  1. @@TheHusky Google is your friend for that really, there's tones of video on youtube and some specific site that tend to gather a lot of information but the more various sources you can find the better.

Note that many of those video tends to be made by some of the gear brand themself to showcase what they have in place with a given artist or by journalist from some guitar/gear magazine and the artist is rarely there but the tech that manage all the gear is.

What is a correct term to google here? I used "song name" pedals, "song name" gear, "song name" tone.

  2. Trial and error.

One thing is to use something that will offer a base (finding a similar kind of tone in oDLC of CDLC is a great start).

Then it's a matter of tweaking one thing at a time and seeing how it actually works with the CDLC itself.

Also one good thing to look at is actual rig rundown of the gear from the artist. It can offer you some insight in what is actually in the signal chain and in what order which can help a lot to get a good start.

Is there a website where i would be able to see what gear they used for the song? As far as I know, its not pretty often they say what they used.

  3. Heya all!

So i've been into making CDLC for RS14 for quite some time now and I made a few of them by now. But what all of them had in common is the lack of their own tone. I cant seem to be able to find or make a correct custom tone to go with the CDLC that im making, so my songs are usually just sitting in my project folder as im stuck with giving them the correct tone for the song.

Sure there is a Tone Request forum section but that hasn't been used in a while with any replies that tell you what tone you're supposed to use.

Is there a way most of you amazing CDLC creators use to create the custom tone for the song? Do you somehow find the gear used by the guitarist at the time of the recording? Does it just come down to "have an ear for it"? Because currently I can not tell Overdrive from Distortion etc.

Any educational answers would be highly appreciative. <3

  4. When you have one and only tone in the whole song, you don't need to put tone change because the tone will never change. The unique tone will then be define inside the toolkit and only in the toolkit.

I bet your fake tone doesn't have a cab or an amp which will broke the tone simulation.

The tone I assigned at the end? It has only amp. I also tried without assigning tones and just adding the tone under "Tones" section. But then you cant bind it to the arrangement?

  5. Okay so let me explain in detail about exactly what my situation is:

I am in EoF, i have my chart all done. I want to use one tone only in my entire song. (i have taken one from the ace of spades). I go to 00:01 in the song and put a Tone Change there and i name it "X". Now since EoF requires at least two tones for that, i go to the end of the song and add a Tone Change named "Y". Now i will set "X" tone as default one. Save the project, and lets go to toolkit.

I go add a bass arrangement. It comes out as "Bass [E Standard] (X,Y). Perfect. Everything seems fine. I fill out the rest of the slots and we're now at Tone part of the Toolkit. I click edit on "X". I select "Load Tone" and i import the Ace of Spades one. The Tone information get changed to the one from the tone so  change it back to "X" because it has to be named the same as in EoF. I edit "Y" and i put just a random amp to it. Doesnt matter since i put it there just to get around EoF's system.

I click generate. Tells me its Arrangement has been changed, i click yes.

I copy over the CDLC, start the song up... Nothing. I see the speakers change to the same ones, no pop-up message saying "BASS" tone is in effect, effect is still default.

Anyone knows what im doing wrong?

EDIT: "X" and "Y" are just placeholders for easier reference in the text of wall. I actually have them properly named.

  6. Im working on The BossHoss - Dos Bros, bass version. Since its not actually a bass its a baritone i think you need to go an octave higher from bass ? And then put the pedal effect to it. Which brings me to why im posting this. I need a custom tone for my CDLC. I have no bloody idea how to make one. I included my best  tone (but super bad) attempt at re-creating the baritone effect. If anyone could help me get the right tone for this, id be grateful. Ofc you'd get a special mention!

  7. Its a terrible news to wake up to. I loved David Bowie, had tons of really amazing tracks. He is gone but not forgotten. Make sure to go play some of his CDLC and buy any piece of Official DLC they have of him. Its worth it.

  8. I finished one of my CDLC and after exporting it to Rocksmith, the track is really quiet. Now i know if you mouse over the volume area of the toolkit it explains that 0, -1, -2, -3 ... Is higher. That being said, which one of the values will give me the highest volume to the soundtrack?

Sorry for a newbie question, I'll learn some day!

