Took me forever to get up to speed on one section in the song, spent the last few days trying to get from 90% to 100% speed, only just managed it this evening and even then it was a bit of a fluke.

Still got a few hours in the morning though :)

I think my hand's going to fall off after putting in quite a lot of time playing this week :) Here's the results of my efforts.

Firstly, a proper score for MC rhythm - btw we need more people to level up and join me, come on guys and girls you can do it !

Turns out my bass can't handle anything lower than D flat, and even at that you have to find the exact tuning sweet spot.

Even tougher than I expected, but it's starting to come together.

Oh yeah, Metallica ! Great song, and there's a little bit of everything technique wise in there. Unfortunately my bass won't tune down to B so I'll have to skip that.

Also hoping to learn Enter Shikari and SOAD.

Haven't really given this one a good go, should improve a good bit before weeks end.

I always get random missed notes when I'm chugging away on the open A string - might be the lower tuning causing an issue.

Tomorrow I might try and improve a few scores here and there depending on time and how the leaderboards look.

I know a few people who've ordered from gear4music without issue, so you should be fine.

As for amps, I'm no expert, but I've been thinking about getting a practice amp for home use.

I'm currently leaning towards the Blackstar ID Core 10 - 2x 3inch 5w speakers, decent selection of tones and effects, USB connection with software to edit presets and record direct to PC and it's available for around €120.

Plenty of reviews around online, give it a google.

A new guitar will likely be easier to play than your current one, also it can be a great motivator to practice more !

You don't have to spend that much these days to get a great instrument, get yourself down to your local guitar shop and try out a bunch of different guitars and see what feels good, that's the only way you'll know if it's worth the extra investment.

Took delivery of my first ever bass guitar today ! Nothing fancy, just a cheap and cheerful short scale p bass from Thomann. Might put a review of it up in the gear section in a day or two if anyone's interested.

Anyway, first bass score :)

Just the pne play though for my adv lead class - wasn't expecting to enjoy this, but it's actually quite good :)

With a bit of practice I should be able to get a decent score.

Many plays for Pearl Jam though, love the band and really like this song !

I think it rates higher than a 2 for difficulty though.

I was going Freebird for a few weeks, but now that I have more time to play I'll rejoin my class - I know I'm already listed in MC Rhythm, but can't find my name anywhere in the lead section.

Not sure if I'm still eligible for MC lead or if I've been downgraded to Advanced ?
