I have been participating in the Championship for a few years now. I don't post much scores anymore but I download the songs and play them every week. I have started to notice lately that when I play song a bit out of my league I can cheat the system and play to note recognition but its not clean. And I don't make it clean. Due to trying to make the best score in a week. So I took a step back and went through the rocksmith lessons. And found out some weaknesses I have. Like palm muting. Holy crap does that lesson just throws you in to the fire with the end song. Yeah I can palm mute but the mute and unmute while fast picking can be challenging. I noticed some bending …

Hi I'm a bit new to playing bass, but have played a lot of classical music before (wind instrument 😉 ). And I have noticed, that some songs do a lot of moving the hand back and forth. And I was wondering... why not just use another string? Specific I'm trying to learn Soldier Side by System of a Down. At a point I'm told (in the game) to use yellow string (tuned down to Ab) at 10th fret... the jump to 5th, 7th, 5th and back to 10th again. It's not fast, so I can manage, but it would be easier to use the "blue string" (tuned to Db) on 5th fret from the start (at this point). Then I don't have to move my hand at all... 🙂 Is there a reason for moving the hand…

  3. Hi all, So I've been playing for a couple months now and I've come to realize that while Rocksmith is fun and I've definitely built up guitar playing skills I didn't have before, when I tell people I'm learning guitar the first thing they want is to hear a song. Unfortunately I feel like a lot of songs in Rocksmith don't sound right when played acoustically (or without an entire band). So my question is what are the best songs that can be played the same way inside and outside of the game that still sound like the full song? Alternatively, how would I go about taking songs I like/want to play outside of the game and making them sound good when played acoustically?

Hi there. I'm having issues with my cdlc's not playing as a previous poster had and i did follow the instructions that was given to him. However, the .dll that i downloaded by following the link provided made it where Rocksmith would not start at all. So I found a .dll library site and got one, and now Rocksmith starts up just fine but will not play ANY cdlc's past the tuning screen. I'm completely at a loss. I understand that the instructions are every simple in that I am to place the .dll in the root folder (which I did) but I still can not play cdlc's. Please help!! I'm running Windows 10 64bit and my copy of Rocksmith 2014 did work with this OS previously. I just upgr…

  6. Hi all, actually I'm creating customs from Guitar Pro tabs that I wrote for education. This blues exercises are inspired by the book "Play Blues Guitar" by Jürgen Kumlehn, but I took only the riffs (Lead) and create full tracks of it with Lead, Rhythm, Bass and Drums in GP6. Thanks to Guitar Pro 6 which is able to convert the tabs also to wav, so I use the GP audio. (To record everything would be much to much work). The idea is to use this customs for practicing some standard blues riffs in typical 12 bar shape, in this case for accompaniment. The shapes are here as followed, always 12 bars then repeat, every shape is played 4 times. The steps a…

I know this probably gets asked a lot. I'm looking for a easy song to practice with that only uses 3 chords, I know D A E.

  9. Hey everyone. I unfortunately don't know what these types of chords are called. But the one where you place your index fingers to hold down all 5/6 strings at once. (Like the chords in Mr.Blue Sky.) I can't seem to play all of them at once without something being muted or causing fret buzz. I'm guessing it's a problem with the way I'm playing. No matter how hard I press down I usually end up muting two strings somewhere. Any tips? (Part of me wonders if it's something wrong with my guitar, because I don't remember that being a problem on a guitar I tried at Rockcenter. But still.)

Hi guys, I'm a noob in guitar playing and I'm trying to get those sessions going where you have to choose a band and so on but it seems I'm doing it all wrong specially those ladders if that is what they are called the game shows you from let say 4 to 7 and then it puts like the colors strings you need to put your fingers on but I don't seem to get it on how to do that. Any video'a I can watch where they show you how to play that? Thanks in advance

  11. EDIT: Due to a policy change, the CDLC has been removed from the database. Sorry guys! I've been working on this for a few weeks for my own use, but I wanted to share this with the CustomForge community. I've adapted John Petrucci's famed Rock Discipline guitar DVD and TAB book to CDLC form. I've made a CDLC track for each chapter of the book. For these to make any sense, they need to be used in conjunction with the TAB book or DVD. All exercises from the book are included, and the example numbers are indicated in the lyrics. The example numbers correspond to those in the book, but the DVD is mostly consistent. Many of these exercises are very difficult, so it is ge…

  13. I like to do normal exercises, but the most fun way to learn a technique is to play along with it in an actual song. The features in Rocksmith for practicing make it ideal for this kind of practicing in my opinion. What are some good songs for the following techniques? Tremolo picking Sweep picking Economy picking String skipping Legato Bends etc... So far my favorite songs for practicing are the following: Ensiferum - Ferrum Aeternum is a great beginner song. An intro track to a metal album where hand position stays the same (between 7th and 10th frets) with lots of string changes and some string skipping. Ensiferum - Little Dreamer is my go-to practice for tremolo p…

I just bought a new Dean Custom Zone bass in solid electric green. I have never played bass before. So I do not know how to shop for strings. I know I want to get a set of the DR multi-color strings that match Rocksmith's color code. https://www.drstrings.com/coated-bass-neon-multi-color The options for the 4 string are the: NMCB-40 Light (40,60,80,100) NMCB-45 Medium (45, 65, 85, 105) Im not looking for which ever one plays the best and creates the best tone. But which set would register the best on Rocksmith? Thank you.