  9. You can use CTRL+Space to play at half speed, CTRL+SHIFT+Space to play at quarter speed, or you can even go into "Edit>Playback rate" to specify your own speed. By default, playing at less than full speed uses the time stretch feature to slow the song while preventing the pitch from changing. Depending on your computer this could cause lots of lag during playback, as a workaround you could try to increase the audio buffer size in File>Settings (increments of 1024 are worth a try) or you can disable the time stretch feature by unchecking "Edit>Playback rate>Time stretch".

I'm really glad i asked this. This should do my messy tab work easier to sync. Tyvm :3

  10. Apart from amplifying the audio, you can zoom in the chart in EOF by pressing + on the number pad and this will widen the graph. You can also go into the menu and change some other waveform display options if you like.

What!? Thats exactly what i needed! Thank you very much. Should be a bit easier to sync now.

EDIT: On a similair note. Is there any way to slow down the track a bit?

  11. I know i got a lot of unfinished projects (which is very bad). Which is why Im doing another one on the side xD

Im tabbing Bartek's version of a True Survivor by David Hassellhoff. I'll see how far i get but no promises. Gotta work on previous stuff at some point as well. Just need to get good at syncing and then  the projects are gonna fly :3

  12.

I'm trying to sync up a song that has 0 timestamps and notes are always close together, now i need to sync every note by itself.

Why do you think you need to sync every note by itself? Almost every section of every song that I've worked on (one, maybe two exceptions? Beyond things that were just tabbed out wrong) could be handled via beat-syncing and keeping the notes grid snapped. For many songs you'll probably be OK just syncing the first beat of every measure or even every other measure.

Anyway, If the waveform graph of the song is really small, it might make sense to boost the volume of the track a few dB. This can be done in Audacity by importing the track, then going to Effect -> Amplify and amplifying by a little bit at a time until the waveform is pretty big but not clipped.

Another thing that might be helpful is the Spectrogram view. I made some posts in this thread explaining how to use Spectrogram view to beat sync. I hope that helps! Let me know if there's anything I can clarify.

Yeah it was tabbed VEEEEERRY wrong because i literally did it by myself. I clicked on the string , typed the note out, pressed right for next note, typed it out etc.... I just had to write it down someway.

Ill look into doing that shortly. Ill let you know.

  13. I'm trying to sync up a song that has 0 timestamps and notes are always close together, now i need to sync every note by itself.

If there was a way i could sync it by pressing a button (got a rhythm in my head) at the right time rather than finding a tiny little section on Waveform graph where the note starts.

Talking about Waveform graph. Is there any way of making this bad boy bigger? I find it really small and like i stated before, finding the exact position the note starts on is painful.

Any ideas on how to improve my syncing process, increase waveform graph?

    Thanks!

  14. Project #3

Since i got me quite a bit of free time i decided to do two projects at the same time. This way i can work on something else if I encounter a dead end in the previous one ;)

    Artist: Quarterflash

    Song: Harden my Heart

    Album: Poison Kiss

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqeKV2UYq1Q

    Progress so far?

For now i only have the starting section synced up and working its gonna be a lot of work since its all over the place but i plan on making it happen. There is also a tricky tone that ill just probably end up requesting on the site. I also plan on making lyrics.

For starter there is not gonna be any rhythm / bass charts. Sorry peeps! I'll edit this post with updates if necessary.

  15. Project #2

Its been a hell of a time since i last posted here. (almost a year) I concentrated on playing the guitar more than on making any sort of CDLC. Recently i decided to make few more CDLC since its a nice project and it takes up a bit of a free time. I canceled my previous one, Sister Christian, and went on to a different one.

    Artist: The Last Goodbye

    Song: Pictures of you

    Album: Poison Kiss

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7QWZBiNTMc

    Progress so far?

So far i charted out the chorus parts and they seem fine. I need to fix 2 big things. Slide section, palm mutes section and one section that i dont know what to do with just yet  :)

After i chart that out i plan on making lyrics for it. There's probably not gonna be any rhythm / bass charts. Sorry peeps! I'll edit this post with updates if necessary.

The project is now finished, you can get it here:
