"I don't have / can't see any of those windows features"  that is probably because you have Win8.1.  The instructions I posted are for Win10 users.  Try this.

 

Uninstall the existing CFSM application.  Just mouse over its tile, right-click, and then choose Uninstall from the options toolbar that appears at the bottom of the screen.   Then install new CFSM Beta from link above.

If you still are having trouble under Win8.1  then try this.

 

 Press Windows + R keys to open Run command.  

   Type Appwiz.cpl and select "turn Windows feature on or off" from the left

   Uncheck .Net framework 3.5 through .Net framework 4.6 advance series

   Restart the computer

   Repeat step 1 and 2 and recheck  .Net framework 3.5 through .Net framework 4.6 advance series.

   Restart the computer.

Sorry if I'm missing something obvious :/

This occurs during installation.

I get a dialogue box that says the programme must be updated in the installer which is followed by the installer not responding and this error message.

I'm using windows 8.1 and there is some info in this picture
