  1. I think @@Nacholede is going to chart tribute again @@MaZtoR, whether the part you're finding problematic will be addressed, I am unsure but once it's done give it another go, I am really pleased we have tribute it's one of my favourites but waiting for the new chart before attempting it again as I found the bass line a little off. It's a song that has to be sung with unbridled gusto :D really happy with the choices this week, especially sultans of swing. Well done Rock pickers :)

  2. Can totally relate to your struggle @@MilkmanDan. I'm still not happy with my ability to play the song, my fingers are stiff looking all the way through and stamina and timing going off here there and everywhere is still a big issue. I've not put any effort into practicing the DT track, despite it being one of my choices but it serves me right for choosing a song I like to listen to but I'd never actually played it :) Hope you do get a chance to repost a good score though MmD, for me though, I'm off out to see Guardians of the Galaxy so no more posts for this weeks challenge for me!

  3. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=309950237 Bit more improvement. Riff repeating a fair amount for practice to memorise the sections but to get the pace I'm finding I'm improving by playing the full song through repeatedly rather than practicing it slowly and speeding up. fret hand stamina is getting better too... might need to start wearing a sweatband though, embrace the Dire Straits :)

  4. For me I'm more likely to 100% DT in Hard mode due to the slow pace of the song, but I'd struggle getting to 100 with WZ due to the pace, though I agree with @@Tonedef, it's a style I prefer to play. Committing WZ to memory I'd have no problem with because of it's repetitive nature but committing DT to memory would take me a lot longer than a week. Tonedef hit the nail on the head, with his comment "They are both equally hard but for different reason." a very valid point indeed.

  5. I'm forcing myself to use a pick! I am doing ok at 85% speed. I might push it to 90% but when it's upped to 95%, my motor skills up and leave me altogether :D . I don't know why exactly I'm not aufait with a pick, I have friends who are complete pick snobs and refuse to acknowledge that some songs just sound better with a pick (I digress, I am NOT one of those snobs, I envy bassists who can pick!) It's a fucking skill to master. I tip my hat to those who can use picks, because it's fecking hard!  Strangely, I have no bother with a pick and a classical or acoustic guitar... I think it's the distance between strings that throws me... It's like stumbling off the bottom step because Im thinking I've hit the ground :D

  6. Aye @, the fret hand is what I am suffering with too, I could probably do with some picking practice, but I am a plucker by nature, using a pick for me just feels weird. I will probably try @@MilkmanDan's suggestion just to learn how to pick :) I have just been trying to relax more when playing and apply less pressure, that's having a considerable amount of effect... Fret hand positioning, and changing the level of where the bass is on my body has helped too. This has definitely brought to light some bad habits I have picked up when it comes to proper technique but I have found a lot of stuff on various sites and you tube videos that , for once, don't give conflicting advice!

  7. I can probably be of use and collaborate with @@MilkmanDan to help with bass path difficulty distinction. Whether it be just to be back up if he's absent or to help with decision making on any bass tracks that are difficult to decide on where they belong. If two heads are in agreement it might make the choosing of the tracks placement in the b,I,m a little more accurate. Happy to lend a hand if needed :)

  8. I agree, the tones for the bass are very crackly for me too.

Bass line to White zombie is a fast one but doable... I'd say for the bassists this is more intermediate and the Blink182 track is more beginner... that said the chords threw me but they're not particularly complicated or shifty to be practiced to a decent standard. The Dream Theater bass line is slow paced but all over the neck so it could be a 100%er for a fair few folk in any class depending on how much time individuals have to practice. It's a week which is very good example of the class difficulty distinctions between the instrument paths.

Anyhoo... my scores for first try's:

  9. I think Mustaine synched the best vocally on the Youthinasia and Rust in peace albums, not a big fan of Countdown because it was "popular" and everyone was playing Megadeth for the first time on there stereo's when I was a diehard fan. So a little bias.

Five Magics and Tornado of Souls are my favorites though.

    Sorry Noony, misinterpreted your comment.

    No worries :)

Despite Countdown being more commercial than previous albums, it brings back a lot of good memories for me, Symphony of Destruction still has one of the greatest hooks ever written imo. That said though, So Far, So good... So What? was my favourite album vocal-wise. Their cover of Anarchy in the UK is Bob-on, and In My Darkest Hour is too... and Liar is hilarious :)

  10. Speaking from the bass player perspective (well, my perspective at least) I think Angry Again is a great intermediate choice. I love the runs up the neck and it's improving my dexterity playing it so I'm concentrating the practice on that one mostly this week. I want to play it on master mode but to get to that stage it usually takes me a good few weeks, if I 100% it by the end of the week though I'll be happy plank spanker.
