dont think ive heard this song in its entirety before, pretty neat. synster gates was around 23 when this was released so kudos to them for doing a solid album at such a young age.

2 Right, so ideally the songs you guys choose would be after 2025. BUT since i dont want it to be too much of a chore for you guys, and want it to be a reward rather than a punishment, you can choose whatever you wish. aka it can be pre 2025 ( like some of the songs this week are pre2025) .

If its pre2025 you can always hit up the creator with a " any chance they could update it to 2025 standards this week to use in the championship?" but thats up to you guys and the creator might not have time, not be active, or want to.

3 I dont think difficulties should be too much of an issue as long as its a close enough guestimation. Just dont suggest joe satriani for beginner...or maybe do? and have a wacky week xD idk we'll see, nothing is written in stone.

I have looked at a few songs and some of them have already been in the championship, including some of my favorite songs. Is there a general rule not to use songs that have already been played before, even though it’s been a while since that specific song was used?

There’s quite a few songs I like with CDLCs that were created before 2020, if it has a reasonable good quality, I would able to choose it, right?  I pretty much feel like my guitar solo skills are similar to that of Lil Wayne’s famous guitar “solo” so definitely no Joe Satrini for me. It feels like I’m asking too many questions, I hope you don’t get annoyed about that.

Yup, you can submit songs that have been played in previous weeks. When this happens they will say "capo week x " next to the name. Hasnt happened in a while but it is a thing.

For next week the date doesnt matter just choose a song you wish.

I am with @ALSRC and @Mikson regarding the Nickelback song, so I have dropped the rating on Lead to 2.5 and Rhythm to a 2.

@cacahuate51 mentioned he thought the Dokken song potentially had the lead in this week. I felt that lead was just out of reach of Advanced because the solo is really fast, but Rhythm and Bass were definitely not at the same level. So those paths were easy to fill the gaps in the other selections this week.

Hey Y'all, thought I'd try out the easy guitar after a year's absence. It's been a pretty rough year - fighting some mysterious neuromuscular ailment - just managing to play guitar but don't have the hand strength to play bass now (I sold most of my basses in frustration). It's motivating to see how well everyone is playing, I'll see if I can work my way up slowly...

Actually, newb host oversight. Didn't cross my mind to include as bonus track. I was just happy to be ahead of the game and prepared for the week's launch. Thanks for the perspective.

Bass

Random miss on one of the last notes, I love it 🙄

This is generally on the same level as Nickelback, both are about a 3 for me.

This chart really needs updating. It looks like this was copied from some Guitar Pro file and that's it. Some notes are in strange positions (e.g., a random blue 2 when there were previously yellow 7) or some notes have palm muting when it's a fingerpicking chart 🙂

This didn't seem that difficult until the crazy final sections came along. I'd give this 8.5.

Edit. Ahh I forgot that @cacahuate51 mentioned that the winner should choose a song. I haven't been looking for anything special in a while, but if I win bass, I'd suggest one of my CDLCs, which has been on the selection list for a long time: Kult - Arahja. The bass chart is very nice, but the guitars are intermediate, so I don't know how it compares to the rest. Should I choose a song with only bass? Maybe I'll come up with something later.

Soon as I saw the list of songs I knew there was only going to be one that would take up most of my time so I'll just drop the first few scores here.

Haven't listened to this song for years but as soon I heard it it brought me straight back to being 16 playing Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, used to have this album on repeat back then! After hearing this again I've been going back to playing a few other Avenged songs this week and actually noticed that they reused the part of the chord sequence from the chorus of this song for the post solo section in Afterlife, nice little easter egg there.

Really tricky song in the end, funny thing is that Synyster Gates is, and rightfully so, known for his sweeping but this song had next to none of that, it was the funky arpeggios and damn bends that caught me out.

My personal favourite song off of this album is Trashed and Scattered which is worth a listen if you haven't heard it, has the best chorus lead melody out of all of Avenged's back catalogue, in my humble opinion of course!

Since it seems there are no other people in the beginner class this week, I think it's fair to say that I have won. I couldn’t be bothered with trying to get 100% as a result.

I had quite a lot of trouble with choosing a single song. The song I have chosen is White winter hymnal by Fleet foxes (was in Championship week 479).

Hello, I'm new here. I started playing guitar 5 years ago with Rocksmith, and I’ve spent around 820 hours on it. I don’t think my level is very good yet, but I love playing, so that’s okay. I only play through Rocksmith, and I’m not able to play anything without it for now.

I want to improve, so I was wondering if I could record myself and post my best attempt at a song to get some advice or feedback to get better for the next week...

For this first post, I didn’t record myself because I still have to play all the songs. I didn’t try the Avenged Sevenfold song because I know it’s above my current level, and also because of the tuning.
