  1. Started by ledbthand,

It's an explorer style mahogany body guitar with a maple neck and bound rosewood fretboard. When I got it originally it had a Mighty Mite Motherbucker. Great pickup but it just sounded a little to muddy. I swapped it out for a no name 2 wire humbucker from the bottom of my parts box. That sounded nice, crunchy and bright below the 12th fret but above it had no real character and was sorta weak sounding. Then I switched to a Duncan Invader and it was also a nice crunchy tone but still muddy and basically dead above the 12th fret.By muddy I mean it sounds like the tone knob is rolled all the way off. It even sounds like that with the pickup wired directly to the output ja…

  2. Just thought id share my method on how to use Line 6's POD X3 and up to create virtual bi amping. What you need: -2 instrument cables -active d.i. Box -patch cable jack to xlr -either an instrument with two output jacks or a y-adapter Now connect the instrument cables to your instrument (you may need the y adapter to split the signal - i use my stinger II which has two outputs). The first cable goes directly into the pods input jack. The second into the di box, from where you connect the jack-xlr to the pods microphone xlr input. Now set the input source for tone 2 to xlr on the pod and make sure to use the input contoller of the mic input to get a non distorted…

  3. Lately, I've been unable to both play and test songs in RS2014 on bass, because out of nowhere a few days ago, my bass strings started acting up. Basically, when I strum a string (fingered or picked), it will make a muted, twang-y sound that quickly fades away, though it still makes normal, solid and lasting notes when I strum while holding down on a fret. Unfortunately, this makes traditional tuning pretty much impossible. I posted about this on another forum and was told that this likely has to do with how the strings are arranged in the nuts on the headstock, and I've spent a while attempting to properly restring that part, despite having no idea how to go about the…

  4. Started by briefer,

Hi! I have always used ultra light gauge in my guitar strings, but the 6th string usually buzzes when I tune low pitches (i.e. drop d) would it be better if I try higher gauges? Thanks!

  5. Thought I'd share my problem (and fix) from when I first got Rocksmith. No idea whether anyone has the same problem; someone might! :) I had the issue above - basically a constant humming or background noise through the speakers - when Rocksmith being played on my Laptop. Not sure if it's as much of a problem on Desktops. The fix is a 'ground loop isolator' that sits between the laptop headphone socket and your amp.. You should be able to get one for less than £10 on Ebay. To see if you need one, start RS as normal and see if you have this humming noise (unclean sound), then unplug the power cable to your laptop (so it runs off the battery). If your sound magically…

  6. Anyone have much experience with the scarlett 2i4? I was hesitant to go down the DAW rabbit hole but that lasted about a week. I have set up reaper with amplitube using my realtone cable to much success. I would like to use reaper with amplitube vst and rocksmith at the same time. Seems now with the ASIO4ALL drivers running, I cant give RS audio exclusivity therefore no in/out put to the game. any help would be appreciated!!!!!

  7. Started by musicmonkey,

Hello there, i'm hoping you lot can spare some of your knowledge. I'm currently looking for a cheap amp solution (£200< preferably) that'll provide plenty of effects since i like to play a variety of songs. I'm currently leaning towards a Vox vt20+ or vt40+ which weigh in at £140 and £180 respectively. They feel a little overcomplicated to use however. I've also given the Roland Cube a go, it doesn't offer the same number of effects but the loop you can have is a pretty useful feature. I'd love to hear some other suggestions, maybe a cheap pedal and amp combination or something? :) The sort of stuff i'd like to be able to play in a sort of check list. - Decent…

  8. Started by Reddog,

Does anyone record/make music videos? If so, what's your setup? any tips or better yet, what not to do?!? lol- that is just as important I use a PC so i'm looking at the RME babyface with totalmix FX. The apogee looks good but i'm not a mac person. (not yet anyway - refurb ipads don't seem to bad in price) I may build a system depending on how far down this rabbit hole I end up going! (and no, this isn't a mac vs. pc thread...lol.. those can get heated!)

  9. I just got a Squire VM Jazz bass to enhance my rocksmithiness. I love the bass except for the bridge which feels cheap. Any suggestions on a solid replacement? Bear in mind I will be doing the replacement myself including setup so nothing too complicated. Thanks.

  11. I have been reading up on what Guitars/Basses people own on here so i was curious does anybody else on here own an extended range instrument? (Bass with 5 or more strings) (Guitar with 7 or more strings). I'll get the ball rolling, this is my Ibanez RG8 modified with Dimarzio D Activator Pickups. http://i62.tinypic.com/anh93t.jpg http://i59.tinypic.com/15ewhdx.jpg http://i60.tinypic.com/t0lo36.jpg
