Rockband figured out how to do it, though (multiplayer).

Not really the same, Rock Band fires off MIDI samples. Rocksmith uses real time audio interpretation

Theres a PC application out there called Ejamming that lets you Jam/Record with others in real time without any delay so I don't see why Multiplayer can't be done. Theres a free trial, give it a try. :P

If you watch this video, you'll see that ejamming really isn't as "real time" as you're thinking. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKyDzSaS4h0#t=27

  2. Yeah, right now I'm just using tabs from other sources and editing them to fix obvious mistakes, I can't imagine how it's going to turn out if I started making my own tabs from scratch.

I have to say, a lot of my frustrations were probably from being too tired and not thinking straight, when I figured out what I was doing wrong I had to laugh at how stupid I was.

But yeah, I finally got around to fixing it, testing it again, and it finally works now. I'll probably get around to uploading it later, just because. I doubt there will be much demand for it, even less since it's in B standard, but it's my first custom song, and the community is about custom songs, so I might as well.

I play tons of low tuned bass, which is why I made the low tuning fix! Thanks for your custom.

  3. The latest version of the Toolkit won't open on Mac.  Just bounces in the dock for about 10 minutes until it pops up and asks for the admin password to take control of another process for debugging.

Previous version works just fine.  Doesn't matter much to me (since all I do is convert files with it), but I thought I would let you know.

This doesn't surprise me too much, from what I remember the Toolkit has been basically unsupported for Mac through a certain version (correct me if I am wrong).

  4. ive got quite a few classic songs on request that i thought others would like and presumed they would have been made quite quickly, is there a way to get them noticed more? i would also like a lot more of killswitch engage stuff and plenty more five finger death punch especially cold, remember everything, house of the rising sun and dot your eyes. if anybody can do a few cdlc for me or point me in the right direction of someone who would it would be greatly appreciated thanks! \m/(>.<)\m/

I'll be doing some Killswitch Engage stuff from Alive or Just Breathing soon :)

But yes, this is the best way (learn how to do it yourself and do it).

Here's the thing, there's a TON of requests, and not as many charters. Paying someone to do it is against the rules (would get eyes from Ubisoft pretty fast :) ) and for the time it takes its probably expensive.

  5.

So this fix does add the +12 to the tuning set in EOF and does also change the frequency to 220 right?

Basically we can leave now when having a B standard tuning in EOF the strings to -5, this fix will than add the +12 and set in the toolkit the frequency to 220 Hz right?

Yes, that's exactly what it does. If the song already is at 220 hz for the bass track, it will abort (and leave the tunings where they are).

However, whenever generating a package normally (aka creating a CDLC for the first time), the code changes I did have no effect on that. (but you could easily run that generated package through this tool.) In the future, when I have more time, I may add code that asks the user, when they have a bass tuning below C1, if they want to apply the fix before they generate the package.

  6. Sick of manually fixing low bass tuning recognition? Use this tool!

See the low tuning problem explained here : http://customsforge.com/topic/5227-5-strings-bass-and-low-note-recognition/

Great tool for metal songs, as many need this fix (anything below C1 tuning).

    Instructions

    1. Download the latest test version of RS Toolkit
    2.  Go to the DLC packer/unpacker tab.
    3.  Select your options (all are optional).
      • Quick Fix - Saves the working directory and fixed package in the same directory as the source package. The fixed package will be named the same as the source package, appended with "_bassfix".
      • Delete Source File - deletes the source package. Useful for using the tool inside of your Rocksmith DLC directory.
    4. Select the unfixed, source package. If quick fix was not selected, choose the directory to save the working/package guts directory, and also choose where to save/name the fixed file.
    5. Enjoy your working bass tuning!

    Known bugs:

    • Button doesn't enable after getting "Package already has bass fix (220hz)"
    • PS3 package may fail to generate.

    Thanks to:
Customsforge, RS Toolkit devs, charters, and Alex360.

  7. Even for someone who programs and understands the need to release concise, stable patches for software, I don't mind.  As a pretty amateur musician I think it would be hard to continuously release CDLC that had little flaws, and even if you fix one (just like software), its very easy to cause a new problem by fixing an old one.

  8. So I started to working on converting RS2014 to MusicXml since at the moment this seems to be most doable.  I will have to wait to figure out how to tap into the RS note highway for later.  I am currently able to dump CDLC song data to XML.  I have MusicXml XSD and XML schema working.

I need help from someone who understands XSLT.  How do I go from CLDC song schema to MusicXml schema?  Through XLST right?  Is there an easy way to generate the XLST to go from one XML schema to another XML schema,  or do I have to do it line by line?  Would I be better using datasets than XSLT?

You're right. XSLT is meant for transforming XML documents into other XML documents. Not sure what you mean with  "line by line". There's no 'easy' way I think to generate an XLST either. But there seem to be a few tools to help develop, like this one. http://sourceforge.net/projects/treebeard/

  9. Ok, I got around to this finally today.Rocksmith connects right up to my redpipes via my 1/4 inch port/connector easily. I set myself up on the Rhythm path and went into Tools (where you can see the tuner). From default settings on a redpipe, using the default Great Highland Bagpipe sound (at 446 hz), and the GHB Standard Fingering, Rocksmith was able read my notes, albeit slightly one note higher (low G became a low A, C became a D). However, the redpipes allow me to change my key, so by ticking that downwards a few times I was able to get it to read legitly. You can take a look at the redpipes manual here : http://redpipes.eu/vorlagen/Bedinungsanleitung/Bed_e_11_12_a6.pdfOn page 16 (of the pdf, page 14 of the booklet) you can see the fingering table along with the notes for the scottish mixolydian and what is actually heard.I actually have a transcription of the beginning of this song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lS7_tcwsj4EI'm going to take a stab at making it and adapting it to rocksmith so I can practice (its a pretty fast tune for me, I've only been taking lessons for 6 months).Anyone have any suggestions for setting up the tuning? 12 frets on a guitar/bass are equal to an octave higher, right?

If you have any kind of partition (even a scan) and information of the tuning or at least the notes that you can play so that you can pass the tuning part. I might be able to do something out of it.

When I get some time, I'll try and get this for ya. I've actually been messing around with doing the some of the lead riffs (or maybe its synth?) on Only for the Weak with my bagpipes. Always pictured them sorta fitting in... maybe this can be our first experiment?Hardest part will be figuring out how to map the possible nine notes in a highland bagpipe to the playing interface of rocksmith.

Apparently bagpipes aren't tuned according to 440 but a slightly higher pitch?

Never though I'd be learning stuff about bagpipes and violins and whatnot through Rocksmith :P

    |I'm not sure what 440 even means! Great Highland Bagpipe music is usually written in a key of D Major, i believe. From wiki : " Highland bagpipe music is written in the key of D major, where the C and F are sharp (despite the key-signature usually being omitted from scores). Due to the lack of chromatic notes, to change key is also to change modes; tunes are in A Mixolydian, D Major, B Minor, or occasionally E Mode."

Redpipe supports alot of sounds , though : http://redpipes.eu/Seiten_engl/technologie/tech2_0.html

What I meant is that from what I've read the frequencies of the notes you produce with a bagpipe do not directly correspond to any frets on a bass or guitar tuned according to A440.

With the redpipes, I can adjust pitch too.
