Are all Rocksmith 2014 PC "versions" the same?

I searched FAQ's and the forums. i haven't found an answer to this. I have the older non 2014 version of RS. Will I be able to play CDLC's or do I have to buy the 2014 version? thanks and sorry for being a complete nub. I actually found this forum by accident and didn't know that CDLC's existed until today for RS.
