  1. Hi, Guys

After seeing the quality of everyone else's Customs I decided to rework The Steve Miller Band - Jet Airliner V4.0 L, R, B and V. If any one wants to give it a try. Now the tuning has changed to 1/2 step up to F Tuning - F-A♯-D♯-G♯-C-F - and capo on 2nd fret. It sounds a lot better but still kind of difficult to play. I also completely re-charted the Lead and Rhythm path's. I am about half way through ZZ Top's - Just Got Paid and Hearts's - Magic Man.

    Later, Terry

Why not just standard tuning and capo on the first fret? Or is there some Vodoo magic happening that drastically alters the sound when tuning up?

Seems inconvenient, to say the least.

  2. So how's the making goin? hope a few cdlcs are still coming. Dreams are made of playing the beautiful jam by urself like:)

I still have plans for a few multitrack customs but no fixed release schedule. I do them when I feel like it and find the time.

  3. Also, don't waste any money on note recognition software. It's not worth it. I haven't found a single one that works as expected and it's almost always quicker and easier to do it by hand.

@@chroma @@JamesPrestonUK I partly have to take back what I said here after I got a chance to test PhotoScore 8. It still makes mistakes but the level of recognition is astonishing and it works relatively fast. It can even recognize tabs and reproduce them accurately. If there are any errors it tells you where they are and if you're familiar with Sibelius then you can fix them easily, because the reproduced file can be edited like a Sibelius score. Output the file as music xml and you can get it into GP without any changes to the tab. Pretty awesome.

For the time being I can definitely recommend PhotoScore 8. At least try the demo with some of your scores and you might be amazed.

  4. "Crazy For You" by Madge and "Graceland" by Paul Simon added. I've thrown so many tunes away this weekend because the GP/PowerTab files were written by people without the first clue about music. There's someone's files on Ultimate-Guitar which I now realise aren't worth bothering with. Why publish something which is so obviously wrong....?

The million dollar question: Why people do things they're not good at. Trying to become better at it? ;)

The real bother are people who don't realize their limitations.

There's no real way to pan tones in RS, so that's why the Toolkit doesn't support it. The only way to get stereo imaging is by using a stereo rack effect like the Stereo Chorus. I use that a lot for spreading tones left and right to get it away from centre position and make it integrate more with the track, especially when the instrument is panned to the side.

The tone designer has a balance slider, so...?

Is there any way to pan hard left with the stereo chorus?

    Question 1: What @@firekorn said.

Question 2: No, sadly. It is spread equally across both sides. But it sounds a lot better than without, imo, but just play around with it to see for yourself. Of course you gotta be careful with the actual chorus effect. Don't give it too much wet signal.

  6. Currently working on:

    Billy Joel - Uptown Girl

Blur - There's No Other Way

Aretha Franklin - Chain of Fools

I have a band score for "Uptown Girl" if you need it.

And yeah, "Chain Of Fools" is awesome as well. Also, not on my list, so I don't have to replace it. :D

Was this the tab you found: http://freebasspart.pv24.pagesperso-orange.fr/Fichiers/Aretha%20Franklin/Lady%20Soul/Chain%20Of%20Fools.pdf

If not, then take a look at that. The guy that transcribed these is usually pretty accurate.

Did you already see my new Isley Brothers pack btw?

  7. I agree with you, albatross. Managing to go to good concerts isn't easy anywhere and Vienna actually isn't the worst place to find class acts perform in great locations but you have to be willing to get into the whole experience. Dream Theater is coming to Vienna from time to time and I was actually thinking to go to one of their concerts but prices have been a bit to steep for me back then but I might go once they come around again. :)

  8. Well, tbh, I am not a big fan of live concerts. It's loud, it's crowded and the prices are high. I'd rather listen to music in a controlled environment. Maybe that's because I'm not a very social person or just because of my analytical mind which needs sterile conditions to work at peak performance. On the other hand I have to say that the Uriah Heep concert was a crazy and totally new experience but then again, the crowd was rather small because of the location, so the price was acceptable and I also got used to the volume because it allowed me to stand damn close to legendary and fantastic musicians. The set was great as well and they played extensively. If any of that had been less ideal though, the experience would have been far from enjoyable for me, so it really depends on a lot of factors if I'll go to another concert.

  9. Scorpions and Uriah Heep are usually classified as hard rock and I personally don't think of them as progressive but their still great bands in their own right. Uriah Heep is the only band I ever saw live, that's actually how much I love them.

Can't disagree with the rest of your list; all class acts and the epitome of classic progressive rock.

  10. If you click on the tabs in Tab Pro you can actually see who tabbed them and get to their profile on UG. If that's not a dead give away, I don't know. :D

Btw, don't subscribe to mysongbook.com either. You can't get GP tabs to work with from there because they won't let you edit or export them. You can only print them to PDF. The tabs are good though, so sometimes buying a single tab and putting in the manual work to make a useable version might be worth it.

  11. Well, I'm sorry to tell you that buying a subscription to Tab Pro was a mistake not only because you get a free lifetime subscription once you upload a single tab to UG but also because they almost exclusively use GP tabs that are uploaded by users to UG and are available for free anyway, just presenting them in a different manner and allowing you to play them online. I guess the reason you can't download them is simply because you can download them on UG anyway.

Also, don't waste any money on note recognition software. It's not worth it. I haven't found a single one that works as expected and it's almost always quicker and easier to do it by hand.

  12. With RB4 coming out soon I can see how it might be problematic to drop support for that kind of notation right now. I definitely would appreciate the change for RS status marking though and so would a lot of others, I guess. It would come in handy at times but I admittedly won't need it often. If you find a solution, that's great; if not, that's fine as well.

  13. Well, another one of my customs is up and my fucking gpu decided to die on me and that just after a year of service. Not sure how long I'll have to wait for a replacement or repair but I doubt this is gonna be done before this week's challenge is over. Well anyway, enjoy guys and let me know if I need to fix something.
