Took a bit longer than expected but its here :)

Mikson is probably gonna put me in time out for doing a stacked week again.

As I was playing song pop (music trivia phone app game) got an ad that they have a discount due to it being womans day tomorrow. So that inspired me to do this week and got me testing out lots of female vocalist bands. There's a ton in the intermediate category but did find it quite hard to find songs for the other categories.

Also not gonna start react till monday incase any changes need to be done. Please hosts dont add it .🙏

1. Kylie Minogue – "Can't Get You Out of My Head"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c18441Eh_WE

  • The 20-Second Sale: When Kylie’s A&R executive played her the demo for this song, she decided she wanted to record it after hearing just 20 seconds of it.

  • The Rejected Demo: Before it reached Kylie, the song was actually offered to S Club 7 and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, both of whom turned it down. It went on to hit number one in 40 different countries.

  • The "La La La" Hook: The famous "la la la" hook was originally just a placeholder intended to be replaced with lyrics later, but the producers realized it was too catchy to change.

2. Fergie – "Big Girls Don't Cry (Personal)"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agrXgrAgQ0U

  • Record Breaker: This song made Fergie the first female artist to have three number-one singles from a debut album (alongside "London Bridge" and "Glamorous") since Christina Aguilera in 1999.

  • Acoustic Pivot: While her previous hits were heavy on hip-hop and urban beats, this song was a deliberate shift toward a simpler, acoustic folk-pop sound. It features nearly 30 live instrumentalists, including 18 violinists.

  • The Video Lead: The music video features actor Milo Ventimiglia (of This Is Us fame) as her love interest.

  • I tested this song out a while back just never found the right week to put it in.

3. Cherri Bomb – "Shake the Ground"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viMn4BNlm3I

  • Superhero Ties: Long before they became known as Hey Violet, the band (then called Cherri Bomb) had this song featured on the soundtrack for the 2012 film The Avengers (Avengers Assemble).

  • The Band's Manifesto: The title of their only studio album, This Is the End of Control, is actually a lyric taken directly from this song. Lead singer Julia Pierce said it was a message about teenagers taking back their own power.

4. Magdalena Bay – "Death & Romance"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8gfVTnbBi8

  • The Concept: This was the lead single for their 2024 album Imaginal Disk. The lyrics follow a surreal narrative about a woman (True) who is waiting at home for her alien boyfriend to pick her up in a UFO, only to realize he’s not coming.

  • Quick Spark: Despite its complex, psychedelic-pop production, the duo wrote the song during a intense two-week "creative spark" while they were home between tours.

5. The Pretty Reckless (ft. Tom Morello) – "And So It Went"

  • I was pretty sure i had already used this song for a week? but i couldnt find it so i guess not

  • A "Soul Power" Cameo: Although Tom Morello doesn't appear in the music video, his legendary "Soul Power" Stratocaster is prominently featured in the opening shots.

  • Chart Dominance: This track helped the band extend their record for the most #1 Mainstream Rock singles by a female-fronted band.

  • Social Reflection: Taylor Momsen wrote the lyrics as a response to the state of civil unrest in the world, describing the song as a "commanding" anthem for change.

6. Kessoku Band – "Now, I'm going from underground"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mt4on5DnMw4

  • Movie Magic: This track (known in Japanese as Ima, Boku, Underground kara) serves as the ending theme for the first part of the Bocchi the Rock! compilation film, Re:.

  • Creative Team: The song was written and composed by Yuho Kitazawa (the vocalist of the band Peggies), who has a history of writing high-energy, emotional tracks for the series.

7. DECO*27 – "Telepathy"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c56TpxfO9q0

  • Internet Brain Rot: This 2025 release is widely considered one of DECO*27’s silliest songs. The lyrics describe a girl (Hatsune Miku) trying to confess her love, but she can only speak in internet memes and pop culture references because her brain is "consumed by the web."

  • Isekai Tropes: The song contains direct nods to the Isekai anime genre, including a line referencing the common trope "I Got Reincarnated as Me."

  • Viral Success: It reached the "Hall of Legend" status (1 million+ views) on Japanese video site Niconico shortly after its release.

8 -"One More Night Red Handed Denial

    . Lauren Babic’s Personal Favorite

Vocalist Lauren Babic—who has garnered a massive following for her vocal prowess and cover content on YouTube—has publicly cited this as her favorite song on the A Journey Through Virtual Dystopia album.

9- Touch and Go Intervals
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29s5L4vCdHA

1. The Collaborative Spark with Owane

A major reason "Touch and Go" sounds so distinct is the influence of Norwegian guitarist Owane. Aaron Marshall has shared that they collaborated closely on The Way Forward. The quirky, jazzy piano-like phrasing and the "elevator music on steroids" vibe was a direct result of their friendship and mutual influence during that writing cycle.

playthrough video has + 700k views

and most importantly, satinuke mentioned hes learning it so I decided why not( although maybe the tab might be a hinderance instead of help but still gave it a shot). No female vocals or band members.

Wish you all a good week!

Thanks for the week @cacahuate51 ! All great songs (some I played before)

The table format hides the link for me (but it could be my browser acting up)

This one seems a bit out of sync (minimal), but it throws me off on the timing 😅

?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Lett

What is this sorcery with pops and slides out of nothing? 😅

Haven't heard about Lauren Babic in a while. She has some vocal skills...

Really liked her version of Adele - Easy on Me

Oh youre still seeing a table? 🤔 On my end it's how it should be. the table format was just temporary as it was getting stuck while creating the week so I just copied pasted the table for the first 10 mins untill it worked.

thanks for sharing the song! I Dont think I've heard the original since I only know like 4 songs from Adele but was interesting to hear.

I'm seeing all good. Maybe I went too early and didn't refresh 😂
