No thank you (I've learned my lesson 😅). I wish we had new players and we'd be in the same category. I'm surprised no one new is joining with the advertising we had on ignition.

They're a seminal power metal band, one of my life-long favorites. I think all their albums are available on Spotify. Nearly all of those are great in their own way, but personally I really like Walls of Jericho, Keeper of the Seven Keys Part I, II and The Legacy, and Gambling with the Devil.

I did see Donovan do an impromptu solo acoustic set during intermission at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles.. way back. Someone recognized him, they brought out an acoustic guitar and he was a good sport - hope he got paid...

RHY Advanced Bonus: Tame Impala - Dracula (6)

This is the kind of chart I used to find very difficult, but I feel my sightreading has improved since then. Thanks Championship!!!

I agree with the assesment that this is RHY advanced, but in that case I think it should be at least 5.5... I would give this a 6, considering the many quick chord changes like this one below.

Feeling pretty exhausted at the moment and the callus on my right hand middle finger is disintegrating and quite sore, so might take a few days off playing - thought I'd get a couple of scores down first

Thank you for being our master of ceremony this week @drand ! What a great selection! I like Tame Impala and I didn't know Dracula, but it's super fun. The FHP is a little bit weird though (instead of starting with A1 and A2, I stay around E6 and E7 myself, except for the big slide to A13).

The Donovan song is a fun one too. I started as usual on Score Attack with Easy (and passed easily), but only got a Gold pick on Medium, but then got a better score on Hard. It happens sometimes that on a lower difficult, I can hear the notes that are played but not displayed, and the rhythm is a little bit broken, and I'm either too early or too late. This song is one of these.

On both, I think I can improve and move on to the Intermediate choices of the week (especially the Alice Cooper one given its rating).

Something else I forgot to mention, on the question about ranking above all Intermediate players in Bass Intermediate, I hadn't noticed! This means I can skip a level and go to Advanced directly? JK 😅 Happy where I am at the moment and feeling this is where I belong, for now... He he he

I'm glad it's motivating! honestly I haven't been going as hard for a bit as I did last week trying to get those competitionist and perfectionist medals 🤣 +watching @Nomgoose raking them in was inspiring 🙏 hadn't torn up my fretting hand since lord knows when but two hours of Death will do that I guess

Almost! Last weeks song was a 5 (so the right lvl for you to get promoted to adv) but you also needed to get 99% on it.
In the meantime, you'll just have to play some michael jackson and it looks like you are prepared for it based off your laugh 😅

I reccomend the bead version if you have 5 string bass or heavy strings. There are green string notes in the chart (but not many).

The adv bonus song is pretty low in rating so you can check that one out aswell.

I think this is the closest I've been to not needing to download any songs for a week, just had to get Alice Cooper and Donovan's pieces! Not a long session for me today, still feeling that concert from last night and the six hours on the road:

So, I have a friend that streams on Twitch for a living and they like this song, but their regular chat apparently things they LOVE it. I couldn't tell you how many times I've heard this when they're taking song requests. (2.5) is perfect for this Tame Impala classic (also such a nice, clean score):

Great piece for a warm up! Good way to introduce newer folks to the idea of how compact the octave can be when using all their strings. (2) is perfect here:

What could I say about one of the best selling songs in the world? What a hypnotic groove you'll get into playing this. (4) feels right with the four string arrangement:

What a fantastic piece to play when you just want to go fast and not have to think too much. A couple surprisingly challenging sections there in the middle. Great endurance piece as well, as you don't get much rest throughout. Can't wait to give the new chart a try, although I will always have praise for albatross' work. (Edit: I see they didn't touch the bass chart, awe man). (7.5) seems like the right score to me:

Just a regular bass (a passive Squier fretless jazz bass which is my go-to bass, and an active Squier jazz bass, tuned to drop D for those songs 🙄). One day maybe (a passive 5 string multiscale (one can dream :))).
