🤯 I already knew Rodman was an expert guitar maker, but I didn't know we had an expert 3D guitar printer. 👏

Was the 3D design your own, adapted or from a 3D modeling site (Thingiverse)?

I saw Diceslinger's post last night, (@ diceslinger  that looks really cool!) and tried very much so not to interject myself in again as I don't participate in the championships. I "have to" throw my 2 cents in, that to me is amazing people are able to get a 3d printer to squirt out such cool artistic designs and make them function.

2 years ago, another forum member IamLurker posted his 3d project, and I am totally blown away with how his also turned out, very 80's design. Check it out:

It blows my mind that you and Rodman have made guitars. Real craftsmen ship from you guys!

I love the colors of the guitar I think if I were to get a new one or bass it's be with those tones. Also very interesting that most of it's been 3d printed. I remember my yt shorts were filled with them during covid. Almost convinced me to get one. Anyways much respect.

The filament is a dualsilk, and they are eye catching with the two color mix.  They are more brittle than standard PLA filament, so we will see if it is a poor choice in the long term.  This is Mark I, I'm not sure what Mark II will look like.  They have wood infused PLA that I might like to try...

@ Rodman is is a different league, his was amazing!  Mine was kit parts and this 3d design is based on the modulcaster on printables.com.  However, Mark II is the real goal.  My project group (for a class I'm taking) is going to redesign it to hold some more electronics, so we are all learning CAD.  We will see what it looks like!

I like that design, The wood center makes sense.  I considered either a wood core, or metal rods in mine, but in the end I wanted to see how the material holds up.  Typically things are printed with 2 loops for the sides, and 2-3 layers for the top and bottom, and the rest is a grid-like infill.  I printed the core with 7 loops for the walls, and 7 layers for the top and bottom.  Time will tell if it is strong enough.

I have to say, the newer BambuLab printers take a lot of the work out of 3d printing.  They are amazing and take a lot of the fiddly-ness out of 3d printing!

Absolutely nothing wrong with experimenting, especially with a Printer. This is severely understating it, and I truly can't speak as I don't / haven't 3d printed, but basically (minus the hours print time and filament cost) if you mess up, or it doesn't work, just squirt another improvement whereas getting another $100+ chunk of wood and hours physical labor making a new wood body ....

I am really curious to see how it does hold up.

Seriously, I am impressed and slightly jealous of both you and Lurker, good job. I am sure you will make improvements and more designs. A great advantage and opportunity with learning the CAD. I am so sure it will help you drastically.

He really is, on both accounts. I know from my own failures, making a neck is absolutely no easy task and so easy to mess up.

Is anyone else having note detection issues with Fire Water Burn?

Yes, the chord detection issue seems to be common there.

Of course some notes wasn't detected. Why not. That's so funny isn't it?

In the end of big section fast part is hard. Practicing it is hard too because the part is very long.

can't hear the bass in RS and it says low volume at max gain but it works fine in Reaper, then when I try to do anything in Reaper it's crackling on the guitar tracks... we are all going thru it rn lol

Most likely no one / looks like A.I used your picture as your score even though it says satinuke.  Just try to not post scores from other songs or table scores cause it seems to break it. (unless you want to be sneaky and win for that week😄)
dMKlbOh.png
Hopefully it wont count this picture aswell since most of its blured out but who knows.

The main problem with ai from what ive seen is it automatically pushes the scores...I think it would make organizers life a lil easier if there would be a button for it to only do that once it gets pressed.

This would allow the host of the week to precheck the scores first and see if theres any invalid ones such as yours and mark it before pressing it. Cause right now you can make them invalid but doesnt matter once they are already on the table..

Or maybe it is set up that way and one of the organizers is just pressing gather results without checking first idk. @ avastreg  would know though.

So annoyed! I can't create my cover for Black Holes! I recorded different takes for lead/rythm/bass and i don't manage to set all these takes to the same tempo with Ableton! 😭🤯 I'll try to read more tutorial but really I want to spend time playing guitar, not with figuring out software! 🙄

@ diceslinger  i cannot believe my eyes!!! We´ll get into that tomorrow cause i need time to inspect the pictures thoroughly.

Another lesson learned...

Had some real fun there...

Started with bass playthrough the whole song.
Then i  did the heavy guitar but a lil more metal rhythm style maybe i was thinking.
2 passes of acoustic, added some drums and lil synthie thingies, 20 mins of mixing and ... i must say the production quality is getting somewhere.
Thx for pushing!!!!
Don´t forget to post some covers yourself!!!

I've been wrestling with Audacity because my cover for Space Oddity is not in the same tempo between bass and rhythm (and now I'm experimenting with tempo/rhythm effects 🤣 )

It's been a learning experience 😁

Don't know if the result will be usable though

surprised this is rated only a 5.5? seemed a bit difficult to me but oki

Wow I agree with @ cacahuate51  about the bass difficulty rating! 😆
@ Rodman  This is definitely harder than 5.5, I see that in the selection sheet this was initially rated 7 and in my opinion it is correct rating (this could be an upleveling song) or at least 6.5. This is fast and tiring for the hands. I don't see much chance of doing 99% here...🙄

I didn't mention it earlier but when it comes to guitars I agree with all diff ratings, this bass is the only one where I felt dissonance.

Incredible, great job with the synths and overall production! The acoustic effect was only reverb?

Top quality music production!! 🤯

This is just amazing! I love that design, open, lightweight, beautiful! And the colr choice... absolutely +1.
One and only part to care about the stability is the centerpart from the neckjoint up to the neck - is that all filament also?
The filament i use for printing i think if it´s a massive 4cm part would stand the test against the stringtension... if not you could print 2 slots for carbonfibrerods there (cheap and ultra-effective, i also use those to strenghten my wooden necks as modern guitar companies do).
The hybrid system with wooden neck - absolutely +1, the headstockshape - beauty!

How does that filament of yours behave when sanding? I know myself and i´d be probably sanding, polishing and foxing minispots with superglue and fil-dust for hours just because.

One idea lookingh at the headstock - print out matching letters and glue them to the head to brand it and harmonize the optics on the other end maybe.

You absolutely rock! Bravo.
Rod.
