  1. Hey. I'm wondering what to do for 5-string/6-string bass charts. Nobody got back to me on that. I already have a few complete and will be doing a lot more probably.

Is it possible to add a feature to the database for that, if that is too much to ask how do you think I should make it clear it is for a 5-string?

I was thinking maybe in parenthesis after the artist.  i.e.  Haken (5-String). Since the artist is the first thing one should see in the database.

This has been discussed internally but we haven't made a final decision yet. I'd recommend using a new tuning option for that, like "E Standard (5-string)". But I wouldn't change the artist name for that. Would a new tuning option work for you?

  2. Wow, that's a lot of people having problems with Tinnitus. Suffering myself, I can't stress this enough: watch your volumes! Especially with in-ear buds and headphones. Yeah, it's cool if the other people on the sub can hear how hardcore you are listening to Skrillex early in the morning, but sooner or later it'll come back to you and it's gonna suck big time.

  3. Hi,

while I absolutely understand your use-case I'd rather avoid adding a "Followed" column for technical reasons. Displaying this column would mean that with every call to the search site we'd have to compare the current user's follows with the CDLC in the DB, regardless if you follow any songs or even display the column. That's the reason we introduced the "Followed" view; this way the data is compared only in specific cases (i.e. when the user wants to see all follows). So, in order to keep search fast and responsive, I'd like to avoid comparing a lot of data on every call for a use-case that doesn't come up very often (there's only a handful of duplicate CDLC by different charters).

One way to quickly check if you're following a CDLC is to open the record page and have a quick look at the "Follow" button. If it says "Unfollow", you're already following that song. Another way would be to open the "Followed" view in a different browser tab. If the CDLC in question is on top of that list, you're already following it.

What do you (and others, of course) think? Can we live with this compromise?

  4. I donated because I could read a list of donations and expenses. I can't find this document anymore, if you want donations, we want transparency to agree. It would be fine to include a column "version" (0.1, 1.0,2.0) in the cdlc search and in the file names

Version numbers are available on the search site using your Search Settings. Just click the appropriate checkbox to show/hide columns.

  6. I'm surprised nobody mentioned Guitar Rig yet. It's a great amp modelling software with it's own dedicated hardware controller (optional) that doubles as an ASIO sound card. I've been using it for years and even recorded stuff with the software. I think it sounds awesome and it's really easy to set up and use. Before Rocksmith I used this to play along to stuff.

    This is the hardware controller:

  7. Hi,

we're working on a new version of the search function that will feature search settings for each user. You will be able to choose whether you want to

    1) hide DD songs,

    2) show only DD songs or

    3) show both.

The new version will be online in the next few days.

For now you can use multiple-column sorting: click twice on the "DD" column header (so DD is sorted descending) and then shift-click twice on the "updated" column header (so within DD sort by updated descending).

I hope this helps for now.

  8. Unfortunately this would be a very resource-intensive thing to do. At the moment the search DB is ordered by the "last update" date which is set automatically when a CDLC is edited. Checking the version numbers for displaying entries in bold would mean you'd have to have a cookie that listed the version numbers you were shown the last time you were here, which is just not feasible. I'll try and find a better way to do this, but I can't promise anything.

BTW, nice to see a fellow Viennese on here! Seawas!
