  1. Hey there everyone, :) I have picked up Rocksmith 2014 almost two years, and since day one it got me frustrated but i kept myself trying to push to play guitar but it never got along. The problem i see is with the song collection in Rocksmith 2014 it seems that it goes from simple powerchords songs to complex songs in no time. And im still a beginner and dont know how to play guitar. The motivation is there but not the knowlegde. I love to listen to Hard rock and Metal and just want to learn the songs that my favorite bands play. My question is, Is there any like list of songs that start out for beginners and gradully get more complex, like a learning guide ? I fo…

Hi - aspiring bassist here. I like inverted strings better in RS. I guess it is closer to Tab for me. I'm curious what other people think and pros/cons for using inverted strings. TIA, Bod

  3. Hi everyone here I present some little lead exercises for guitar. The music and tabs are taken from the Jammmz site. This site provides some really nice exercises with mp3 as normal tracks and without the specific instrument as playback. In this little workshop I make cdlcs with some of them. The tracks are very short and focused on particular techniques. I'll offer them as 2 piece packs with the example track with all instruments and a playback track without guitar. enjoy and raise your skills!

Hey guys. Long time no speak! I've been a member here since the very first day, coming over from the old place to here as soon as it was announced. For various reasons, I've been gone for the best part of two years, but I'd like to become more active again. Anyway, I'm here for some advice. I've been playing the guitar on and off for years now, never getting very far, putting it down for months, picking it back up and starting from scratch. The cycle continues. I'm now giving it one more, possibly final shot, at getting decent and I've encountered some trouble. When I play, my left hand, or more specifically the wrist, starts to hurt. It's a dull ache initially, …

How do you guys go about learning new songs? Like the majority of the time id just sit there and keep repeating the same song, Play it for around an hour a day each day until it sticks to my head, While also slowing down some songs that are pretty difficult and going up speeds as i can play it. But how do you guys learn songs?

I'm just starting out. i always wanted to play a guitar but never found the time. I'm now near 70, retired and fully out of excuses.... at least that what my youngest son tells me (He's in his mid 40's) Is anyone out there working on stuff from "the old folks era?" my son tells me he will come over and help me get started on my Rocksmith program set up... however that may be some time from now... Are there any forums and download song training lists from the "Olden Days" thanks for the reply in advance. PappyBear

Hey Guys first of all, I want to thank all the members who create all this awesome DLCs. So here is my story / problem I started playing guitar when I was 12 (now 29) and had an on/off relationship with it, took lessons and learned the basics. Then I got to the army, university and a job, a wife and so on (you get me :D ) And my extremly bad built strat was more an icon of my youth.. Until last year, when I got Rocksmith for the PS3 and my love for my guitar came back. I quickly "relearned" all the things I had in guitar lessons, took all the basic stuff and lessons from rocksmith and a 10 weeks online course from a teacher I followed on youtube (which was aweso…

  11. So out of the 4 or 5 lessons I did take in the beginning, I was first taught how to hold a power chord. Unfortunately it was pointer finger with loads of stress on the ring finger. I am not talking the typical 2 string power chords but the 3 string ones. Its a very bad habit and although I do know how to play using my pinky it is often harder albeit clearer sounding. (i have boxers fractures on both pinkies, left and right..one was a stop sign and the the other was a dudes jaw. That's a story for the campfire LOL) Is there a song where I can "train my fingers for battle" per say? (lots of 3 string power chords)

  12. jamtrackcentral.com is a website that not only offers jam tracks but also lead guitar recordings by an expanding roster of high profile guitarists. A lot of the material seems to be improvised by the players on the spot but there's certainly a few artists who also prepare some building blocks before actually recording their material. Either way, these tracks are a great opportunity to learn from fantastic guitar players around the world and to improve your lead guitar playing and soloing skills. Most of the material is suited for intermediate to advanced players but a handful of artists also offer tracks for novices. This thread will be a place to collect all tracks on …

  14. Hello! Several years ago I was into Rocksmith a lot, but I was mostly using a friends bass guitar. I've played both guitar and bass quite a fair amount when I was playing on Rocksmith, but haven't in several years because I've not had an instrument to play with. However, I really want to get into it again and want to pick up a new bass guitar, but I've no idea where to start or how much to spend. In terms of budget, I think I'm going to look between £150-250, obviously pushing the higher end of budget if it will give me more bang for my buck. I consider the one I borrow from my friend my "first" bass, so I think of this one as the next one I would have bought that…

So, Iron Maiden The Trooper, no idea why but I seem to have atleast 90% on it. But I still feel as though I am not fast enough for the triplets. I use a 3 finger technique to do it but what would you guys suggest to improve my skills? Is there a kind of CDLC or something I can download that will just focus on practicing triplets?

