  1. Update on the days progress

That's more like it ! Still some polishing to do, and some serious RR on the ascending legato section on the B string, but other than that not too shabby.

First full run through, not a Maiden fan, but I like this song.

  2.

Laptop is running Win 7.  Any ideas why it would do this?

Cable probably isn't configured properly. I think if you head to /Steam/steamapps/common/Rocksmith 2014 you'll find a pdf with instructions on how to configure the cable correctly.

edit: also check this page http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/802854-Rocksmith-2014-PC-Configuration-and-FAQ-Forums

Anyway, is there anything better than a lazy rainy Sunday of guitar playing ? Possibly the fact that tomorrows a bank holiday and I get to do it all over again :)

Some results for the day -

Quite a difficult beginner song in my opinion, but fun non the less.

  3. @ a belated happy birthday to you ! Hope you had a good day and thanks for all the work you do around here :)

    Update on Adv Lead:

I've really hit my skill limit with this song, so I had to remove DD to stop it levelling me down during the solo. Still pretty pleased with what I've managed but I think this will be my final submission on this song for the week.

  4. @@DevStereo I own a copy of John Petruccis 'Rock Discipline', which has a section on warm up exercises for pick and fret hand. I find it really good at reducing aches and niggles and always run through the exercises before a long session.

Thankfully @@Squidtech uploaded the video and CDLC of the exercises to the site, http://customsforge.com/topic/10069-john-petruccis-rock-discipline-now-as-cdlc/

I'd recommend checking it out :)

  5. Blind Guardian - really out of my comfort zone on this one, I just don't play fast metal rhythm or super quick solos.

Anyway decided to give the rhythm a crack tonight, initial impressions weren't good, but I stuck at it and then this happened:

Genuinely stoked with this result ! I guess I must be getting better :) (wrist is bloody killing me though !)

Edit: noooo, now I have to do it all over again for version 2 *shakes fist*

Just kidding, thanks for the update @@Teinashu :)

  6. Back for another week, and I must say I highly approve of all of this weeks choices !

Went for a spot of mountain climbing yesterday and definitely feeling the effects in my arms, hands and wrists today ! So gently eased myself into playing today with beginner and intermediate lead:

Missed exactly 1 note in each of them !

  7. @@Rodman congrats on your progress over the last year !

It's been an extremely busy week, not much time for practice and I'm away for the rest of the week so this is my last chance at updates for this round.

Fun practice piece, just needs some polishing.

Meh, disappointing but just no time to work on this one at all :(

Hopefully back with a bang next week !

  8. Having a bit of a slow week, works starting to pile up and I'm away all weekend so not a lot of time for guitar unfortunately.

Adv. lead - still working on it ! in the meantime:

    Int. rhythm -

Fun song to play, 3 random silly misses in this run but I think I can mark this one down as learned and move on.

Going to try and tackle the new Asylum of Glass version tomorrow.

  9. No updates to post just yet, but when I got home from work the postman had dropped off a large and suspiciously guitar shaped package at the house - that's right, it's new guitar day !!!

Well, not actually new, but new to me, and in immaculate condition :)

She's a custom made 70s Strat replica - features a Warmoth body and neck, trem from a 40th anniversary American strat and Fender Custom Shop Fat 54 pickups. Sounds and feels absolutely amazing, right up there with a proper American strat, but it cost me less than a new middle of the range Squier.

Taking a bit of getting used to, it's nowhere near as forgiving as my other guitar and has a higher action, but it's a blast to play - really begs to be spanked around a bit, unlike my Schecter which requires just the lighest of caresses.

Just have to think of a name for her now...

  10. Struggling badly with the adv. lead :(

Of the 14 unique RR sections I can play 11, but the last 3 are proving to be extremely difficult for me.

Not to mention everything goes to complete crap when I try to put it all together.

    Best effort so far:

Still early in the week, haven't given up hope yet !

  11. Deceptively tough song this:

    http://i57.tinypic.com/291ch8m.png

Still some improvements to be made, the 100% isn't out of the question, but for now it's time to concentrate on the lead for a while.

Edit: First run through the lead. Wow, lot of work to do. Really need to brush up on my scales !

Should be doable since there's no crazy fast picking or advanced techniques involved, but it's gonna take some time.

  12. Disappointed to see Tool go, I was enjoying learning that.

Interestingly, the CDLC I have is different to the one on this site. It's not my work, but I have no idea where I got it from so can't credit the author. To me it's a better version.

Had a quick run through beethoven, a song I can already play on piano, but I'm liking this rock version !

Edit: I think all my cdlc are set to REMs Whats the Frequency..., so if it doesn't show up you'll have the change that !

  13. Found myself with some unexpected quiet time so had a quick run through this weeks songs. Only one score I don't feel embarrassed about sharing

    http://i62.tinypic.com/dvhw6q.png

Not a big Iron Maiden fan, but I'll definitely be coming back to this one.

Oh, and can the leaderboard mods drop me back to intermediate lead please, my lead playing is pretty bad and I'm no way fit for the advanced tunes. Thanks :)

Edit: One more - always preferred the Eva Cassidy version of this song.

  14. Hey guys,

No submissions from me this week, but for a very good reason.

Myself and a few friends have been trying to organise a jam session evening for the last few weeks, and this week we finally managed to get everyone organised to be in the same place at the same time to play together, so I've spent the week learning some tunes for that.

Just got back from it, had a great time, hopefully it'll turn into a semi regular thing !
