Awesome playing @@Brutus Erectus! It's one thing to be able to play music from Rocksmith or from tabs, but to be able to improvise like that takes it to a whole new level.

I've had this in the collection since the last Clutch song a few weeks back but haven't yet put the time in to learn it properly. Hitting those bends consistently is the challenge this week.

@@diddie17 I never said that I didn't want a little competition, that is why it is a champioship and there is awards and everything-, right? That's good. Also I didn't win last time,  I was 3rd so I'm not taking any trophy from anyone and that thrived me a little bit for this week. What I do usually is go for the points initially and then go for the tone and soul.

 

In any case I'm new here and I'll follow the rules of the competition. I don't want anyone to be resentful so I'll without any trouble go into the category that the moderators (the purple names :)) decide. They are the rulers.

It's a fine line between pushing yourself to learn something new and giving up in disgust because it's way outta your league. Playing guitar should be enjoyable......the last two weeks have been nothing but frustrating for me so i'm packing up my bat and ball and focusing on some more Clutch this week. 

Arrrrgh! so frustrated with this song! I can make the bar chords register 99% of the time, but just cannot get those 3 high strings to ring out cleanly. It seems like the underside of my first joint is right over the b string and not pushing down on the fret enough.

Awesome song pick @@albatross213 . Never heard of Clutch before, but after playing 1141 (the programmers here will understand  :P ), I've now downloaded 8 of their CDLC's......all of them great fun to play. Playing them well is a different story though.

Beginners have it tough this week. I'd call Blondie a solid intermediate song. Lots of fast shuffling all over the neck.

You could try life as a freebird. It's a zen thing.  Imagine yourself as a seagull, serenely soaring above the fray.  You play what you want, when you want, unconcerned with deadlines and perfection; perfection is the enemy of good, after all.  Then when some unsuspecting child drops their ice cream cone, you swoop in make annoying noises, crap all over the place and disappear as suddenly as you arrived.  Just like I did now.  Bye.

Now it's time to see if I can make Alice Cooper sound half decent.

I'm not sure why the 99+ rule was introduced and i don't see why it's necessary. If a player is consistently in the low to mid 90's, then one week scores a 99+, the reasons can be varied. It could be that the chosen songs difficulty is at the very bottom of the class or it could be that the player is better at a certain technique than others. Either way, this shouldn't result in a level up.

Voting just adds complexity to the system. I'd suggest losing the >99 level up rule and maybe changing the >97 for 3 weeks in row to >97 for 3 weeks out of 5. I think scoring >97 3 weeks in a row would be quite difficult and could result in a player dominating a class. With a >97 for 3 out of 5 rule, a hard song for 1 week where everyone scores lower than usual would not influence the rankings. The player would still be up leveled provided 3 of the last 5 scores were >97. Hope that makes sense?
