  1. Yeah, it's really rewarding to have it actually doing something.

When I first started, I couldn't get anywhere and it just frustrated me to the point of turning it off in a mood.

I'm still have little niggling problems, of course, but that's gonna happen. Just need to have a bit of patience and take time with it.

I'm off work next week. By then I should be confident enough with this whole process that I can think about making and releasing stuff, with any luck, anyway.

  2. Up until today, I'd always been using the shitty little practice amp that came with my guitar. (value brand set, about £90 all in)

Now that I'm starting to progress on guitar, I'd been looking for a new amp to have a play about with and see if that helped me at all. Popped into a local store, similar idea to a pawn shop/cash converters store, and noticed a Line6 Spider IV 15w for £39.99.

Needless to say I picked it up and I've fallen head over heels in love with it since I got it home.

  3. Personally, I don't add leading silence to my customs until I'm almost done now, rather than messing with the audio file. I just add the silence and then ignore all the warnings about midi and inserting empty measures, and just leave the leading silence completely blank. That way, my measures stay where I put them. It's never been a problem for me in RS2014. I couldn't speak for RS1.

For your timing issues, I still can't help but think something went wrong while you were synching it. Again, do you have the metronome on? Also, are you placing your GPA markers at the peaks of the waveform? I don't know if that's right, but I found that's what works best for me....just sticking it right there in the middle.

    <|>

(that's my waveform spike with the marker in the middle, lol)

Oh, my timing issues are definitely due to syncing. I've obviously just got it a little bit off when I was doing it in GPA. Just need to be more careful is all.

I need to go back to the EOF file and check with the leading silence, see whats happened there. This is all just a learning curve though, and I really appreciate all the help that I've been getting.

Other than that, Rasputin really worked fine.

  4. I tried it again, and this time it just sat at the note highway...tried it again and it done the same thing :P So frustrating.

I'm going to take a step back from that particular song, start fresh with another track and see where we go from there.

    edit:

Changed songs and went with Turisas - Rasputin. Done a basic sync and everything seems to work fine to the point where it will load and play completely within Rocksmith (YAY!)

However-: I've noticed that there are parts where the timing is slightly out and I forgot to add a leading silence (I'm sure I did, but w/e)  So my question is, if I go back into GPA and fix the sync issues, I'll then need to go back into EOF to rectify the issues and add a leading silence.

Am I best, in that case, just to start from scratch and redo the wwise stage too? EoF seems a bit clunkly when it comes to reloading past projects

  5. Thanks again guys.

I done the process again and got the song working...kinda.

The song started about 20 seconds further than where it should have and then proceeded to crash after about 30 seconds of playtime.

Not quite sure what happened, but it could have been something I done during the EoF process, it was pretty rushed as I didn't have much time before work.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll take a bit more time and get it to work properly

  6. It was amps and blank wall. I could play but the highway never appeared.

I've never got my head around sorting out sections and stuff like that, so I'm guessing it could be something along those lines.

Also, yes... GPA. It's exceptional and more than worth the money

  7. I think there could definitely be an issue with some tabs/gp files.

I tried the above method for Justboy and had all of the same little nagging issues with the note spacing and whatever, no matter what I changed. Decided to try something else and began work on some New Found Glory and the bass has synced up with minmal effort, so that's something.

    Thanks again!

  8. Hey guys, looking for a little bit of advice here.

I've been trying to make a little foray into creating my own custom songs for Rocksmith but I'm struggling and in need of some advice. When I'm importing the guitar pro tab for whichever file I choose to try, the spaces between the notes seems to be all over the place, regardless of the bpm I've set for the track.

I've watched a couple of videos that have been posted here, but they never seem to have this issue and everything seems to line up fine.

Is it just a case of messing with the bpm until I find something that fits? That gives me another question...what is the best way of determening bpm?

For example, I was trying to make the Biffy Clyro song 'Justboy'. The GP tab has the bpm at 110 (and when played through GP it's fine) but if I set that bpm on EoF, it's way off.

Maybe I'm out of my depth, as Im still only a beginner guitarist anyway, but I'm more than a little confused just now

  9. Christ. Let me see who I can remember.

    Slayer

    Slipknot

    Lamb of God

    Napalm Death x 3

    Judas Priest

    Megadeth

    Testament

    Skeletonwitch

    Black Dahlia Murder x 2

    New Found Glory

    Four Year Strong

    Audioslave (festival)

    Foo Fighters (Festival)

    Hayseed Dixie (Festival)

    The Prodigy

    GreenDay

    Mastodon

    Cannibal Corpse

    Dying Fetus

    Bring Me The Horizon

    Sylosis

    Alestorm

    Berzerker

    Set Your Goals

    Death From Above 1979

    EDIT:

    A few more...

Biffy Clyro, Bowling for Soup, QOTSA, Eagles of Death Metal, Goldie Lookin' Chain (if anybody remembers them!) As I lay Dying, Bleed from Within, Cerebral Bore, The Strokes

These were mainly as headline acts. There's a few that were support for another act on the list and one or two festival appearances. The number is well into the 100's now, but I really cant bring myself to remember most of them

  10. I've not been playing guitar long enough to really take advantage of session mode, I don't think.

After maybe 6 or so months, I'm starting to get comfortable with basic theory and playing the songs in game but when I go to session mode, I find myself just noodling along with single notes from the scale.

Sometimes I feel like I lack the creativity for session mode, but sometimes something just clicks and it all sounds a bit lovely. Have a mess around with it more and see how you get on, session mode is only what you make of it.

  11. it's true that the ratio downloads/thanks is ridiculous and it looks like the biggest the forum becomes the less thanks we get from downloaders, but hey, that's just the way it goes

This will always be the case. So many people will sign up and just grab a couple of songs and then they're off again.

I'm guilty of this and it's something I'll strive to work on as I aim to become a more active member of this community. Often it's just sheer forgetfulness, I'll download 5 or more songs and it's sometimes a few days or more until I play them, by then I've often forgot about going back to thank the author.

Apologies on my behalf, but I do appreciate everything the content creators do for us here

  12. Morrowind is probably my favourite game. The Elder Scrolls series in general is incredible, let's just pretend that upcoming MMO doesn't exist.

Others would include most strategy games really, Civ series, C&C, Dungeon Keeper and there's a whole load more, of course.

    180+ games on steam...I've played about 5 :D
