So annoyed! I can't create my cover for Black Holes! I recorded different takes for lead/rythm/bass and i don't manage to set all these takes to the same tempo with Ableton! 😭🤯 I'll try to read more tutorial but really I want to spend time playing guitar, not with figuring out software! 🙄

I've been wrestling with Audacity because my cover for Space Oddity is not in the same tempo between bass and rhythm (and now I'm experimenting with tempo/rhythm effects 🤣 )

It's been a learning experience 😁

Don't know if the result will be usable though

Boys! Been there 😞 - pain pain pain, but it´s easy to fix:

DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations, so all the software mentioned - Abbleton, Audacity, Reaper, Cakewalk....) behave unexpectedly there...

DO NOT EDIT THE BMP IN ANY OF THOSE AFTER HAVING ANY TRACKS with guitar or bass or vocals IN THERE

The easy workflow to avoid heartattacks there is:

1) Record your tracks using a metronome or backgroundtrack or along the original song to have it syncable in the same bpm
2) Create a project in your DAW
3) Enter the BPM according to your recordings (either check songbpm.com or by tapping the tempo (type tap song tempo into goo) or if you play along Songsterr or Ultimate Guitar or a Guitar Pro Tab you get the exact bpm right there (recommended)) - you only have to enter the bpm if you plan to add a mididrumtrack or any other time-based track in your Software, if you only use your recorded tracks and maybe the track you did play to - THE BPM IN THE DAW is not used.
4) Paste all the tracks you recorded to your DAW and sync them (do not stretch them, just match the start) - and a good tip for that is start your recording with 4 clicks (precount) so you can just sync there and you are good.
5) adjust volume of the tracks, add effects if you like and
6) render the output file

What does not work:
- recording DIFFERENT tracks WITHOUT caring for tempo (metronome etc) amd sync them for tempo afterwards.
That does not matter if you only record one track, and a workaround is also record one track and record the next ones (eg vocals) while listening to the first as backing track.

Happy covering. If you need any advise just shout.

Rod.

Improvements

Difficult chart to high accuracy, too many details...

Definitely harder than 3.5. Long streaks of the same notes raise the score, but every now and then a quick transition repeats. The chart is similar to Rhythm which was rated 6 so it's strange.

Nice chart!

Yeah, I didn't have too much trouble with the repeating notes, but the licks tripped me up quite a bit.

(Also, I've found that if you just spam notes like crazy, Rocksmith will count them as correct, even if you've got the rythm all wrong 😬 )

Let's jump straight in shall we?

?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

Those opening chords were trickiest part if I remember correctly. Not gonna lie, ended up getting pretty bored playing this one so didn't bother going back.

?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

After reading through everyone else submissions it's good to see that I wasn't the only one contemplating throwing both my PC and my guitar out the window with those damn bends. It says 2 attempts but that's not the whole truth, fair amount retries thrown in here...

?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

This was probably the song I had the most fun with this week, thought the chords would catch me but it was more the solo than anything else; the verses have a great groove to them as well. As someone else said, tricky week to be playing on .10s between this song and Joan Jett but we're better for it.

?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

Again, was the solo that got me here. Haven't actually listened to Anvil in years but I do have a recommendation for anyone interested in 80's metal history, go give Anvil! The Story of Anvil a watch, you won't regret it

?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

Gave it a go for the hell of it, definitely something you would need to sit down and study rather than try to sight-read like I do with 99% of my submissions!

Best of luck everyone

I tried it with a pick this time and it went a little better.
