  1. Guys you all have to remember when we first picked up the guitar as a beginner and we didn't even know how to tune it it was very intimidating. As time passed and you learned your chords and some scales and maybe even a song or two you got more confident. These new songs are always going to be very intimidating when you first see them but after a few plays they will start becoming more familiar and your hands will start picking things up faster and faster each play. You may even learn a different part of the song better after each play which will help you learn the song as well. Don't be intimidated by a song when you first see it because if you do you will always have that defeatist attitude that you feel its too hard for you.  This has happened to me many times during the start of a week sometimes I will think I have no chance at playing the song but after i get over my fear of the song and keep practicing it I end up scoring in the top every week. Some songs are just to extreme for my level of skill so I won't compete with people like Mr Pi or Thrallsa or some of the other MC participants but I let that push me each week to get better. If I can get even 5% close to them I feel like I accomplished something. I am sure some of you feel that way about others in this competition and have silent rivalries with others here and thats what this is all about. You set your own goal that no one has to know and when you accomplish it it feels great.

  2. @"That is your choice Collision i said nothing which was meant to offend you or as a personal attack"  - so why did you mention me twice in your post if it was not aimed at me?

I thought you wanted us to highlight any issues with the songs when the list was made and the songs would be finalized later.  Well I offered you my issues and you decided they are not important enough to consider.  Maybe you were pissed off yesterday because the song that you chose was not suitable for the competition.  I thought that as a moderator of the competition you would check each song before submitting them!

And you ask why I do not submit to the song selection list.  Do you really think a beginner should be selecting songs?  .I think you are joking saying you want me to add songs to the list.

@ "Who wants to find a possibility, who does not want to find reasons" I have no idea what you are saying :)

Highlighting issues with songs is one thing, if they have a problem like a bad tone or a bad tab or have no riff repeater no bass or if they are done wrong then that is fine and when this happens the songs get changed without any problem, but your "issue" involved none of that it involved your preference for the songs. As you can see as others have posted they like the idea of having officially included songs available to play for the competition and it is only you who does not like this idea.

The idea of the song selection list is to play songs that we would like to learn it doesn't matter the difficulty. I still have no idea what songs should go in what difficulty as difficulty is in the eye of the beholder. What may seem easy for me may be hard for you and what may seem hard for me may be simple to someone else so no one person can determine what difficulty a song should go in. It takes a collaborative effort by everyone working together. This is why I made the thread about the song selection list and asked for help with adding songs to it. So that it would help people when selecting songs. However if you try a song CDLC or Originally released content that isn't in the competition and feel like you want to try and learn it, a great way to do that is to add it to the song selection list. This is what most people do and its what I do as well. I mentioned you twice because I was talking with you but I did not attack you in any way. I mentioned what was obvious from your posting and what I am sure others have thought as well. You are asking for songs to be changed because as you so eloquently put it "if I wanted to play them I would have already played them" which is not a valid reason. I think I am extremely fair with this competition and as for it being the song I chose that we had to change hey I don't care this isn't about me and what I like its about what everyone is here for, to learn.

@@Collision please know that I have nothing against you I merely have a problem with the way you are asking for things to be done... I hope you continue to participate and as I have already said I was not trying to attack you I was merely pointing out my observation of your weekly posting. This is the last I will talk about this so you have a choice you may either accept my apology and move on and continue to be a part of the competition or not. That choice is up to you. I truly hope you choose the former of the two as I would love to keep seeing you improve.

And I believe what @ is trying to say is "He who wants to succeed finds a way, he who does not finds excuses"

  3. That is your choice @@Collision i said nothing which was meant to offend you or as a personal attack but if you took offense then i am sorry. However i stand by my post. I am trying to be as fair as possible to everyone. You will be missed in the competition as i enjoyed watching you improve and please know that you are always welcome to participate.

