  1. As long as I'm not in a high stress situation I'm stable. Get a bunch of people breathing down my neck, get ready for a fight to be instigated. I'm generally the kind that when I do snap, I want to cause pain, not kill, just a lot of pain. When comes to weapons when I snap, a knife is what you want to be watching for. I also had gun safety drilled into me ever since I can remember, and gun rights are important to me, so I excersise caution with them. I've only ever actually used my gun once, and that was when a drug dealer tried to rip me off. From what I hear he's still hustlin', but his right shoulder doesn't work well anymore. I've been out of that scene for a while now, 3 years sober last month.

That was a very interesting day though, ended up deaf for about a week, blew the passenger side window out of my truck, 2 of 3 rounds hit as he was running away. Never hid a gun and ditched casings so fast in my life. Ended up getting my money and the bud back since I was apparently the only person he knew that knows how to remove a bullet and stitch a wound. I used to make bat shit crazy look like a cuddly kitten back then lol. If you're ever in the area, talk to my old high school teachers, someone who knew me in my early 20's, one of the orderly's at the state mental hospital, and someone that knows me now and try to guess how many personality changes I've gone through. One thing is for sure, my life has never been boring lol.

We all go off the rails at some point , just some worse than others lol b

  2. Lol, I have 2 amps, a Spider 3 30w for my guitar, and a Kustom K100 for my bass. I've had the neighbors almost a block away show up with the cops once or twice hehehe

Neither of our hearing is very great, he used to be a gunsmith, and after he taught me what he knew about firearms up through WW1, I got pro training for the modern stuff. Basically, we spent a lot of years shooting shit, and every now and then we blew something up :D Unfortunately I can't get a Class 3 license to run a shop until I'm off probation. Once I get some $$$$ saved up though, I do plan to talk to my PO about having ownership of a shop in my mom's name and work as an employee. There's a lot of loopholes and grey areas legally that have to be sorted out to make that happen though.

One example is that while I'm allowed to own firearms, I'm not allowed to buy them or more ammo than my current stockpile (which is considerable). However, the ATF doesn't recognise firearms produced before 189? (gonna have to look up the exact year again), so you can actually buy them without registering them, and have them shipped through the mail. You can also build firearms and not have to put a serial number on them, or report them to the ATF as long as you don't intend to sell them.

Dude , don't take this the wrong way but you sound like the kinda guy you see stories about on the news.

Do you think it wise to have access to an arsenal of weapons when you are prone to snapping? I'm from the UK and it seems like insanity to let someone with a diagnosed depressive illness and history of "snapping" anywhere near a gun.

Having said that you do seem like the caring kind and love you grandpa , worts and all. :)

  3. My Grandpa had the bright idea to tell me that I spend too much time with my bass, and that I should do something else with my time. He quickly regreted it lol. You may want to have any pets leave the room before you hit play. I tried putting this on Youtube, but the copyright bs blocked the audio.

Far be it from me to tell you how to rebel but at 83 I'm sure your grandpa's hearing is not as good as it was and he is unlikely to be offended at your current volume. Get an amp , crank it up and really give the mean old bastard something to complain about. I suggest learning Rage's - Killing In The Name :). Also if he gives you shit about getting a job , tell him you've already told him that you have one ( not nice to lie to Alzheimer patients but if it makes them happy - no harm no foul)

    Hello guys!

I don't know if the following two problems are familiar with a few more people but I still wanted to show them.

The first problem is the editing thing. Since I'm a member here (May 2014) there was (I think so) always this extra bar for font size, font color, connecting links with a text, smileys etc in a forum or when you wanted to comment something. I hope you know what I mean. For example in my Workshop the site and editing was all well-ordered but now it looks just like a mess. I know these are like 'commands' for how the words should be like but it looks confusing to me.

Since end january/beginnig of february (I'm not sure anymore) this bar is away for me as well as the small problem in my next point appears.

The second point is that there was always this preview photo of some youtube links if you put them on your cdlc site for example. Now it's just the link I see. No big problem but I just wanted to say it

I'm using the newest version of Firefox if it is important.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Ad blocker was the problem...should have come to this idea earlier...

    Thank you!

  7. I want to give as much, if not more than I take, while giving people every opportunity to do the same.

Clearly, not everyone thinks that way.

Don't really want to hijack this thread but that's an interesting ethos , I would also lke to give as much as I take but was wondering if you see it as upload 1 = download 1 or maybe uploading a track is worth more downloading a track. If it's a 1 for 1 basis , I've only got about 9000 odd songs to go before I break even :(

  8. You'll have to wait for a mod to answer this.

If a custom is availabe on this site I don't see why you would want to share it anywhere else , this is not an underground site. If it's not availabe on this site then the issue would be with the original creator so as long as you don't make money you won't be be breaking any forum rules ( i think ) but you might be making enemies.

  9. @@firekorn and @@Teckie I agree with just about everything you guys said.

IMO it boils down to two things:

    1) Having a system that is inclusive, but also rewards quality

    2) Encouraging both engagement and constructive criticism - which sort of ties into the above point.

