🤘🏻🤘🏻How y’all making these so fast all of a sudden??

You bust out the new keyboard?

Only night I can play this week, Tradeshow in Sin City ( I don't like it there, too many people, too much noise, always for work)  Anyways - hope everyone has great 600 and thanks to all those who put so much into this community.

The lead part is against me, seems like it detects early if you hold a note for too long, so you get dinged for a miss when there is open space, weird.  I did better when i played very staccato.

?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false  ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false

This song is a groove - Got close to our Brother from the Mother Russia on Lead, but I think I snuck past on the Rhythm - temporarily I am sure.
?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false  ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false

This is the song that got me into Lenny, tough to play with all the feel of Slash or Lenny, you think you are in the groove, then you score says otherwise.  Solo is the real killer for me on this one.
?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false  ?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false

Until next week.

Groovy! Is that your new bass already. The bass - only interpretation does sound soo cool aswell - nicely done. What a song!

Yeah, I got a 2nd hand mini midi keyboard with drum pads last week. But I still can't finger drum, so it was all on the SW 😅

The trickiest part was that the Rocksmith song was 169bpm most of the song, but there were a couple of bars or even parts of bars that were 169,59?bpm 🤯

Thanks! It was the same bass. The new one is a 5 string and I can only play it on songs that are slower 😅

A little better:

?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

I don't know why it sometimes doesn't recognize the open E string 😢

?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

I can almost do it at 80 % for a couple of bars 🤣

@ Rodman  i think in your original post the link to the Leader Board sheet is broken?

doesn't work for me at least while previous week link does.

That must have been the rabbit hiding things there at weekstart... should be working right again.

I spent another 8 hours or so on Wanted Man. Thx @ cacahuate51  for the input and also the bass extraction.
Bass is note per note original now - creating a basschart is such a cool training for the ears, i can recommend to anyone.

Lead and Rhythm have been reworked completely. All paths follow the original very closely.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO UPDATE TO VERSION 3.3

all scores remain valid of course.

Thanks for update!

Btw what are we supposed to do with the old files? delete them from the cdlc folder as simple as that?

First scores this week.

I just noticed @ Rodman  did a new version of this. I think he fixed what a few players mentioned here, it looks like there are some ghost notes in the chart, at the end of the notes with the extended streak we get a miss if we don't hit it again. I'll check the new version later, cool song for beginners.

WBxdP7Q.jpeg

Funny chart and not too tricky, the song is probably inspired by Money by Pink Floyd, as @ cacahuate51  mentioned somewhere.

Ok now my CDLC. A song I've heard on the radio many times, generally thought it was one of Lenny's most popular songs, I was a bit surprised to see that some other popular songs have 8x more listens lol. But this is a really good chart with a cool riff to play and a tough solo from Slash. Basically the entire Lead chart is pretty much played by Slash, Lenny is the Rhythm guitar path.

YKejZLN.jpeg

I didn't know this, difficult like most instrumental recordings.

@ Rodman  Here there is a similar problem with ghost notes, but in chords, we can even get several misses (for each string) if we don't hit the strings at the end of the streak.

Practiced it some more since daz showed it was possible!
Still way too fast for me. I can now do it comfortably at 96% in rr but that 4 % is still a challenge for me.

I think the app caught my A-Ha picture and put it on the Advanced Bass (Stevie Wonder). My score should be 93.9% and a streak of 119.

Thanks for working on the bass @ Rodman   didnt mean to get you to spend that much time on it, my bad. Im guilty of losing track of time on doing things aswell. I personally would've done some of the bass different but then again theres lots of ways to play the bass or guitar (aka the cdlc i did for money and all the paths are not really how its played).

Some small areas do still seem off though ? (not too much a big of a deal)  If I get time I'll try to offer some help since i think i could fix some of it and since you've already spent a lot of time on it / its probably not healthy to spend more on it. I'm pretty full with work though this week so Im not sure when that would be .

Nah! Time is there to be spent 😉

As i have limited my passive leisure time to practically 0 there is more space for things like that.

I wouldn't do it if it wasnt fun. New software is always a bit challenching but after a few files and hours i must say Charter is way beter than Eof was.

@ Mikson  Thx yes, stupid... that's the tied notes lasting over the bars end ... missed to delete the ghosts... will for sure.

