  1. Ok, first goes.....except for INT, I don't appear to have the screen for that one for some reason.

With Supergroove last week and now Krakatit I've had to keep switching popping finger so I have 3 tender digits!   I predict epic callouses by the end of the week! :P

I gave ADV and MC second goes before spending the rest of the day with family and I did worse lol! :D

  2. Ok, I've been and tried them (adv & mc), not uploaded screens yet as I'm still playing - just wanted to quickly get my first impressions down.....

Krakatit is waaayyyy harder than last week's MC.  Compared to last week's Supergroove it's more like a MC track, it's making me think Supergroove was really a 6....because once you got the patterns down it repeated throughout; there's more variation with Krakatit.

I scored higher with my first play of Sorairo Days too.  I don't know though, I think Krakatit might be more masterable (is that a word? :P ) with lots of plays - I'll probably live to regret saying that!  Sorairo I feel is more about having the speed, which isn't necessarily something you can improve a lot on over the course of one week.  If you've already got it it's going to be easy to do well.  I don't know, I'd be happy to attempt either, it's nice to get some challenging songs.  We tend to get a lot of songs rated below our class in bass so it's nice to feel pushed to improve. :)

Of course, if you do end up with Krakatit in MC @@missis sumner, you'll have to switch to emulated - that's the way winners do it ;) :P

  3. I'm going to try the Krakatit again today.  I'm sure the Krakatit is easier than the Sorairo Days - it's just that when I try to play slap bass on a sight reading, my whole brain freezes.  I have to have some idea of where the song is going before I can devote some of my attention away from the sight read and onto what my right hand is doing, if that makes any sense to anyone.

I've not tried any of this week's tracks yet (I gather Krakatit is slapped?), but that makes absolute sense to me! :)

  4. I swear I never want to hear this song again!  There's nothing makes me want to CHUCK my bass more than a super simple bass line that I keep effing up randomly by one note!

And here's the culmination of my week's efforts at slapping.  Had so much fun with this one, thanks Fripp! :)

I recorded myself, screen only, but you can clearly hear (attempts at) slaps, mutes and pops.  It's more slop than slap, but it was played, as @@missis sumner says, in the spirit of things at least. ;)

I'll post it tomorrow for posterity (and laughs!) if I don't manage to improve on it.

  5. Imgur's misbehaving again.

    Johnny Hallyday - 100%   1,715,749

    Metric - 100%  1,443,151

    Chuck Berry - 99.75%  Streak: 332

I agree the Chuck Berry version is WAYYY easier than the Marty McFly version.

I also gave MC a go since I've been trying to learn to play slap lately......an attempt was made, let's just leave it at that!    I'll probably work on it this week though since ADV is really INT ;)  :P

  6. Superbus!!! OMG I loved that on Guitar Hero 3!  But holy moley! :o  String skipping?  More like string trippin'!

    That's a bit better....

But comparing my Superbus and Pantera sight reads, to me these could maybe be swapped classes?

Even if they're not swapped, the Pantera song really isn't my cup of tea, so think I'll work on trying to perfect Superbus this week.

I thought this sounded really cool, but what I saw of it from a brief sign up was enough to get my Spidey-senses tingling.  <_<

    - No contact method for support despite offering a paid for "pro tier".

    - No privacy policy.

    - No terms of service.

    - Auto-filled my location on my profile without even asking me for it (assuming by IP detection) or asking if I wanted that displayed to the world.

    - The site appears to be getting a reputation for botting for sign ups.

    - Offering a paid for "pro tier" using Youtube at the core of their business (I'll be amazed if that isn't that against Youtube ToS, but I'm happy to be corrected).

    - General bugginess on the site which seems trivial compared to the other issues.

Calm down, it's just a tool to have fun, record some tracks and yes, has problems, is not completely done.

You need to know: All sites get your IP, all record your location and the only thing that is displayed in the profile is your city, but you can hide or change it if you want on your profile/privacy configuration.
Here for example, record IP from everyone that do a post in each thread and it is not configurable.
Here is your last IP:xxxxxxxxxxxx. What is your concern?

The site is integrated with youtube, all they publications are made on youtube, your profile is created from youtube.

About the privacy policy, the site is really not perfect and has a lot to improve, but it is an interesting tool for those who like to play, to cover songs.

About the support, there is a link to talk with them, yes, I contacted the support recently to get some questions and they answered me.

I'm fully aware most sites collect user IP addresses, including CustomsForge (which says so in its privacy policy).  My main concerns were about the lack of legally required documents and the handling of user data, not the collection of.  So your public posting of my IP address, which is only visible here to staff members by the way, proves what now?   <_<  That's rhetorical - just delete it, thanks!   :kissing_heart:

Without even getting into a debate about privacy and data protection, it's SO sloppy to use IP geolocating when so many people use proxies and VPNs that would give false results anyway!   Why the hell not just ASK users?

I'm glad you're enjoying Bandcamp, but I'll stick to being more discerning (or trying to be!) in what I share and who with thanks.  ;)   Maybe if they address their issues and make the site a bit more complete I'll give it another look.

While I was signed up I could not find that support link for the life of me.  Maybe you could forward the suggestion that they make themselves more accessible. ;)  I do know there definitely isn't any contact info when you're not logged in.  If there's a way to contact them in your account that's at least something.

  8. Blimey @@papillon!  How many cdlc do you have to still be enumerating at the end of a song?! :O :D

    Congrats @@guijappe, that's great news!  :beers:  :confetti_ball:

And congrats @missis-sumner!  Like Rodman I'm sorry to see you leave Advanced (honestly! :P :D )....but at the same time you've proved you've got the nuts for MC (get it, coz...nuts...on a bass...that you replaced...I'll see myself out!)

No improvement from me yet.  I did riff repeat Aria and got a score I was pretty happy with...then realised I'd only gone and practiced the wrong blooming song!    I don't think my wrist can take any more riff repeating.

  9.

Steam has added for different people a temporary ban for uploading screenshots of customs - the days accumulate depending on the number of posted screenshots. Some have deleted all their uploads - I've not heard that they've closed an account, but I would not test it out.

That sounds disturbing for a lot of folks here.

  10. There are a couple of awkward little bits to this song, but I really like it.  It took a fair effort to beat @@Fraggle Baggle's score, I was stuck on 98% for a while, but then it all fell into place.   :D

:o Curses!  *mutters under breath*...something about it's about time @missis-sumner got promoted! *cough cough* :P :D

  11. Lol sore fingers here too!   :D  Since I'm making zero progress on Dani California (a song I already play every day so I've plateaued) I've started attempting some of the slappier RHCP songs (very, very badly!).  All the popping though....I've worn through three fingers! :o

@@Berneer  Welcome to the phat end!  Glad you see why we love it so much, emulated just doesn't compare does it? :)

  12. I'm not a member of bandhub and can't say if it's scam to collect your data or if these are some amateurish settings which don't respect your privacy, but FB does the same and people give them their data for free :D

Very true.  People do give away a lot of personal info for free all over the place.  Facebook does at least have all of the missing elements I mentioned and as leechy as it may be, it's at least legit.  That said I still don't use it :D

It may be an amateurish oversight on Bandhub's part or something else, who knows, but if you collect personally identifiable information you are required by law to include a privacy policy (which includes contact details) on your site.