Hi everyone :) Thanks for taking the time to read my topic, I'd like to say hello to you all and to introduce myself a little and ask if I'm doing the right thing. My name is Casey on the discord, you may have seen me there :) I've had Rocksmith 2014 for little over a month now. I bought it at the same time as my guitar. Honestly I don't think I'd had even touched a guitar before so I don't think it's really possible to be more of an amateur than I was.. I feel that I've definitely gotten better in the time I've spent with it. Although it's very hard for me to quantify so I'm really not sure how much better. I just know that doing some of the practice tracks from t…

Im a learning the Blues. What CDLC blues songs are a must?

  18. CDLC to learn and practice chords (power chords thats their name isn it, like 6th-fret3+5th-fret5+4th-fret5, and also barre and any other kind of chords if there are more). Ive only found one for barre chords. You play lot of chords in songs but haveing all them in a lesson or a series of lessons would be the best way to squeeze them for 20 minutes or so nonstop.

So, a little bit of background first. I started learning guitar when i was 8 years old and plaied for about a year then stopped. I picked the instrument back up let's say 3-4 months ago with rocksmith and started my learning process again. The last couple of weeks, though, i had a dilemma, should i play right handed or left handed? Let me explain why i'm not sure which hand to use anymore: i write and do a lot of stuff with my left hand (open doors, drink, eat, use my cellphone etc.) but i do a lot of stuff with my right hand too (kick with my right foot, play tennis, shoot a bball and so on). Everything was good and i didn't mind too much until i noticed that while …

  20. im really failing at lead guitar in rocksmith and was wondering if anyone could link me to any websites or videos that show everything to lead guitar and how to learn it

  21. I've been playing Rocksmith for bout a year and 4 months now, roughly 11 months as there are week breaks I stupidly took. I'm pretty decent, but I don't think I'm as good as I could be had I had lessons. I met a guy who is 40 2 years ago and he is absolutely insane at guitar, I'm talking slash style.. he played everything I said and it made me sick, especially Soothsayer by Buckethead.. he is a graded guitar teacher and bassist as well so after 2 years of contemplating this i decided the sooner I go up the sooner I learn more stuff, he gave me bargain lessons. I had my first lesson and he was expecting me to know jack-shit, I forget in my head how much rocksmith can …

  22. I started out doing the 60 day challenge except I've kept it going for 90 days now :). Been playing about 2 hours a day, and I've been making a video at the end of each month to track my progress and hopefully get some feedback. I'm not able to sign up with a guitar teacher just yet, so I'm not sure if I'm developing any bad habits or learned some things wrong which will limit me. Or what I should focus on the next few months. I do almost all of my playing in riff repeater at a slow speed trying to work it higher and higher, and whenever I get to a speed that I start to feel tension in my hand and not able to relax it while I play, I usually stay around there un…

  23. Hi all, So despite having read music theory books and thoroughly appreciated them I found that there were three things that bothered me not knowing about and I grow tired of ignorance. :) So I've gone ahead and explored the following: 1. CAGED System 2. Circle of Fifths and Fourths 3. Modes One problem I have with reading theory is that once I read a music theory lesson I don't make much use of it as I am playing guitar because the info is not at my fingertips. I am a fan of 1 double-sided page crib sheets that contain all the condensed details of the theory and having it on my music stand for use on-the-fly between playing Rocksmith songs. I also like to make my crib …

  24. Holla at you, first I've got to say this community is one of the best I've seen so far! Everyone of you please feel complimented, you guys are so devoted and so friendly to new and beginner people like me. There should be more people like you in the internet. So, coming to my topic: I'm a bloody beginner, never touched a guitar before Rocksmith2014 but 21 days ago I picked up Rocksmith2014 and have 4 Songs on 70-80%ish. It's Drops of Jupiter, Numb (love both songs), Blitzkrieg Bop and Otherside. Sometimes I just plug my guitar to my amp and repeat those riffs and surprisingly it sounds really good and clean. Also I'm able to play the Smooth Criminal mainriff - more or l…

Hi! I have ben playing the bass in RR for some 8 months now at 1 hour a day practice about. Never less though, and have felt pretty good about the whole progression. But the last 4 days I feel that I'm starting to suck. :( I make silly mistakes as pressing down the string / strings on the wrong fret for example. And start to feel a bit down and like a complete idiot about the whole thing. Is it normal that you get this kind of dips in the learning curve now and then? I belived that I would have come that far that I shouldn't slip up like this.