When you reward quality, charters are (hopefully) going to be driven to improve and learn. Which means we should have some way of quantifying a quality custom, in a way that isn't easily corrupted (i.e the SA rating system).

Regarding engagement... when I started charting over at SA (we had to walk to school uphill, in the snow, both ways - and bread was a nickel :)), I learned a lot through simple constructive comments that were made in the threads of my CDLC. And the positive comments were equally motivating.

I don't know what the number used to be, but now, I get about 1 comment for every 100 downloads. We have have a MASSIVE amount of users, but a very small percentage that post semi-frequently (let alone submit customs). IMO our size is a resource that we're not putting to use. Perhaps by encouraging people to comment, and dare I say it, rate CDLC... we could bring some of these users into the fold.

In order to prevent tampering, perhaps there would be an x # of characters required for your assessment and rating score. With a "flag" button, so that users can report reviews that aren't constructive. It may not be perfect, but something along those lines might encourage people to engage more, while also rewarding quality.

Anyway, just a few (sort of) quick thoughts. @@cozy1

Imo rewarding charters is not going increase quality unless it's financial which is obviously a non starter.

I also think the only way of encouraging comments and ratings fairly is rewarding downloaders. The only way I can see this happening is by capping downloads and the rewards being more downloads.

I think ratings should be colour coded ( traffic lights ) . Red - Not Playable.  Amber - Playable but needs work. Green -  Playable , with an added dropdown box listing faults :- sync, bad tab , no tone etc.

    Just my opinion :)

  10.

I'll add to this my personal opinion (which doesn't necessarily reflect the direction that we're taking).

For a community of our size to grow effectively, we have to give all members equal opportunity to submit content and have it seen by others. I would like to see us take on the same structure as YouTube, where submitted content can be Liked, Disliked or Flagged (if it breaks the rules). I believe that "blocking" other users should be reserved for something more than a browsing inconvenience (e.g. they are harassing you).

If you think that someone is posting poor quality content, Dislike it and provide that feedback, or report it if they are blatantly abusing the privilege of submitting CDLC. Filtering takes away that constructive feedback and segregates content, which is something I don't believe we can mess up.

What if they improve? You're missing out on their content and they're missing out on your viewership. All in the interest of making tables slightly smaller in size.

I understand, and perhaps blocking users is indeed unnecessary. What I really want is something similar to "add to collection" button for disliked CDLC. It can still remain in the search page, but that way we'd at least know what we've already tried and disliked.

So you'd like a reminder letting you know that you've already dl'ed a file but disliked it?

Am I being really stupid here or is there a way of coping notes & tech notes together rather than copy and pasting notes then copy and pasting the tech note ?

Currently, there's no way to copy/paste them together. They have to be done separately, as you/we have been doing.

My guess is that it would be a fairly difficult feature to implement, otherwise I'd like to think @@raynebc would have done it already :D

    Thanks Led :)

I dont know what the collective noun for guitars is but thats a nice "oniomania" of guitars :)

    Pretty much.

Back row l-r: Gibson SG Special, Gibson Les Paul Classic, Ibanez DT-520, Jackson Pro Soloist, Gibson 60's Tribute Les Paul, the 'Les Jim'(kit build bolt-on LP with humbucker-size P90s), Fender MIM Telecaster, the 'Telecrapster'(another kit build, just HBs in)

In the front: Epiphone LP standard(pickups swapped out, damned if I remember what's in now), Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster, Ibanez S770, Ibanez SGR200(I think) bass.

Missing from the lineup is my MIM Strat, because I haven't finished rewiring it yet.

    Telecrapster

If I had a choice , I'd pick the SG. I've got an Epi G-400 pro and that's the closest I'll get to a Gibson

  13.

I decided to choose wierdest film. I've seen so many wierd films but not many I'd reccomend.

I don't want to describe the films in case I spoil them..

    Videodrome (1983) - a very surreal experience

Society (1989) - shunting!! say no more

You need at least 1 Troma film so I'd go for Terror Firmer (1999) - cult classic for diehard Troma fans

Donnie Darko (2001) - nicely disturbing

    Enemy (2013) - WTF!

WTF - all possible choices :)

Thus i really have to force you to gimme your BEST/COOLEST list, too!!!!!!

I'm sure you've got Tarantino covered  (Resevoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction,True Romance )

so my cool list would be

    Bladerunner (1982)

    Falling Down (1993)

    Trainspotting (1996)

    Fight Club (1999)

    Man On Fire (2004)

And coz I like a good heist

The Bank Job (2008) - based on true events

    Inception (2010)

  16. Is there an issue with the dates in the database. Seems like it's going from 3/3 to 2/3 then to 1/3 skipping all the dates in between. I know there is maintenance being performed is this related to it?

EDIT: After looking further it looks like maybe some of the dates are in US format and some are in European ie 3/2/2016 or 2/3/2016

I've never understood why in the US date format , Independence day is sometimes referred to as "4th July"
