  1. Good selection of songs this week!

My first impressions are that in the lead path, int and adv songs should be swapped. I scored 85% on the first playthrough of Iron Maiden, whereas only 75% on Johnny Hallyday. I felt this song was a lot more technical than the IM song.

Anyone else find the same, or is it just me

  2. No offence to the song selector, but this just isn't my type of music. With some more RR i'm sure i could improve on this song, but i'm just not into it.

This song has however highlighted my crappy chord changes. I've spent most of the week playing "American Pie" which has helped a lot. I still seem to struggle with the C chord though......

    Anyhow:

  3. Man i'm struggling to make this sound decent. I'm trying to mute the low E with my thumb so i don't have to be so carefull with my strumming, but then it's feels awkward to wrap my hand around to reach 5G & 7D. Anyhow......

PS. I removed DD so i could get through Score Attack on easy. I trust this is still legit?

  4. What he said ^^^.

If it ain't broke, why try and fix it? Prior to joining the comp i was doing the same as storm20200 - skimming through CDLC to find a song i liked, then attempting to play it. When it got too hard i just found another song rather than focusing on the hard parts and trying to improve on them.

Everyone has different tastes in music and if the comp was extended to two weeks, i suspect a few players will get bored if the song is not to their liking (i know i would), so for this reason i'd leave it at one week.

As for the extra class, i'm not really for or against. My only concern would be the extra load on the mods. But again....if it ain't broke......

  5. I'm shattered......i'm working away from home for the next two weeks so won't be participating in the championship . I could count on one hand the number of days i haven't played since first picking up a guitar 6 months ago, so this is going to be tough.

Good timing though.......those solos in both the beginner and int songs look tough!

  6. Final score. Had a few note recognition issues on the last run....most likely not clean notes at either end of the stretch. Pretty happy with it considering i thought i'd struggle with the speed at the start of the week.

  7. Lead - i've got the main riff down at 100% speed but the subtle change mid riff including the high e note has me screwed over at the moment. The same riff shifted down the neck towards the end is also a little tougher due to the extra reach required.

    So far:

    Rhythm - power chord city!

Love Sabbath and have been trying to play this for a while. Still needs a lot of work.....

  8. Another awesome intermediate song! I tried to play this a couple of months after i started playing but the best i could get was around 65%. With a few more months under my belt, i managed 88% on my first pass.

I need some more practice on the bends at the end though....
