Well I wanted to start a thread for people to ask about general guitar mods. Wiring, neck profiles, frets and fretboards, trems, body profiles, pickups, active vs passive, strings and the mods you need to carry heavier strings in cheap guitars, bridges (for instance tely vs, tunomatic + tail piece vs, roller bridges. Seriously let's try to concentrate mods in a single thread. I've got years of experience, I know there are a few other members who know there way around building and modding guitars. Lets talk about them (It's the only place on this forum I'm useful :-p

I hope the add a looper pedal in the next rocksmith game (and a proper wah, but that's irrelevant right now). In the meantime I'd like you to recommend a looper software for pc so I can use it in RS14. Do you guys know any?

Hello all you helpful Customforgers, I've got a new query that I'd like some thoughts on. Since I decided to blow the dust off my guitar last year, I've been playing on a Roland Cube Lite. This is a solid state amp with 2 distortion channels powered by a proprietary 5.7 volt DC power adapter. The thing is that outside of the clean channel, with all gain turned down, it seems to suffer from almighty hum/buzzing. The more distorted you go, the worse the hum. I always thought that this was down to my guitar having P90s rather than humbuckers. However, I just tried out my girlfriends crappy Elevation EG-10J which was bundled for under £100 with a cheap guitar from Ar…

I'm going to set up my 1st pedal board in the near future and I was wondering what are some decent pedals (or essential ones) to look into getting. I figured so far on the boss chromatic tuner and either a vox or crybaby wah. What are some other ones (like distortion, phaser, chorus, etc.) I should into and what brands? PS: I like playing rock and blues/jazz songs if that makes a difference on the selection of pedals to look into thanks!

Hi all, I started out last year playing guitar when RS2014 was released. I bought an Ibanez SIR70FD and a Spider IV 15 amp from Line 6. Now I'm thinking of buying the AMPLIFi 75 as it looks easy to use when trying out new sounds or finding a specific sound for just jamming or trying to mimic known artists. I will probably add the FBV Express MK II footswitch from Line 6 as well. Right now, when I play RS, I mostly split my guitar to play the sound through my amp while also sending the signal to my computer where I have turned down the guitarsound. Downside is I'm quite limited in matching the "correct" tone to the music I'm playing, especially if there are more than…

  6. Hi, I'm planning to buy a 3/4 scale electric guitar for my 5 years old kid. I've seen some options on the web, but I can only find a couple of models in local shops here (Madrid). After a few phone calls there are some Ibanez Mikro, Fender Squier Strat Mini, and some other low-quality options. On the web I've seen an ESP LTD EC-JR that I like but I've not seen any reviews yet. So, here is the point. Do you use any 3/4 scale guitar with RS 2014? Any recommendations? Thanks a lot / Fernando

I saw these on Ebay, I nearly wet myself laughing. However someone might find them useful ... http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Rocksmith-Compatible-Multi-Coloured-Electric-Guitar-strings-/00/s/NzAwWDcwMA==/z/H9wAAOxyV-xR5mpP/$%28KGrHqRHJBYFHKZ0oeO8BR5mpPicw%21~~60_12.JPG

Hello everyone. I found a way to manage my time in a way to put a constant effort in my guitar play, of course, with Rocksmith. I have a Fender Stratocaster and I'm using (recommended in the guitar shop) Fender strings 250L Light (nickel-plated steel). While I still consider myself a beginner I saw some improvements in my guitar play but sometimes it feels that these strings are not the best, especially for bends. So I have two questions. How often do you need to change the strings? Should I change my strings with some other model? Thanks everyone Calin

Anyone out there have unique guitar straps that they use and would like to share pics of or boast about? Personally I just use a black nylon strap... $10.00 at the music store

So.. I've got two guitars, the cheap-ass rocktile st-something I learned the basics on - it's set up very playable with lowered action and almost no fret buzz. ...and a dbz barchetta rx-r1 which i grabbed on the weekend they sold it for $200 a few weeks back ;) big thanks to the cf-team for letting me know about that offer on this site, btw! The dbz felt like I don't even have to change a thing out of the box, and sounds way punchier and more defined - the stock custom dbz pickups seem to be a huge improvement obviously. My amp is a line6 spider IV15, with factory presets. What I'm wondering is why the higher notes (17-22) sound weak and die out rather quick, is i…

I'm sure it isn't really - but it sure sounds like it! So today I took receipt of a Jamman Solo XT pedal. My first looper - very exciting. Anyway following the instructions, I have it plugged in to an amp and my guitar (so no elaborate multi-pedal set up) and as soon as I press the pedal to start recording a loop, an almighty high-pitched whine comes out of the amp. I tried a second amp with the same results. I tried a different guitar, same results. Even if it's not plugged in to any guitar, the pedal simply causes the amp to scream as soon as I press the pedal. This isn't some kind of low-level static or something like that - it's as loud as anything I might be playi…

I would like to get my acoustic hooked up to rocksmith. Has anyone had any experience with the cheap pickups on amazon or ebay uk? Also is the female female connector that would be required a mono or stereo one? I Don't want to spend a fortune but would like it to work!!

