I just bought GPA, but when I try to export, the only options I have are text and PDF. Am I missing something?
Edit: My mistake I was trying to export from inside the tab rather than the library.
Edit 2: OMFG...the best $20 I ever spent! The hours it will save me when I'm on my death bed wishing I hadn't charted so many songs! :)

Perfect, thanks for all the help!
I will give it a try tonight, and report back if it blows up in my face. ;)

Hi Alex!
Thanks for your help via PM. To bring the topic back into the thread (for the folks who may have the same issue and find this thread in the future), you explained that UTF-8 would also work actually, and that the problem with my file was that I had overlapping lyrics/lines.
In cases like this, where there are background vocals/harmonies that have different lyrics than the main vocal, do we just omit them completely? I saw there was a harmony section in EoF (something about Beatles Rock Band?) but is that only for when all vocalists are singing the same words but different notes?
Also, since EoF expects there to be a melody to go with the lyrics, for the purposes of Rocksmith, can you just use one (or any random) note for all the lyrics? Since the Help file in EoF rarely gives specific cases for Rocksmith, I wasn't sure what to do about that.

Yeah, I'm still getting "Invalid Lyric File" even if I save it as UTF-7 and karaoke template.
-
Oh, ok! Thanks again!
Also, I didn't really understand how the karaoke template worked when I was messing with it the other day, cos none of the songs I've done have been in karaoke style, so I may be back with more questions! :D
-
OK, so if I choose UTF-7 and the karaoke template, it should work? Thanks!
Off topic, but do you have any idea why pop up messages wouldn't work for me in RS2014? I set the duration to 2000ms, and the message was "They might be strumming". I was really just playing around, but I wanted to check in case I really need it at some point.
-
I don't know what encoding I used, so I will check tonight when I get home. When I did it, I only timed whole lines, and not words and syllables, because I just wanted to see if it worked at all. Could that have been a factor, or more likely just the encoding issue?
Thanks for checking into it, and I'm glad I could bring the program to your attention!
I subtitled all these videos using it: http://www.jpopsuki.tv/search?module=search&action=index&title=maximum+the+hormone&type=all&categoriesopt=0&page=2&page=1
This is my favorite of them all: http://www.jpopsuki.tv/video/Maximum-the-Hormone---Buiikikaesu%2521%2521-%2528Eng-sub%2529/199e9a2d3a0cec2632b2272e6c1f9c44

Hi all!
I've recently tried import lyrics from an existing file, and I always get "No Lyrics Found" or a message about the file being invalid.
I saw that EoF accepts srt subtitle files, so I tried to use Aegisub (a subtitling program I have extensive experience with) and sub a couple lines to see if it worked. The program exports srt files, but EoF won't accept them.
Is there something obvious I might be missing?

I also have a JS model Ibanez with an original Edge, and zero tuning issues.
I recently put Gotoh Magnum Lock tuners on my wife's Ibanez SA160, and it was just about the best upgrade ever. Her guitar doesn't having a locking nut, naturally. The tuners (model SG381) are nearly indistinguishable from regular tuners, except the posts pop down into the headstock when it locks. Tuning is completely normal, with no extra steps required for the tuners. They're also a drop-in replacement in Ibanez (or likely any) guitars with Gotoh-style tuners, no drilling required.
I also lubricated her nut with Master Lock lock lubricant, which is basically Teflon oil, which ensures the strings don't bind in the nut. Anyplace the strings bind or making pinging sounds (try divebombing without actually playing any notes and listen for it) you're going to have tuning issues. The stuff is $5 from amazon and they give you such a big tube, it'll last the rest of your life.
This is perfect for Rocksmith, because of all the retuning required. I'm not detuning my quitar to drop D and messing up the trem angle, so I just play hers on songs like that.

Was just wondering if it would be possible on the CDLC submit form to have at least 2 slots for playthrough videos (or one for each available instrument besides vocals), that way if somebody does one for bass and I do one for guitar (for example) I don't have to choose between the 2?
Just an idea!
Also, are you ONLY allowed to use the specified hosts for video discussions? I ask cos I have videos that would surely get nuked from youtube, but I can put on my Dailymotion acct. I haven't made a Vimeo yet cos I may actually make legit original videos at some point, and I don't wanna get kicked off there for potential infringement. It just seemed strange that some of the crappier hosts (Veoh, etc) aren't options.

