-= Rodmans Shred Course =-
Shred guitar is a virtuosic style of electric guitar performance. Categorized by its use of advanced techniques, shredding is a complex art form. Shred guitar includes fast alternate picking, sweep-picking, diminished and harmonic minor scales, tapping, and whammy bar use.[1] Often incorporated in heavy metal, guitarists employ a guitar amplifier and a range of effects such as distortion. This creates a sustained guitar tone and may facilitate guitar feedback.
Basically GET FREAKING FAST AND ALWAYS KNOW WHAT YOUR FINGERS ARE DOING
Background:
I´ve also been thinking about my performance in the CS. Last year was packed with rl stuff - i got a new boss at work and i was named deputy chief of my department, which comes with (as always) a lot lot more work than you´d expect .... but i got that all covered by now and i´ll not go without one hour of guitar a day 2025. Goals? Now - i am in direct contest with our vip players/orgas @ Mikson in and with @ cacahuate51
And i am in the lucky situation that they both are a tad better than me. Always. Everytime. ;). So i went through my weaknesses - and besides arpeggios the real pain is the solosections coming up - really suck at those quick notes - so
Learn to shred and learn the fretboard!!!!
So at beginning of january i did some research - changed my pick, changed my picking technique and changed my fretting technique (oh boy what a pain after more than 10 years of doing everything ... other ways) started to do shredding exercises, free ones found on yt, i am doing 10 to 60 mins a day and and progress comes quite quickly. The ones i´ve been sticking to are mainly BERNTHs free lessons – he is not only Austrian like me, but best shredder i´ve seen so far and he cares to explain technical stuff also and he mentions in his videos that the licks can be used in stuff like the one here.
As there was feedback on the CS I decided to on my way share the exercises as full RS Shred course.
So here is what we have so far (updated with all excercises i am using on my journey)

-= e-min / G-maj, alternate picking =-
-= Speed Building Excercise 1 – 30 to 120Bpm =-

Very easy pattern, single string going up and down one handposition chromatically
Speed accelerating from 30-120bpm so diff from easy (3) – hard (7)
-= Speed Building Excercise 2 – 30 to 80Bpm =-
-= 2 string, one hand position, alternate or economic picking =-
2 strings, one handposition, speed bursts (double speed!!)
Speed from 30-80bpm, diff from easy (3) – very hard (8)
-= Shred Lick 1 – 80 to 150 Bpm =-
-= c min, alternate picking scale progression=-
Intermediate pattern, going up and down the c-min (D#maj) scale (C D Eb F G Ab Bb (C))
Speeds increasing from 80-150bpm in one file so diff from easy (4) beginning – very hard (8)
-= Shred Lick 2 – mixing triplets and eights - 80 to 150 Bpm =-
-= alternate picking =-
Beginner pattern, that is about exact timing, mixing triplets and eights
Speeds increasing from 80-150bpm in one file so diff from easy (3) beginning – hard (7)
-= Shred Lick 3 – e-min Stretchpentatonic - 30 to 120 Bpm =-
-= alternate picking =-
Adv pattern, that is about exact timing, stretching and string skiping
Speeds increasing from 30-120bpm in one file so diff from easy (3) beginning – hard (8)

Chunking = dividing something into small pieces.
We use that to learn the lick at full speed by starting wit 2 notes and gong up to the full 7 note lick
Int pattern, that is absolutely about speed gaining (and about exact timing, and string skiping and a bend)
Speed 200bpm eights so from int (3) at the 2-note beginning – hard (8)