Not sure where this should go...but...sorry if it's in the wrong spot and sorry if it's a noob question. So I know how to change my strings, I do it often, as I play quite a bit. I've only ever removed the strings one by one, as pressure needs to be maintained on the neck. For some reason I always have thought that this is the appropriate and safest way to change them... however... I want to give the fretboard a good cleaning...is it SAFE to take all my strings off at once? I've got a Paul Reed Smith. What do you guys do? I've watched various youtube vids, and they vary...but I don't want my neck to warp or do any damage to my baby...

  19. Hey guitarists, Does anyone else 'tuck' their pinky in on their fretting hand...When I do barre chords or need my pinky it comes up and works just fine, I can do bends with it, but I feel I have no control over my pinky on my fretting hand. Like it's the least 'worked out' or adept finger on my hand. How do I reverse this habit/ problem as I took a video of myself playing and it looks very awkward, it also makes my hand tense. I want my pinky to just chill and be a bit more useful like the rest of my fingers. Are there exercises to help incorporate my pinky more? Does anyone else have this problem/habit? How would you suggest I fix this? I try to be conscious of it w…

  20. Hi ppl. As many of you I use Rocksmith to have fun with my guitar by learning custom songs. I'm a total beginner in the guitar world. As I progressed I wanted to learn some songs that weren't custom made here because not many people listen to this band, so I looked for tabs, and now I need your help. I need to replicate this guitar sound, but I really know nothing about guitar effects. Can anyone with some guitar/rocksmith knowledge/ear give me a screenshot how to setup this? Links to some of the band music on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXkib8qr-y8 Oh yeah, If you are in this stoner sounds, check this band out, It is my favorite. Thnx!

So I've been stuck on a lesson. Power chords. My index and ring finger don't like being stretched apart. So what I've been doing is going through the past lessons and hitting power chords for a little and then going to play some songs since its fun . My question is how do you do the power chords? The lesson teaches you a couple and then when you do the song it adds two different ones that I've never seen! THe learning curve it seems is going up quick! Second, I want some different songs to play like some radiohead or pink floyd and was going to get some from here. My thing is will it still be adapted to my beginner level or are all of the notes on from the get go?…

  22. Hi , this is a kind of a workshop , I would say. Where brains gather together and discuss the electric feel of groove , and maybe the groovy soul from the inside. . The purpose is that we together make a whole picture of the feeling of groove. For this task is , to me, extremly hard to do with words. Because words , in my opinion, dont cover the whole picture of what I feel inside when I feel the groove. And therefore the word does not correspond with the my reality (feelings) . So please take part in this discussion and bring to light the complexity of feelings happening when the groove is alive inside. Table of Contents: 1. Rules 2.Background 3. More a…

  24. Okay, so I've been playing guitar/bass for 6 mos or so with the help of this amazing piece of software. Absolutely love it!! I can play along to many of my favorite songs, and learning them is a breeze. It feels like all is right with the rock and roll world!! Until a buddy comes over and wants to jam... I take a look at tabs and want to scream, they're upside down!!! And how do you know how long to hold notes for? And then what the heck is this business with a drummer?? People actually play drums in real life??? And they expect you to sync with them instead of the red and yellow buttons? AAAAHHH!!! Okay, lots of people have learned with this program. My question …

Hi, Dumb question for everyone. I am realtively new to bass guitar, and play (almost) exclusively via rocksmith on my laptop, with earphones. I have a pretty entry level bass guitar. I'm thinking of upgrading my guitar, but wonder if it will even make a difference? I know a lot of time a higher quality guitar will give you better / different tone, warmer sound, etc. But since I mainly only use rocksmith, with the tone processing already built in, would it even make any difference in playing, or does the quality of the bass almost become irrelevant, since the tones and sounds are already being completely processed by rocksmith? I guess the question is - is it woth it to up…