Good week everyone! Lots of work to be done now. This Nita Strauss song is crazy, and the Lenny Kravitz grooves are so good!

I often spend way too much time creating CDLCs because something doesn't suit me, I correct details, I want the chart to be close to how musicians play so I watch live performances etc 😉
Making a CDLC for which there were no available tabs (if I understood what you wrote earlier correctly) is a great challenge and I congratulate you on having managed to do it to some extent. I always admire charters like Dell who can create charts by ear 👏
Coming back to your CDLC, I checked lead path in the new version and there are no more random misses on single notes, but I still got them in chords (those with a streak). I see that you mentioned that you started using this new program - Charter to create CDLCs, probably that's where the whole situation comes from, I wonder if this program is really better for creating CDLCs? I'm already used to EOF and I wonder if it's worth trying another one 🤔

Not sure if you use tabs or ear or both. What i do is use a free tool called uvr5 (there probably is a newer version out now) it isolates the stems which can make life on tabbing by ear a little bit more easier in certain areas. Its not 100% accurate/ sometimes it processes weird but usually it helps some when you are not sure.

I'll just get back to this. Did I understand correctly that this is some kind of tool that helps create tabs for songs? I've always wondered if there was such a thing, but I haven't looked into it too much, I also hope that the development of AI will allow it to create tablatures. Something like this would be very useful for creating charts of less popular songs, for which there are no good tablatures, if any at all 😉

From what the creator of charter has stated in the Charter discord and in Customsforge discord is that the import function of guitarpro to charter still needs work. I personally never use guitar pro and just have done everything in eof so i dont know if those same issues are present in eof or not. I will give charter a shot once i finish a project im working on. I remember using it last year and it was pretty good but had to redo some projects cause it crashed and all my progress got erased. I'm sure thats fixed by now though.

Also Charter was made cause eof no longer recieved updates however its creator is active again and doing updates soo I'm still unsure which one is "better".

It can help yea, but you still need to use your ear to transcribe what you hear. Itll just make seperate wav files for bass, vocals, drums and other (which tends to be guitar + any synth) . There's lots of free software online most of them use a credit system which im not a fan of. Thats why i use uvr5 cause its just something you download once and itll seperate unlimited stems for you. Theres also more expensive tools/ plugins like Rx8 by izotope that do something similar but the difference isnt that huge so why not just stick to the freebie.

Sometimes basses or any instrument are hidden in the mix so thats when i find it usefull as it helps me identify notes easier by ear since theres less guessing work ( aka its clearer if its bass rather than perhaps a  guitar) . Sometimes notes arent too clear though in seperation and are too muddy /underwatery but i find its the best thing if there are no live videos ( and even live videos sometimes are bad cause usually only the singer is in frame)

There are software that claims that can do wav file to transcription but from what ive tested they all seem pretty faulty. Technology doesnt seem to be there yet but i don't doubt it will be soon.

Yeah.... there was no guitar pro file oe even good tab whatsoever of that song, only fragments - there with wrong chords even.... tried to chart it for the first time like 8 years ago, now i can to some extent. Spending like 15 hours+ on it is ok for me cause the detailwork is quite a learning process for my ears and to get better in Charter. I was in EOF for 100-150 CDLCs, so quite some experience there, and now 3 in Charter - The workflow is not very different and you find your way around instantly but Charter is so much nicer to work on overall and better in many details - for example - you click a note and can just adjust a bend by dragging the tail in the detail window. Chord management ... yes - you get chord templates that you name and they are used for recurrences. Tone Change? - you just click in the spot you need a new tone, same is for handshapes, Also the structure of the arrangements is easier and clearer.

49521771pj.png

Guitar pro import works very good. And.... you ask a question in the discord and @ firekorn  or a coder is always there and replies instantly. I really recommend to try it.

The bass is quite hidden in the mix so seperation there is really really helpful. For tools that "create tabs" - oh i have been through those over the years to help me figure out solo parts... and the sad sad truth - all useless - worse than sitting down with the guitar and going note for note. Might change with the emerging AI abilities, but for now. Not to my knowledge that any will truely make life easier. Whats cool is those seperation thingies and  @ cacahuate51  - great you found a good free one - gonna use that from now.

Now quickly fixing that annoying ghostnote situation.

Rock,

Rod.