  4. Not everyone finds these songs uninteresting as you do. I actually enjoy a lot of the originally included songs as do the members of this forum who chose these songs for the championship. You do not have to play them if you do not like them and are free to play whatever you prefer. The rules state what songs are allowed and what are not allowed and yet It seems like every week there is something you have to complain about... Maybe if you put your name in the spreadsheet and selected the songs you like they might get chosen but since you have yet to add your name to the spreadsheet or choose a song you should not complain as to what gets chosen for the competition. This championship is for EVERYONE not just you @@Collision, not everyone feels the same way as you. If others felt the same way I am sure they would post it as they are welcome to yet I only see you complaining about the songs... I hope that you continue to participate but the songs will not be changed because only ONE person wants them to be. This is a friendly competition which has been running since smithy anvil started them and thats where the 31 weeks comes from. This is here for us all to have fun and compete against each other and see others develop their guitar/bass skills. Complaining every week will not help with your guitar playing.

For everyone else I hope this post doesn't offend anyone but you all must realize that I do this out of the pleasure I get from watching you all participate every week and seeing you all improve on a weekly basis. @@Collision you have been improving these recent weeks and I am happy to see that and I know that you will continue to improve whether you continue to join the competition or not. I try to keep these championships fun and entertaining for everyone but I cannot and will not cater to ONE persons wishes. Everyone has a say in this competition I am just the one who puts up the posts and helps with the spreadsheets. I did not start the competition but I will continue to help out with it as much as I can. Thankfully @ has volunteered his time to help with it and that is greatly appreciated. I just want everyone to have fun and enjoy the championships so if we say/do something that you all don't like please feel free to let us all know. I can't make everyone happy and thats not what I am trying to do I am just trying to help as many people as I can enjoy themselves while they are here without having to worry about the little details like I and the rest of the organizers do.

  5. @@Collision I am sorry you feel that way but if you take a look at the competition over these last 31 weeks that it has been running this is the first time that an officially included song has been chosen. Not everyone will enjoy the songs that are chosen each week but these were selected from the Spreadsheet as they were selected by members of the championship. These songs are picked randomly and are not cherry picked each week. For the first time we have 2 songs chosen that were included with the game and this is because our participators selected them.

  6. The Trooper is actually one of the easier Maiden songs. The Solo is tough but its definitely doable. My score from today is just after playing it a few times. I had played it 3 times before but it was months ago and had scored around 75% and today after trying it a few more times I was able to put up this score, I haven't Riff Repeated any of it either, its just playing it on the fly. I should also definitely be able to improve on these songs if time permits.

  8. You have to use the toolkit to remove the DD from them its not that difficult. Just download the toolkit and run it and then click the DDC tab and select the remove DD option in the drop down list and select overwrite file then choose the DLC you want to remove the DD from and click the remove DD button.

  9. Please look at the song selection list spreadsheet as I have removed the songs that were entered that do not qualify to be chosen. Please update your selections while adhering to the Rules of the customs selection process. If a song is not available on this site or its an OFFICIAL DLC it has been removed from the spreadsheet. The songs that remain have had the links added to them for easy access. I have also sorted the list alphabetically to make it easier to find your name and have removed the duplicate names of people who had added their names more than once.

  10. So as the topic suggests this thread will be about how to get the best out of your guitar playing experience while using Rocksmith 2014. Rocksmith has a number of tunings that are available for many songs especially with all the customs out there. However unless you have the appropriate strings on your guitar you may experience a lot of note recognition problems.

I was going to write a long out post but instead I found mostly what I was looking for with a google search. This Link  in detail (and much better than I would be able to) how to take care of your strings and how to choose which strings are best for you.

For Rocksmith if you tend to play songs in low tunings you will most likely be forced to change your strings to a heavier gauge string because of the recognition issues. Tunings like Drop D and C Standard or D Standard will cause you many recognition problems if you are using standard .09 - .46 gauge strings. For these tunings it is recommended that you use either .10(.11) - .52(.56) or heavier gauge strings. The following links which were provided by @ are great videos with explanations on how to setup a guitar. Everyone should watch them and read the article I linked as it has some great information available.
