I recently enrolled on free guitar beginner courses at "online universities" Coursera and Udemy.

The udemy course is probably a bit more basic.

The coursera course is more substantial, and teaches a lot more technique, has assignments and quizzes and you can also get a certificate at the end if you want to pay for it, but you don't need to pay anything in order to do the course

Both courses are really good and recommended, and you will learn some things that are not covered in the rocksmith tutorials.

i really do hope its a false positive. surely the developers should contact those av companies, and get them to whitelist the app or something?

my antivirus software (avast) reported that rocksmithtoolkitupdating.exe had a trojan in it

i uploaded the file to virustotal.com and got it to check with all the other antivirus apps, heres the report

Instructions on how to make a Rocksmith Saved Game backup script, that you can run after you finish playing rockmith.

If you are using windows 7, create a new text file on your desktop and name it backuprocksmith.bat

Now open that file in a text editor such as notepad or wordpad

Then copy the following code into it

Copy "C:\Users\smith\AppData\Local\Steam\221680\storage" "C:\backup\rocksmith\storage"

But change the directory locations in the code to where your game data is stored and where you want the backup to be saved (N.B you will need to create the backup directory first before running the script)

then save the file. 

Now whenever you want to backup your rocksmith saved game files, just click the bat file.

It should be pretty similar for mac users, but you will need to write a shell script or something, dont have a mac so cant  help you.

Then if your saved game files ever gets corrupted, you can just copy them back to the original location.

If i got some of the code wrong, feel free to offer a better way of doing it, or the correct file locations, if i have got them wrong.

I wrote a Greasemonkey script that improves the Search page on CustomsForge.com 

What the script does:

Changes the Song Title link to go to the song's info page 

Adds a "?" link next to the song title that goes to the search for other versions of that song.

Changes the Download link to go to the actual download page for that song

More info for those who don't know what Greasemonkey is:

Greasemonkey is a browser extension for Firefox, that lets you add scripts that customise websites functionality and design. There is also an extension for Google Chrome called Tampermonkey that can also run Greasemonkey scripts. There are also Greasemonkey compatible extensions for other browsers available, such as NinjaKit for Safari, and TamperMonkey for Opera.

To run the script, you need to use the extension's interface to create a new script, then copy and paste the code from pastebin over the template code that is generated, then save it.

Detailed instructions for installing on Firefox:

If you are using Greasemonkey on Firefox, heres the instructions for installing the script.

1) Goto the pastebin page, select all the script text in the "Raw Paste Data" section, and copy it

2) Click the "New User Script" option on the Greasemonkey extension menu

3) Click the "Use Script From Clipboard" button

4) Click "Save"

5) Close the script editing window and then go to http://search.customsforge.com to see the script in action

i got rid of the info link, and instead changed the "song title" link to go to the info page (makes more sense that way)

and added a (?) link next to the song title, that links to a search for that song title, which is what the current song title links to.

I just tried a couple of downloads hosted on Google Docs.

Previously i thought these types of download were the best, as there is no fuss and no muss, just a straightforward download link.

But today im getting the following error message:

"Sorry, you can't view or download this file at this time.

Too many users have viewed or downloaded this file recently. Please try accessing the file again later. If the file you are trying to access is particularly large or is shared with many people, it may take up to 24 hours to be able to view or download the file. If you still can't access a file after 24 hours, contact your domain administrator."

Is there a way to easily remove specific songs from a psarc archive file using the custom toolkit?

if not is there a way of mapping all the files from each song in the archive, so a msdos batch file could be created to list all the songs in an unpacked archive, and then give you a menu that would list all the songs and allow you to delete the ones you dont want any more

oh thats cool, really good to hear that. thanks. i guess the other curently available option is the built in "favourites method" where you can "bookmark" your fave tracks by pressing "8" from the song list menu. then sort by favourites

im sure the people that would be using the script would not be reading the info anyway, and going straight for the download, so it just eliminates the extra steps involved.

the website just seemed broken to me, where the download button doesnt actually go to the download page, and after clicking it you need to hunt for the actualy download link, its not a good user interface, this script just fixes it from a User Interface perspective.

people that are curious about reading more about the file and leaving feedback can easily do so, and the people who just want to download the track can also go straight to it.

from a different perspective, the CDLCs are incorporating copyrighted content, so the original creators of the music, might be feeling the same way about what you are doing with their Intellectual property, also I wonder if you use ad-blockers on websites, as that is the same principle you are complaining about, people enjoying free website content, but not allowing the website owners to get any revenue from it. just some thoughts.

btw i for one do  appreciate the time the people who make these DLCs put into them. cheers.

i've got a lot of DLC, some of the psarc files dont have very descriptive names

and some psarc files have multiple songs in them.

is there a tool that allows you to easily edit your rocksmith dlc collection to get rid of the ones you dont want, as scrolling through a long list of tracks in rocksmith is quite laborious to get to a particular track you want to play. its odd they didnt include a search function in the game though i guess thats due to the console based origins of the game.

i realise you can use an unpacker tool to open the psarc files, but it seems its not so straightforward to remove the songs you don't like from the archived files.

maybe there is a tool and i have just missed it, i have searched quite a lot of places.

I realise it will break if the site changes, it was just a fun little challenge i set myself :)

I also understand your reason about wanting feedback on the files.

To install it you need either the Greasemonkey extension for Firefox or Tampermonkey extension for Chrome, or the equivalent Greasemonkey compatible extension for whatever browser you are using.

Once you have the GM compatible extension installed, copy the script from the pastebin into a text file and name it customsforge.user.js then drag that file onto your browser to install it.

in my opinion you should ban sendspace downloads, as they have too many deceptive download links and buttons, leading to malware/adware

it takes a while to examine the page to find the real download link, and the average user, and even the advanced user will often click the wrong download on the page.
