SIDE CHALLENGE - Let´s COVER some [24]

Rules? No rules! We pick a song and everybody is invited to share his version. Songs shall be called every week, if you don´t manage to nail your version within the week - entrances are ALWAYS welcome. No winners, no losers, just fun and personal progress, a bit bringing in the harvest of the hard work we all do here every week by converting to own produced music, and (for me very important) learning (easy versions) of songs to be able to play them anytime when a guitar is in the room - and that shall be a part of thinking on the next song selection maybe.

So - as we had Beatles - And i Love Her last week  JUST GREAT, yay!!!! Everyone who has not finished his cover - just post whenever ready in the running week (yes, this one) so we all will recognise it.

Very nice week with Placebo and Sum 41.

Don't know how, but I ordered the songs in the wrong order and started with Alestorm thinking it was the easy one  🤦‍♂️  (should have been suspicious because of the tuning...) So that's how I ended up trying to play it without realizing it was 55 mins  🤣 and getting a brutal warm up

hadnt played this song in ages! forgot i submitted it.

yea the bass did seem pretty easy surprised i rated it a 2 ohwell

havent heard placebo since 2010s so it was nice to play their song. Has some cool synth grainy/reverby effect on the right ear

gave it a second go since i thought i could do better

yea some nostalgia hearing his voice again! Havent heard this new album/ep/single will give it a shot. Part of the solo reminded me of through the fire and the flames but maybe thats just me. will be hard to practice the solo since im not a solo guy

some cool parts here! who knows if ill give it another try though..my brain just wanders off when the songs are long.Chorus reminded me of if i could fly from helloween only cause of the lyrics ...mostly just cause of the word fly but whatever i like that song.

I've noticed that there's been some confusion in last week's scores. @ RaZrShReD  scores are incorrectly recognized by OCR, because he posted screenshots from a multiplayer game with @ zbb . OCR completely misreads the scores in such situations - participant who posting screenshoot is added to the table, but the leaderboard shows the score of his gamemate 🤨 (look in reactapp from no. 92 to 95). Should we disable multiplayer score recognition and enter them manually?

Of course, last week's scores need to be updated.

When you tell ChatGPT specifically that a score is a MP - it does flawlessly - did some testing there - in the bulk it´s a problem.

I've already entered these scores, because it was basically 4 screenshots with scores (I didn't check if everything was ok later, but I think it was, because no one added multiplayer scores anymore).

Things to change in the title post: Razshred got a higher score in MC lead than it was before and zbb should win beginner bass + bonus.

This song is very hard for me to read on lead so I have to overcome that to really say how hard it is to play

I would put this rhythm at 4.5 for me because it's fast with no breaks

Crazy difficult for me to keep up on bass, I don't think I deserve the 97%, 4 is a good rating

 

Nice score @ Vodka  I'm jealous

The low string on this D drop C tuning is pretty rough on my 4-string bass.  (For the Alestorm with the even lower C standard I was able to tune my 5-string up a half step and that worked great).  I'm experimenting with turning up the volume really loud and then playing really softly to avoid the string slapping the frets, anyone have any thought on this for the really loose tunings? Or does anyone have experience with drop pedals for bass?  I've heard they're ok  for guitar but not so great on bass.

Couple more Bass scores, nice songs really enjoyed Placebo Not a band I've listened to before.

I got 89% IN testing so happy with the score
Although I didn't notice then that the 6th fret 5th string In the 3rd phrase Is wrong

i think im not going to do good this week 😬 transitions are not easy to me and i dont play clean chords apparently so lots of mistakes. let s see how it goes by Saturday...

Little question @ Rodman  i tried the Shred Exercise 1 at 80 bpm but I while it's mostly ok, I think in position 7 I cannot reach the 3rd note with my pinkie. Am I supposed to slide? No way i will get fast enough at 160bpm... If I strech all I can I barely touch the fret of the note. Seems weird as I dont have especially small hands... Any tip?

Unrelated, but I don't have a teacher, cant afford one and would not have time anyway, I suspect the way i handle my pick is incorrect. At the moment my pick regularly touches the body of the guitar between the strings, it cant be right. I went to youtube and found 20 videos with contradicting advices. I saw a video where the guy says you need to fold you index against your hand and have your thumb and your index pointing opposite sides (180 degrees) so you can be fast. Any tip? can someone please 🙏 send me a single, simple video that I could trust to see what is a correct position I will use? (preferably a short one im reaaly streched on time always, so stressfull 😬 )

I swear you will beat me soon and get higher score (and make jealous me then). The song isn't really hard. But be aware of slides. They're insidious!

Absolutely. You don´t even need a video.

Pics will do it! Most probably it´s your fret hand position - mostly caused by the thumb placing.
What´s needed to shred is to 

put your thumb opposite your II finger or even finger III (if you need maximum stretch) on the 

same height as your fingertips. Yes when you change or skip strings your thumb will follow your fingertips in height. Yes your very fingertips should be pressing the strings against the frets, very lightly (you wanna be able to play for a long time).
