  1. What do you think, are there some genres neglected?  There seems to be a lot of metal (of various sub-genres), punk (mostly non-70s stuff) and general/classic rock but not much love for these:

blues; rockabilly/psychobilly; country; indie; original 50s rock and roll...

Definitely not a moan as the CDLC output is phenomenal (and I could learn to create some myself) but if there are any talented CDLCers out there maybe this thread could point them towards where people think are gaps?

On a similar note is there anywhere to log request for songs on the site?

but ask me on another day and there could be 5 alternative choices (The Clash would still be number one though!)

Track that got me into The Clash was probably Police & Thieves from the debut album.

  2. I started listening to punk (the original punk), got into metal, then indie.  I have since added a lot of blues and some jazz and country.  So I 'd say I listen to just about anything that I feel is real music and not just something shoved together in a studio to placate people who cannot be bothered listening to anything of any substance. So most of the stuff in our charts in the UK I would pass on.  I don't care if it is from the 30s or recorded in the last week or what the genre is.  My friends call me a music fascist but I just think I have good taste ;-)

  3. Here's some of what I've been using:

Songsterr for tabs on the Mac and iPad.

Garageband on the Mac (the last Mac update made it a really useable application with great features and results: bit of a Logic Pro-Lite) & iPad/iPhone, and there is free controller for the Mac version on the iPad called Logic Remote

Amplitude (there are a number of add ons [Hendrix/Slash/Marshall] and a good recorder) for iPad/iphone

    Ampkit for iPad

Jamup (and Bias amp modeller) are probably the best sounding amp/effects simulator on the iPad/iphone

Fasttune HT6 is a good polyphonic tuner on the iPhone/iPad

I tried Riffstation and few similar products but didn't have great results... but that might just be me

  4. So I know that listening to individual tracks rather than albums is in vogue nowadays but I'm traditional (or old as my kids would say) and like to listen to whole albums.  What is your favourite album of all-time?

I'll start the ball rolling, mine is London Calling by The Clash...

    Cheers

  5. I would love to have this one also. On a mac we have no access to any of the 2012 songs which is crap .. that being said, due to legal restrictions we can not have links to any official DLC regardless of when it was created or what kind of access it has.

Not strictly true. You can purchase Rocksmith 12 via steam (even though you cannot open it on a Mac) you can then purchase the 2012 tracks for $15 I think...

Not sure if BMW is one of the tracks but you do get most of those that were on RS12.

    Regards

  6. My favourite, the one I always go back to, is my Fender Classic Player Baja.  It was designed by some guy in the Fender custom shop and is basically a 50s Tele with soft "V"-shaped neck with 21 medium jumbo frets, custom vintage-style Broadcaster bridge pickup and custom Twisted Tele neck pickup.  The difference between the 50s spec is the four-way pickup switch and S-1switch which allows 6 combinations of the two pickup (with series and parallel when you combine neck and bridge plus out of phase for both of those combos).  Got it in blond second hand in mint condition, it has those classic good looks, is built like a tank and you can play any style of music on it...

  7. Not been using CDLC long (about a week in fact) so bit of a shock to find no longer on SA but thanks for picking up the baton.

And you don't need to use BBCode on here either, which is a bonus!
