  1. Meh, not a 90 on lead, but good improvement I suppose. And yeah so sick of this song I'm not going to bring up the rhythm any better than before.  Guess I'm getting crisper on the chord changes at least. Oh and I have now been play guitar for 6 months! Rock on! And bass for 3 months.  Years more practice to go, love to look back at this at the end of a full year and see a change.

  2. Hooray for progress. Now to push lead to 90 and rhythm out the window and never speak of it again.  I don't even like spelling it.  Most of my improvements in it are due to the lead part having the same chords. Alright ending my whining section about rithem. Yes I misspelled it intentionally.  No that spelling isn't any better.

  3. Bass day today!  Got to work on the stickerbush one a lot more.  Pinky keeps locking up right at the beginning.  But hooray for already getting the Love stinks one figured out.

Thanks for keeping this going all!  Good way to keep me focused on one song a week. (Well per part I suppose).  What's the average time for moving up past beginner, or does it vary a lot.  And No I don't want to move up yet!

  4. Might be the grip thing, not sure, can't really feel my grip in a couple fingers of my left hand.  Works fine on my guitar and seems to sound fine on the bass, not going sharp flat or buzzing.

*shrug*  More practice maybe just need continuing work on building strength in that hand overall.

Got some good bass practice in today.  Anyone else have a problem with the extra vibration from the bass riding up your frethand arm?

No, not really.  Could you be holding on too tight/fretting too hard?

I say "not really", because I have noticed some basses vibrate more than others, but this is more a whole body vibration, rather than just arm, lol.

Can I post this again now?

  5. Got some good bass practice in today.  Anyone else have a problem with the extra vibration from the bass riding up your frethand arm?  I feel a sympathetic vibration in my elbow for quite a bit after I finish playing . . . might just be a problem from practicing to long in a continuous run or the weight difference. *shrug*

Now to practice the lead parts after a wee break.

  6. Well I've been to the symphony several times, whichever ones happened to be visiting at the Indiana Repertoire Theater when I was a kid.  Went to see phantom of the opera.  And I've seen Fritz's Polka Band.  Got to see Woodstock 96/99 live on pay per view, it was 15 minutes from where I worked at the time in Upstate New York. So not much real rock and roll here.

  7. I haven't even been playing a year yet, but I bought a few cheap pedals because I thought they'd be fun and my clean tone was a bit boring.  So for about a $75 I got 3 new pedals. A behringer compressor/sustainer, vintage tube overdrive and a vintage delay.  Feels much better to listen to while practicing.  They're not metal constructed and may not hold up to gigging, but they work great for me and seem like a good starting point.

  8. Alright 12 things, er 2 . . 2 things.

    1) Ow

    2) Why is F to C such a pain in my arse.

Continuing to work on this one, couple more days in the week right.

Also starting to practice my sight reading again with the real book.  Can't figure out notes nearly as fast on the guitar as I can sight read on a trumpet, so I can't figure out the notes and play them in tempo which is frustrating a bit, but great fun figuring it out and as I figure out the patterns on my hands I can start to figure out the cadence.

  9. Cool songs this week, Let's see how much practice I can cram into the next 36ish hours on them.  Was playing with new pedals the last couple days so I wasn't very productive.

Beginner Lead didn't feel to bad to start out, I think I can 90 this one before the end of the week.

Beginner Rhythm, bunch of chords I've never played before and it's not really telling me which fingerings to use for them so I'm trying different thing based on what I know.  Fun learning process at least.

    Beginner Bass, . . . . . . wait a minute you can make power chords on a bass?!

  10. Sorry guys really wasn't in the mood in the slightest this week with all the stuff going on in real life and world wide, so probably not my best performance and don't fill like drilling them any further at this point.

My thoughts go out to all the families involved in the recent tragedies.

Petty will be missed greatly, quite a bit of my music collection right there, thanks for the music.

Next week I'll be in a better mood.

  11. Just curious if there is actually any rhyme or reason to how Rocksmith considers something difficult or easy. I'm not talking about how it rates CDLC because I wouldn't expect it to get that right.  But RS 1 titles seem to be out of place in the queue.  Regular DLC doesn't seem quite right either, why would it rate I Want You back as the least difficult song?  I'm not sure if the regular songs fall into any realistic order either.  So far my best way of figuring out which songs are actually easiest for me is to sight read each one and then work on the ones I ended up with the highest mastery on.  I'm sure there's a ton of threads about which songs are the easiest ones to play and that's not what I'm wondering about, I'm wondering if there's some identifier put into the song to tell rocksmith the difficulty level or if it just guesses based on the notes and techniques placed in the song.  So does an easy hammer on for Next Girl automatically bump up the difficulty level several notches above the top song in the list.

Feel free to ignore me on this one, just a bit confused and felt cathartic to put it in text.

  12. I've noticed I can hear my guitars much better when I swap my output from the computer soundcard to my little beringer thing (U-phoria UMC22), don't actually need the splitter from some reason.  I just go straight from the output/monitor jack into the amp instrument input. Works for me at least.  Bought the Beringer originally so I could record and play back my guitar with better quality, but the output is quite good as well.