I ended up going back into EoF and saving again, and then it magically worked. Thanks for trying!
-
I was having an issue earlier where the toolkit was crashing while trying to generate psarc file for this song, but it would generate a file with a working guitar part. I downloaded the new version and now it generates, but the bass part works on the guitar part doesn't.
I didn't do anything differently than usual and I've tried regenerating a bunch of times in case it was a one time fluke like happens on occasion.
I can upload the project file, but this forum won't let me copy and paste into posts (though it works on CDLC submission form)
Oh and the song is Honey....it's up in the cdlc section now cos I thought it was working.
-
Thanks guys. I was hoping I could just drag the measure markers somehow since they're the only thing that's off. Bummer, lol.
-
I just sorta jumped into custom creation with both feet, and extensive experience authoring customs in another rhythm game (DTXMania).....but I'm still not sure I'm doing it right exactly (though I have been heeding Chilli's sig advice!).
When I start a custom, what I've been doing is starting a new project, finding the BMP, and then I'll play the track with metrognome. If the beats don't line up with the clicks I'll take the very first line and move it around until the clicks and the beats sound synced up.
Once I do this, I import the GP file, and with grid snap set to 1/8, I'll just slide the whole group of notes around until they line up with where they should be in the audio track. Due to song intros and things like that, this results in the song basically never starting on the first beat of the measure. The song plays fine, but anybody who is musically trained might find playing my customs annoying if they pay attention to that sort of thing. I also imagine it could have a negative effect on DDC.
So my question is.....how do I move the measure, or the audio track itself, so that everything lines up right? I don't like adjusting individual measures because it throws the BPM off for the rest of the song, and nearly everything I've worked on stays at a locked tempo and doesn't need adjusting, so the last thing I wanna do is mess with the BPM. I just wanna align everything correctly.
I've tried messing with the offset, but it doesn't seem to do what I think it did.
Also, is it possible to go back and fix the songs I've already done without jumping through too many hoops?
-
I didn't even know that was a thing! I bet that's part of the problem with mine too!
-
So then I only need to create the sections? Yes/No?
Also, I did see that page and it's pretty awesome as far as explaining it.....but then again I thought I understood it the past 2 or 3 times I read an explanation, and this time I wanted to remove all doubt.
Thanks for everything! :D
-
Hypothetically, if I created a song with only sections and no phrases, would DDC:
- Create phrases within the sections? If so:
- Would it match the similar phrases together so that maxing one would max the other automatically?
-
Is there a guide somewhere on how to properly do sections and phrases? I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who finds it confusing and makes messed up CDLC as a result.
Assuming one is going to do the DDC generator thing, could you please explain the best way to do it? I've had some confusion over which is which between phrases and sections, so I've just been putting a phrase and a section together every time (in pairs).
I really want to do it right.
-
Oh it's fine! It's really just a tone control when you think about it. I never actually tried playing a chart with it though, I was just playing that Hendrix song (Voodoo Chili?) on the menu screen, but nothing exploded. ;)
-
Meh, I can see the appeal, but at least a quarter of the fun is not having to do a pedal dance or mess around with amps......plus have all those tones tailor made for the track....especially on songs that switch around a lot.
The closest I've gotten to "keepin' it real" is hooking up my wah wah pedal with the real tone cable, because that's the one thing RS can't truly approximate.
(I should note that half the time I've always played my electrics unplugged, so my opinion is coming from a very lazy perspective)
-
Did this ever get worked out? I'm having my own issues with phrases and sections, so I was researching around the site and found this thread interesting.
-
I went back and tried the file and it 's fine.....it was Riff Repeater screwing me up. I realized that as I hit 0 to advance to the end (so RR would play the whole song) it was decreasing the difficulty slightly every time I hit 0. Once I saw that and set it back to 100 it was fine.As for the copy paste thing, I thought it might be some kinda restriction on new members......pretty sure I've tried it in both FF and IE.Sorry for the false alarm! :)
Edit: still can't copy paste though....tried compatibility mode even. Maybe it's cos I'm on IE 11.

I tossed in $5 today! :)
Haven't been here long but I like it a lot!
Songs made that need better tones

For Finest Worksong, I recommend the clean tone from La Sara's Love That's Gone (forgive me if I didn't get that title exactly right). Sounds like it's got a bit of chorus and reverb on it, should be perfect for the finest hoooooouuuurrrrrr (ironically, I realized after making that joke, that the "finest hour" part is basically the only part that's NOT clean. Oh well, I meant for all the parts that aren't that).
I'm gonna do some REM soon. Finest Worksong is a funny choice, especially since it's basically 1 chord through the entire song, IIRC (except choruses).
