There is a Tuxguitar version that can converter gpx to gp5, i think in one of the tutorials about how to create a custom does have a link to it. Guitar Pro have an option to convert .gpx to .gp5 or .gp3 from v.6.1.5 or later. In this way the convertion doesn't lose anything of the original. Online converters are very good too, but sometimes have problems on tempo, time of note, key and techniques. Tuxguitar have an add-on to convert, but you need to download it. Regards!
