I think the 4.5 is fine dont mind a 5 (since there's not that many notes in the song so its kind of punishing ) but prefer it to not be higher than that, although I understand how some may struggle if they dont know their triads / bottom half of power chords (but this should be learnt as a beginner) . A power chord song will most likely be more natural to them and require less practice but we should try to avoid to overate songs that have stuff we arent used to (atleast we tend to feature more pc songs here than triads which might require more gtr knowledge).

As for the chord transitioning, as long as you have the pinky hovering over the 9 blue string and not curled up (somewhere away from the fretboard) it should be fairly easy to place it on the fretboard and the other fingers below immediatley after the first chord.

You can either just move the second finger and 3rd finger down since the first finger is barring /technicly doesnt need to move/ can be used as an anchor, or you can move the pointer finger down with the other two if it feels more natural to you, both ways are valid. If you struggle with it just practice transitioning between those 2 until its normal.

Other chords in the song might look intimidating aswell but its usually an extra finger placed or again triads.

That Donovan song, it's an easy bass line, very monotonous, almost too monotonous: it's easy for my thoughts to start wandering thinking I got it, and then boom, a mistake...

The Dracula song, the more I listen to it, the more it becomes a favorite. And that bass tone !

Going for Michael Jackson's Thriller, passing on Medium, failing on Hard. Will keep working on it because I get to half the song; it's straining my fingers but it's a very good (repetitive and fast (for me)) exercise :)

Went of Alice Cooper's Halloween too, failed on my 1st attempt but not by much, so I tried again and passed :)

Not a great score, but dipping my toes into Intermediate ;)

quick practice session after work, almost nailed the solos in both of these songs!

Not stuff I'm used to hearing, but think they are great choices for a beginner like me. They are much more manageable then the endurance challenge of the intermediate songs for me anyway.

I always struggle when there are open strings mixed with other strings notes. And to do it fast with a pick on bass 😅😬

But I also struggle playing Drop tunings and half the power chords aren't detected... 🫠

and with a poor playthrough of thriller my knuckles hurt and its time for bed. Couldn't hit that solo again in baby you're a haunted house but got tighter with the power cords.

Thanks for everyone involved with this on the back end, I'm loving it. It looks like you've already put me in beginner in rhythm, lead and bass and that's great, just where i want to be.

🎸 New on the site: Player Level on the Scoreboard

Every name on the Scoreboard now shows a small number: that player's level on the path, from @Rodman's Player Level (also visible in player banners). Hover or tap it for the exact value.

What it means
Roughly song rating × accuracy. A 70 is like 100% on songs rated 7, or about 93% on 7.5s. The color shows the band: Beginner 0–39, Intermediate 40–59, Advanced 60–79, Masterclass 80+.
"?" = not enough scores yet (3 on that path in the last 12 weeks; the hover says how many more you need). A dashed box = a level the site worked out because Rodman's sheet doesn't have one for you yet.

How it's counted
• Only your best card on each path each week counts, so playing extra songs never lowers it.
• Harder songs are worth more when played well: a 7 at 95% = 66.5, an 8 at 90% = 72.
• Your lowest week is dropped, and weeks you don't play aren't counted.

Your difficulty bracket
• Level in a higher band than your class? You're probably ready to play up.
• Lower? The songs may be a stretch for now, and that's how you improve.
• Trying a harder card on top of your usual one is risk-free: if it goes badly, your better score is the one that counts.