Hello, I'm about to buy a Squire Cyclone as a project (Starting with Squire so I won't really care if something goes wrong with it). I want to trade out parts as I get more $$$ and learn about better parts to get (humbuckers, tuning pegs, neck, custom paint job). I'd like to know it is possible to attach a Fender neck to a Squire body if I choose to do so later on. Thanks!

So I just bought a DBZ barchetta rx-r1 a few months ago and I wanted to get a case for it. Just wondering if it's that big of a difference between a hard shell or soft case. Also, just wondering if anyone knows of any other case that would work for this guitar other than buying a case specifically made by dbz http://s28.postimg.org/jljdtvhjh/image.jpg

Ok so i need some quick advice, im looking into getting another guitar cause I've been playing rocksmith for 2 going on 3 years with the epiphone junior model that came with the 200$ bundle, which is fine for practice but im to the point where i feel i could probably do better with a better guitar, so I've got some deals I've found a brand new dbz Barchetta rx-fr-r6 for 350$ used less than an hour dbz BARRX-R1 for 300$ or the Ibanez js100 that is used for idk how long and the back plate is missing for 315$ i dont have access to try any of them out, was hoping to have one with a fairly thin neck kinda like the guitar i got now thanks for input in advance!!!

Just thought it would be handy to have a thread dedicated to effects pedals! I've only got one at the moment, it's a multi-effects pedal, the Digitech RP255: http://adn.harmanpro.com/product_attachments/product_attachments/13_1297201283/RP255_Top_medium.jpg It's got an expression pedal, emulation for 24 amps, 15 cabs and 54 effects with 60 presets and 60 user-defined presets. A really nice piece of kit and didn't cost me that much, around £130 if I remember correctly. Have just seen one on GAK for 97 quid if you want to get hold of one cheaper. The amount of sounds and the wide variety of sounds you can get out of it is ridiculous! Have been thinking about getting…

  17. Need some advice guys about string height from the fretboard. I've googled plenty and there is a lot of information out there about changing the action on guitars from the bridge or from the neck, but never seems concrete on what to do. On receiving my new guitars I noticed string buzzing coming from the strings being to close to the fretboard. On my bass I first tried raising my bridge for each string, but that didn't really help, so I put them back down and ultimately loosened the neck trust rod a little to achieve a higher string height. Although I almost feel like the strings should be a little lower, yet it would cause the buzzing. I haven't messed with the Bolero …

But i still want peoples feed back off of this. Will i still get that sound i want with these bad boy pickups

  19. So I was gonna trade off my Dimebag Darrell Signature, because it didn't fit my playing style. I got suggested two trades: one offered Epiphone Les Paul Custom Antique Ivory with Seymour Duncan humbuckers, the other offered Epiphone Les Paul 100 with standard pickups. I'm not entirely sure which one should I get. Any help?

  20. I was on YT and found this deal through TTK , a channel I subscribe to. I would be ordering one of these, if I had the $299 to spend: http://www.worldmusicsupply.com/search.aspx?si=&sp=293-1111 24 fret neck thru carved mahogany body and neck - rosewood fret board jumbo frets Emg 81/85 sperzel locking tuners 25 1/2" scale Tone-pro bridge

  21. I have only been playing for a few weeks now, the first guitar (yes i have the bug) i bought was the ESP LTP AX-360 as seen in my sig, but that proved too awkward to play while seeted and i found out the hard way that learning the fretboard and the string locations wtihout tripping over my fingers was almost impossible to master . So not to be defeated i purchased a bass guitar, this has proven to be the best idea i have had in a long time , i am slowly developing the muscle memory to not actuallu need to look at the fret board as much as i had been so i see progress. the bass below is the ESP LTD F-54 4 string .

Hi everybody! I currently have a starter fender guitar and I was looking into getting something a bit fancier. So far I've had my eye on some type of Les Paul. Basically I'm asking if it's a better deal to go with a Gibson model or an epiphone model that's "better" in terms of highest to lowest quality... For example, a Gibson studio vs a "high end" epiphone model? Thoughts? Also, is there a huge difference in quality for spending more on the Gibsons or do they only get slightly better as the price goes up? Thanks!

  24. In another thread I asked for a Multi-Effects pedal recommendation and Wepeel was kind enough to send me in a bit of a different direction towards Amplitube 3. I've spent a little time looking that over and am not really sure I understand it, but it looks interesting. Can someone dumb that down for me as to what I really need to make it work for a beginner who really just wants to get in the neighborhood of songs/riffs sounding like they should? Do I need the StealthPlug, is that where to start? What about a pedal? Which piece of software do I start with because it looks like they offer a ton? Can someone just dumb this down for me so I can start sounding like S…

Oh, so I want to buy a guitar with a tremolo bar and so went into the shop with a few in mind. PRS, ESP, Gretsch and Ibanez. Tried the Ibanez SR520 and didn't like it at all. Looked good but sat really poorly. Tried a Gretsch Electromatic and while I liked the look and sound, didn't like the size or the position (no playin high frets with this baby). ESP they didn't have any in stock but I want a guitar in something other than black (my current one is black). ;) PRS. Quite liked the Custom 24 SE but I am not sure about their own trem bar. They have Floyd models but are these any better? Not sure if the Tremonti are worth looking at (but I wanted a 24 fret).. S…
