    Anyone formed a band after learning with RS?

    Hi...I just saw this post, but here is my story:

     

    7 years ago, I had like 15 guitar lessons. Loved it! Although the lessons were helpful for the basics, I really start learning songs from RS1. At one point I mastered a couple of songs and talked about it with a friend who was drummer. He knew a guy who can sing, so a little band was born...

    But...we missed a bass player. So I bought a bass guitar and learn myself playing bass with RS1. But then we missed a guitar player. We knew a guy who could play a little. So he was introduced in the band. We played for a few months, but in the end the guitar player was not good enough. And with that the band ended...

     

    For me it just started, I wanted a new band and looked for some applications on the internet. I played RS like every day and learned a lot, also watching youtube lessons etc. 

    Without any bass guitar lessons, I joined a band. It was a high level band, so I was the least experienced guy. I learned a lot of being in a band. Counting, timing, listening to other members, improvising. Using RS and being in a band was for me the best combination to learn proper bass and making music. 

     

    Unfortunately the band broke up, before we had any gigs. And having a gig was for me the ultimate goal!

    Searching for another band...Last year I joined my current band. Within a few months we had our first gig (covers only), and my first gig ever! It was awesome to play for an audience! I am sure I couldn't manage without using RS. We had several gigs (up to 350+ persons), and some gigs are planned. 

     

    Being in a band will force you to play the same song over and over again. To really master it and remember it playing live is difficult. Sometimes you want to play another song, but you cant, cause you have a rehearsal with the band the next day. But it really pays off...Making music is awesome! RockSmith is awesome!

    it seems Dropbox is stopping the public files for basic users. This could have an impact for our CDLC. At least for me, I need to create new links.

    Hi Kino,

     

    again, thanks for your customs...

    It's a bit quiet here at the moment, but I have done my work tbh...

    Not sure if Ciffy is still around here, but in the meantime you probably can do 'his' work. Different People is WIP, but again you can do this song as this is quite a long time WIP.

     

    Try to import my/our tones in the ToolKit and check your custom. I have used mostly the same tone for every Biffy custom and they sound pretty good. Did you download our Biffy customs?

    Still jealous about the gigs...WOW! I have seen them 6 months ago, but waiting for a new tour already!

    Hey buddy!

    Nice to hear from you again! 

    Doing great here ;) but busy...Busy with work, doing some jobinterviews as well and...I started a new band! I was in a band before but the guitarist and vocalist were not that motivated. So the drummer and I searched for new band. We need a vocalist still, but the new guitarist is awesome. I voted for a Biffy-song to practice! ;)

     

    No time to make customs, but I have so many customs there is almost no need for additional ;) And off course practicing is important too instead of making customs :p

     

    Im curious about the gigs that are coming of Biffy! A bit jalous as well ;)

     

    No new gear for Xmas unfortunately. But if my new band is progressing I will buy a new bass soon.

    The Simon Neil strat is good choice! Not too expensive but great guitar!
    If I will buy a new guitar, I will choose a one and set it up for low tunings. 

     

    I hope ciffy is back soon with some new customs, though! ;)

    Cool, you re planning to do some customs as well!

     

    Difficult? Well, the first 2/3 maybe, but it all depends on the gp files you have. If you have high quality tabs, the most difficult part is still the timing. If your timings are good, you only have to do the tones(switch), RR and vocals.

    But it can take a while to set the timings.

    If you need to chart the notes yourself, yeah thats difficult ;)

    Yeah,  been a while...! Did some Avenged Sevenfold customs and now little time to make customs.

     

    Actually we need only Blackened Sky album, but I thought Ciffy would do that album, and dont wanna 'steal' his project. I think he moved now, so probably he will be online soon.

    The songs who are missing: I couldnt find descent tabs for it so not in the planning.

    Biffy have a lot of good bass songs. I enjoy the bass very much. Guitar is fun too off course! So good luck with the bass!

    Do you play Guitar or Bass? 

    We have 1 album left to do. I could do those as well, but I dont wanna be 'stealing' Ciffy's projects. Lets see what happens...

    Thanks buddy...

    i only need to add vocals for all, and some final tweakings. (I need a guitar/bass for that, so not able to do that right now).
    Also I need to check the tones, as these songs uses different tones, I guess...

     

    I created When the faction's fractioned as well, except for vocals...
