeping close to them):

-If you plan to test CDLC on a constant or semi-constant basis please let Olorin or myself know(its much more convenient for us if you do it via PM, BTW) that way we will add you to the list.

-Its not a job, you can do it on your own speed but we do ask you to report your feedback in at least two places, 1) the CDLC/workshop post of that particular song and also the GOOGLE DOC(link up there).

-If you report feedback at the CDLC post please go as much in detail as you feel to but when posting feedback in the google doc please try to keep it short and simple, read the first feedbacks to see how we did it and take from that example.

-Also please be sure to post links to the particular file you are reviewing for clarity sake.

A little explanation on the google docs entries logic:

As you can see we have the basic information colums: Artist, Song, Testers, Link, Status and Feedback.

***Artist/Song: self explanatory, name of the artist and the particular song you tested.

***Testers: basically, US, you, whoever has valid feedback for the CDLC.

***Link: link to the CDLCDB/WORKSHOP/FILE you tested, try to keep them valid in case the autor of the CDLC changes something.

***Status: The current status of the TESTING DONE on the CLDC, NOT the status of the charter project/CDLC, i.e. if it needs more TESTING, if it has been fully tested or not, personally i manage 2 status, FULLY TESTED(which i color GREEN) and AWAITING TESTERS (means me or someone tested the CDLC but would also like for more people to give us feedback on that particular CDLC, specially if i/we didnt tested ALL the features in the song, for example i only tested the bass but no lead)

***Feedback: BASIC feedback, specially short comments that summarize your findings, feel free to go into more detail when posting in the particular CDLC entry at the database or workshop post.

    For example:

"Lead: good but tone is too muddy/overdriven, rhythm: good but a bit imprecise at the end, bass: great"

As you can see you give info on what and where needs work but you can go into waaay more detail at the post of that CDLC on the DB.

ALSO, i just added the "CHARTER" column, that way we can give credit to whoever charted the CDLC ;).

    THANK YOU :).

  8. IF anyone can point me to a post here or "there" that teaches how to open a CDLC and tweak it as if it was me who started it from scratch i would be very grateful, taking into account its a someone painless process then fine, if there is no such a thing then im happy posting the "essential" files from any CDLC in my workshop, i think doing this as a open source activity is awesome, specially as someone that used to run Linux for years (i miss it :( )

Altho now that i think about it, some charters might get upset if we upload a "tweaked" or "corrected" version of their work, so for those of us interesting in making this an open source project we should SPECIFY in the comments section of the uploads that we are ok with other people doing that but please if you do, dont forget to credit everyone involved (in the charting process i mean) by the time you got your hands, and NOW that i think about that there should also be some kind of id thing to identify a CDLC chart/modifying process.

    Lets say:

    1) Rush charts Song X.

        a) he adds lead, bass, lyrics and tone.

So far the comments section of SUCH DB entry should state something like: "Song X_1_xxx", whereas 1 no longer states the version but the uploader and .xxx means the version, so if its Rush´s only version of such file it should be Song X_1_1 or something like this.

    2) I add Rhythm, so the comments section state: Song X_2_1, and i specify the Original uploader was Rush and that the change i did was adding rhythm.

    3) Deratio says: "ooooh HELL NAAAW DAWG, that bass line can be better" works his magic on it and specifies in the comment section of his DB uploads: "Song_X_3_1" mentioning Rush, then CrazyEddie and stating he changed the bass line.

This is just an idea and i KNOW its overcomplicating thigs but if we are going through the open source road you know something like this will be needed to avoid confusion.

    Hope it helps.

  9. I say we post youtube links to them:

For me its a tie with:

    Radiohead´s "The Bends"

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7EzQvnA4DQ

    Pixies "Doolittle"/"surfer Rosa"

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3r-xMt9JmM&list=PLBAAF05FA32D4D2F6

    Cerati´s Fuerza Natural

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwiksP5lqOM

    Electric Six "Fire"

    Sonic Youth "Rather Ripped"

I can listen to those all day long everyday for a loooong time, hell i HAVE listened to them for a long time over and over hehe.

Dammit, its 2 am and now i want to listen to them! aaaaaagh!

  10. Im of the idea that if its not at least a full arrangement+tone+lyrics 100% it should stay at the "Workshop" area which i treat as a WIP zone, anything goes there but when hitting the submitted form and uploading to the customs DB then it should at least, as ive said, have 1 fully tested arrangement, can be rythm, lead or bass either way as long as its one fully tested (at least by the charter and a friend, doesnt has to be a official test something like "hey man, what do you think?" "its good, the tone was ok and the tabs were ok too")+ 1 ok tone (as long as its not horrible, as a sense of the effects used in the song, even if its not the spot on settings of the distortion/flanger/delay/etc, at least something resembling)+ lyrics.

I wish your idea comes true but it will take a lot of work, effort and dedication and i can already tell it will make some people feel like this is a job and for some it seems that charting already has that effect so, i would suggest to have a set of friends who are willing to give you some minutes of their time a couple of days a week (if you are a constant charter) and asking them in chat, shouldnt take a lot this way it also promotes some charters being more social which in communities like this is always good.

    Good luck.

  11. Seeing this website develop and rise from the ashes of Smithy has just really inspired me to tell you all how great you are. We got this ball rolling so fast and I am just so unbelievably grateful for everyone that was a part of that.

Not a few hours had passed since "The Event" and we were all dancing naked around the fire in here 8-), the fact that most of us was already naked at the time of "The Event" mightve helped... but still ;).

  12. CURRENT WIP progress report:

    Artist: Ely Guerra

    Song: Mi Playa

    http://www.mediafire.com/?v7khksqax8pk3

Arrangements: Rhythm and lyrics only (for now, maybe in the future ill be masochistic enough to tab the bass by ear myself since there are ABSOLUTELY no traces of any bass tabs of this particular song all throughout the internet)

Rhythm: "skeleton" of the chords is done with a few mistakes at the end (a few chords got deleted or i dunno, they are supposed to be 030550 or something like this if memory serves me right), ill take a break and work on it later today.

    Lyrics:    DONE

Tone:     AWESOME, couldnt ask for more

    ID:          Cherub

The end of the song has less guitar and more piano, still youll be playing as guitar hopefully it sounds ok.

  13. Hey, great work so far guys, im digging these changes very much, cept for one, up until today i used to browse the forums in the usual way i browse, well... anything else, now i cant and its one of those things that slowly drive me insane, you see, im a tab guy, and by that i mean, a browser tab guy, when im browsing through any section of the forum i like to hit CTRL+LMB to open a tab of a topic im interested, and it used to be like that i dunno if this was meant to happen but now i do the same and not only do i get the new tab in my browser but my original tab also changes to the location my new tab is in, if this is an issue im more than glad to wait whatever it is necessary for it to get fixed i do get you guys are doing a ton and believe me its turning out great but... and the puorpose of this being a topic in suggestion, JUST IN CASE this was deliberate, please, oh please, change it back, thank you.
