  • Ok, I'll be honest. I chose songs performed by artists I know and like, and I've even seen most of them live 😄 However, all of the songs have charts that are good for playing in the championship. Bruc

  • Hello, First time I take part in the event. Really like Leon song so I tried the bass part in beginner category.

I'm not sure what you're referring to exactly, some promotion from the past that you didn't accept earlier? 🤔

Last week, rhythm path was rated too low to meet the requirements for promotion when you achieve 99%.

Yeah. If you see on week 571 I was on rithm master, but on week 579 I had asked to be downgraded. They had promoted me, but I rejected that. It was because I thought that I was not ready yet. The difference between the advanced and master was (is?) huge for me on guitar rithm. The master song of last week was and the master of current week is some "comfortable" to me to play.

(because of C tunning of this current week, I have to play on an acoustic guitar, a Hofman HMF 240 or on an Strinberg one, both modified by myself with humbuckers, as my el guitar is a Floyd rose one)

Something similar occured to me on bass path on 2018. I was on advanced and then someone has prometed me. But on that year, the difference between adv and bass master was huge to me and I rejected the promotion too. But when I came back on 2024, I feel more comfortable to play on bass master.

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.

Actually, I'm probably too lazy. I used to change my guitar strings frequently because my e or B string would break when I bending. Surprisingly, it hasn't happened in over a year, so I still play the same ones. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I now use a second guitar with thicker strings for lower tunings, so my main guitar is mainly used for E Std, Eb Std, and occasionally D Std. So the strings are loosened and re-tensioned less often.

yeah, multiple guitars for different tunings is really nice, you can set up every one just for one thing.
I also can't remember the last time I broke a string, and I'm using .08s on my main (E std). But I still replace the strings once they start to sound dull. Doesn't that bother you?

My el guitar is a two humbuckers Ibanez, black one. I myself mod it on 2016, changed its caps for two DiMarzio (tone zone on bridge and Evo on neck). One of its earlier humbucker I put on an kind "mini guitar", start on 5th fret of a normal size guitar. I projected and an very nice luthier neighbor of mine has built it. Another cap I put on that Hofman acoustic guitar. As it body is very similar with a acoustic electric guitar, I made the humbucker hole on its body and put one of that humbucker that came with my Ibanez. Then I made its electric connections, a volume and tone pots and put another output jack on that Hofman. So, if I want, I may plug two jacks on that ac guitar: one on nornal piezo and another one on an pedalboard and I will gonna have two sounds (never tested it). Of course, it produces a lot of feedback noises if I play live, as I did one day back two years on my Church, when I tested it's "el guitar" sound only. So I had to control a lot of things to avoid feedback, but I thought it was Nice.

To ground it's connection, I pass a steel wire between it's piezo cap and strings.

The another ac guitar I have made this kind of Frankstein mod was on my Strinberg black one. This come with that normal ac guitar circular hole. So I projected on 3d software an Black PLA cover with humbucker hole and put an Malagoli humbucker. This in never tested live and I kill all it's piezo cap and electric, and plug the humbucker direct to output. It only to research and to play the songs of this championship.

Both of those acoustic I put el guitar 0.9 strings and let then on low tunings to not force it's glued bridge. I let then on D or, at max, on Eb tunings.

On my basses i did myself something similar. On Yamaha 5 strings I put an push-pull to made it passive, as it is full active from fabric. On my Condor 4 Bx12 strings I put an active circuit and an push-pull to make it back to passive when I want it...

On that el mod Ibanez guitar I put an push-pull to phase two dummarzio hunbucker (volume, phase neck; tone, phase bridge) and an three switch to coil split, full humbucker and series/parallel tone zone. This el guitar I use to play on my Church.

That's all my Frankstein mod on my instruments... 😂.

Impressive...

...but do you change your strings from time to time? ;)

but srsly:
1. the grandpas guitars comment was just a dethklok joke/meme
2. necks with no truss rod - it's a good move not to tune them up all the way to E, but still sounds iffy to me
3. Why steel wire and not copper?
4. I actually have no experience with 'acoustic' guitars, but do own and play a nylon string 'classical' guitar sometimes. Are those the same or similar in build? Honest question, I have no idea.

I know it was a joke. Both ac guitar of mine are steel strings ones from fabric, not nylon. I think nylon guitars have necks more thick, and steel have the neck closest to an El guitar, in general terms I think it was the one of another diferences between then.

And as El guitar strings have more tension than the ac guitar steel, I have to put lowest gauge and drop its tunning. I forgot to say: In terms of unplugged ac guitar sound, for me, it's changes nothing, both of my mod ac guitars.

Dunno about the neck thickness, kinda sounds like it would depend on a the model more than the use-case. Anyways, flimsy body made from thin pieces of wood, plus no truss rod, that's all I'm getting at. Even with lighter strings and lower tunings I'd be gentle with them.

Are acoustic strings made from a different alloy or something? Aren't they magnetic? Do the pickups not pick them up?

Steel ac guitar strings does not have the same magnetic as el guitar strings ones as those was not made to work with an El guitar cap.

Didn't know that, thanks.
But even with all those compromises and hard work, they're still grandpas guitars. ;)

I mean, you can get a knockoff start body in a pawn shop for dirt cheap now, seems like a better platform for mods and experimenting.

Fun to do the whole album long !! but fun!!

I have bumped you up to masterclass now :)

I really like to play the full album I should probably play the rhythm chart but i'll do it next time. I'm gonna try to focus on the end of saturate me, I'm really bad at playing this type of things.

Also I can try to work on the rhythm chart of Arch Enemy, I never play those type of fast things.

I don't remember what strings I put on, but I often bought Elixir, so probably those. I don't notice any buzzing, etc and they still sound really good.

I was a bit amused that @Rodman who is a masterclass player in Rhythm, wrote this is 3, and yet he had to struggle to achieve 90% 😉 I rated this 4.5, ok I can lower to 4, but despite easy chords, chart is very tiring due to the frequent, quick chord changes. My hand started to hurt...

Not really my glory day:

This, however, feels more like it:

?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

C standard is really relaxing to play in, the strings are so loose :) I briefly considered tuning up from B, but I'm glad I tuned down from E instead.

Oh, overused strings don't buzz. It's the opposite - they slowly start sounding muddier and muddier - you loose 'attack' or 'responsiveness', I don't know how to describe it really. But it's really noticeable to me, after a couple of weeks I feel no fun while playing unless I change the strings.

I guess it wouldn't be as apparent if you're playing mostly Gilmour licks ;).

If you can do me a favor, pls, pick an AC/DC song you like and play it some over a couple of days. Then put on fresh strings and play it some more. If you can't hear the difference then I'll be surprised, but I won't argue anymore.

Ogh.. well.. I can't move my fingers fast enough 🤦‍♂️ and I am saddened by this fact
