Very early submissions from myself this week, heading off on holiday tomorrow and back next Wednesday so I have to keep my streak going even my initial scores leave a little to be desired...

Didn't know what to expect from this one but was pleasantly surprised, a really great cover. The bends (as always!) caught me out though.

Again, pleasantly surprised by this one as well. I normally don't have a lot of time for Slash, the only song of his solo stuff I actually like is Nothing to Say and that's pretty much because of M Shadows but this was a fun playthrough.

The fact that this man was able to play this with essentially only 2 fingers blows my mind...

I'd prefer to stay in advanced. I haven't even always won there lately, so the competition was okay, and the scores of the top masterclass participants are out of my reach.

Besides, as I mentioned, the Steely Dan song was more of a 6.5 for me, but that's just my feeling because I like those kinds of charts, so this one wasn't much of a challenge.

Of course, if my advanced class competitors tell me to get out of here, I'll do it 😄

Slides my beloathed. For whatever reason, RS has always had issues with detecting slides on some songs, and this is one of them. Fun otherwise. (7) seems more appropriate of a score.

Lemmy did a great job covering this song, rating seems good

Missed one note at the end, rest of the song is very fitting for a (6)

Thanks for organizing @Rodman ! Below are my entries for this week.

Not a fan of Motorhead, but a fan of Rolling Stones, and this song being up to my level, I take it. 100% on 1st attempt on Easy, 100% on 2nd attempt on Medium, 100% on 3rd attempt on Hard.

I went for the next one, Intermediate: They Might Be Giants - Boss Of Me. I might go back to it, but maybe not, so here's my score:

A couple of observations on my end:

1. I've read it on some other post, but RS is quite forgiving... (I'm saying this because of the Boss of Me song)

2. I don't know how musicians can remember all the notes (or maybe they don't need to, they reach an instrument proficiency where it becomes natural. I'm looking forward to the day when I'll play like that bassist on the Louis Cole song)

3. I don't know how musicians can play for 1-2 hours non-stop. I practice for 1 hour, competing here, I clench my jaw 😅 , I get calluses, I make mistakes, etc... An other reason to look forward to that day I mention in #2

4. I thought I had posted about it but I'm not finding my post: for songs on a different tune than EADG for bass, do you have a drop pedal and if yes, any recommendations?

1 i agree somedays it can be really forgiving , especially on bass. Other days the opposite can also happen where it fails to recognize. Thats why i dont really worry about the 100% that much, the most important part imo is that it sounds the best possible on your end and your are having fun.

2 As mentioned on discord (more people should hop on there , easier to chat) I dont remember anything i play. Eyesight reading and memorisation are 2 different skills, both very important so make sure to practice them.

3 luckily havent had callouses in years, cant tell you why. I can play all day if i have the time and if i enjoy the songs.

4 According to last weeks post 7 people have either thick strings or a drop pedal. @robolechuga @drand @Nomgoose @aLR @Rodman @aNDESmASAMUNE maybe they can let you know.
I personally have a whammy riccochet by digitech (get the normal drop pedal by them though cause not having all the semitones is annoying)
and later on i got a boss gx 100 which is always connected to my interface. its pretty solid but will be more expensive though cause it has amps and fx.

I also was talking about drop pedals with someone i did a tab for and they said theyve never had issues with a pitch fork+

(at any rate id reccomend buying used, since lots of people just get better equipment or abandon the hobby, or wait for thanks giving /xmas sale if you do buy one)

that being said, if you are only using it for the game, you shouldnt need a drop pedal with this:

2. I remember stuff from when I was 16 to 18, but can't remember why I am looking in the refrigerator today. I am beginning to work on this though and it takes a conscious effort to walk away from Rocksmith and practice elsewhere on a different skill. It is all practice, no magic bullets here that I know of.

3. I played for an hour a day for the past 5 years, just made a commitment to play daily, it is conditioning, I used to get wrist cramps or sore hands....you have to stop then and not injure yourself, but it is possible to condition yourself to play longer. I can play for many hours also now.

4. Lots of info below - having a transpose device really makes it so much more fun to just switch tunings -

I have a Line 6 HX effects that I recently got for a great price on FB marketplace, and I use the Poly Capo for full semitone shifts, like Eb, D, C# etc. I recently discovered there is also a Poly Pitch that you can shift a percentage of an interval, I used that last week for the A445 song, and it worked really well. Tons of effects and fun stuff to learn about and shape your tone with the HX.

After that I have begun to experiment with moving away from the Rocksmith Custom Tones and using my hardware or other software to get good guitar tones. I was running my UA Lion 68 with the HX effects in dual paths - a dry route with pitch shift panned left to the interface, then the right path on the HX with drive, reverbs etc. out to my power amp and 2x12 cab. Turn the guitar volume to zero in Rocksmith and monitor the game audio (sans guitar) through my normal monitors.

Last night I started experimenting with VB matrix and Two Notes Genome (basic version is free) Discover GENOME 2.0 - Two notes (has a transpose feature in the paid desktop version) and was somewhat successful routing audio from physical hardware to virtual ASIO devices and separating the Genome output and Rocksmith output independently. (Had a couple hiccups if I switch away from Rocksmith window). I have the Genome Desktop version, was a free upgrade because Two Notes Wall of Sound was included with my interface way back.

Tonight I am going to try Reaper with ReaRoute installed to see what I can do. Reaper can also do the transpose. If I get it working I will put a setup guide up. I think the link on reddit that may be similar.

Good to hear I'm not the only one that can't get this to work, I somehow deleted my headstock with RSMods and it won't come back 😅 tried reinstalling the game and that was a MISTAKE 🤣
