SIDE CHALLENGE - Let´s COVER some [24]

Rules? No rules! We pick a song and everybody is invited to share his version. Songs shall be called every week, if you don´t manage to nail your version within the week - entrances are ALWAYS welcome. No winners, no losers, just fun and personal progress, a bit bringing in the harvest of the hard work we all do here every week by converting to own produced music, and (for me very important) learning (easy versions) of songs to be able to play them anytime when a guitar is in the room - and that shall be a part of thinking on the next song selection maybe.

So - as we had Beatles - And i Love Her last week  JUST GREAT, yay!!!! Everyone who has not finished his cover - just post whenever ready in the running week (yes, this one) so we all will recognise it.

This week THE HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN 

This is such a great song for the championship.  Just one of the multiple terrific songs and bands I keep learning about here every week.  Despite the many frustrating bits, it's really fun to both listen to and play, and the tight drum track is simultaneously rewarding when you hit a passage and punishing when you immediately know you've missed a passage.  It's like when the teacher hits you over the knuckles with a ruler when you pronounce a word wrong  - ok, I'm not quite old enough to have experienced that but I know people who have...

Is there a place can I download the Drop-D version of Rise Up?  I'm having huge buzzing and note recognition issues on the original tuning.

I was trying King of Whitewater and noticed that it doesn't show me the purple bars and didn't count the 2 times that I played it. Weird...  Has anyone had this?

It usually happens with old cdlcs and i think ones created with toolkit instead of dlc builder. If the bars arent purple it means theres no dynamic difficulty but that doesnt matter too much since we play at 100% and well DD is autogenerated.  If  you want to see the number of plays you can download cfsm and repair dynamic difficulty (this will make it purple and display the number of plays).

I just can't get any better with this song, great song.

I found some time to play something again.

I see that I have the best score in MC Rhythm, resulting from the fact that others are lazy and do not want to compete, so my test score is the best 😆

I am doing a full setup of all my guitars after reading @ Rodman  guide so might be a wrap for me this week! I don’t think I could get it flawless 🔥 like that by the end of the clock  🎉 congrats

@ Mikson  you've got an hour and 30 mins to beat me  in the sum41 song 🙂 i think if you play it one more time you'll do it!! I'll be testing songs for next week so i think those are my last scores. thanks for the extra push even if you arent masterclass rhythm (one day xD)

Unfortunately I didn't get much time to play this week, a lot of stuff going on family wise.

Like I did last week, I'll stick in some suggestions in case anyone wants to delve a little deeper into this weeks music!

This was a fun little song! Had never heard of these guys and I have no idea what they were singing about but a great song for some chord warmups

Placebo are one of those bands that I have been "getting" more as I've gotten older; I remember seeing them at Sonisphere 2010 in Knebworth and thinking they were awful but now I'm that bit older and wiser I think I can appreciate them and what they are going for. I liked this song but it took me a few goes to get my head around what the lead was doing. I'll be honest, I don't know much of their stuff to recommend but what I do know I think are great songs

3. Running Up That Hill (Kate Bush cover)

Sum 41 are, in my humble opinion, pop punk royalty. I hadn't listened to any of their new stuff and this was a damn sight heavier than I was expecting so of course I loved it. That solo was killer as well, especially with the Dragonforce-esque tremolo picking to start it off. My suggestions are going to be mainly from when I predominantly listened to them back 10-15 years or so.

1. Fat Lip, In Too Deep (these get bundled into one suggestion, most of you probably know them already!)

Ever since I first heard Alley Cat in one of the championships last year I haven't gone a few days without chucking these guys on, this song being one of my favourites. Just something about the way that chord hits in the chorus, just incredible song writing. I really wanted to give this one a couple more runs through but I just couldn't make the time unfortunately

Damn old school Alestorm used to shred! I remember when I first heard this one I couldn't get over the fact that their new guitarist was just their bass player from Captain Morgan's Revenge, Dani Evans has got some crazy chops. I want to try to get another stab at this one, should be able to seeing as there are 3 more weeks left on it.

Bit trickier to recommend songs when it's an entire album, I always preferred older "heavier, shreddier" Alestorm than the more modern "party" one myself
